  • Force Abilities (Darkside): None
*Includes ambient radiation, extreme temperatures, moisture, dust / debris particles, pressure, and other environmental conditions and damage-types, not damage of the same variety like the often more potent and concentrated effects of various weapon types.
SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Survivability: Thin micro-capillaried fabric textile is sealed against ambient pressure, able to comfortably survive the pressures of deep-sea diving or the vacuum of space, and resistant against moisture, dust and debris particles, extreme temperatures, as well as against airborne pathogens, corrosive-type substances, and most known forms of radiation. These qualities combine to make spectresilk an ideal material for enviro-suits and the like.
  • Toughness: Incredibly durable, spectresilk is highly resistant against tears, abrasions, punctures, and cuts, being shielded against kinetic-type damage from anything from concussions to vibroblades. Its rugged but elastic nature makes spectresilk impressive as a protective garment. A quality only improved by its construction, weaving together fibers of various immensely durable materials into a tight lattice, embedded with zersium flecks, and a coating of blend of norris root dye and absorbital, and reinforced duraplast coating around the fibers, granting it incredible resilience against most energy weapons, including several indirect blows from lightsaber-type weapons, and with the introduction of integrum, even against disruptor weapons.
  • Lightweight: Exceptionally lightweight, the versatility of this textile for use in a multitude of applications, spectresilk is a great choice for protective clothing of most any type.
  • Stealthy: The inclusion of shadowsilk gives the spectresilk increased versatility for its stealth enhancing properties, such as in shadowsuits.
STRENGTHS:
  • Tough Enough: Spectresilk is strong. No, like, seriously strong. It can withstand an utterly high amount of punishment, extremely resistant against a myriad of damage-types. Energy weapons, lightsabers, even disruptors; as well as kinetic damage, radiation, and chemical-biological weapons such as acid and other corrosive or caustic substances will all find that spectresilk is their worst nightmare. As a result, spectresilk can stand up to the most rugged conditions, being protected against environmental damage as well, making it well-suited to the toughest conditions and most hostile environments found practically anywhere in the galaxy.
  • Great for a Get-Away: Spectresilk’s toughness translates to its being ideally-suited for use in enviro-suits and other survival-type clothing, sealed even against the vacuum of space or the depths of some pelagic world.
  • Oh, Yes, It’s Stealthy: Lightweight, sound-dampening, light-absorbing material is perfectly made for use in stealthy garments, body gloves, and similar designs.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Force Your Way: Spectresilk has no kind of defensive properties for countering Force-based attacks, by either Lightsiders or Darksiders, nor can it defend against natural forms of telepathy or mentalism. Against Force-using foes or species endowed with these natural gifts, to rely on spectresilk for anything is a sure recipe for failure, and very likely much, much worse.
  • Get Tight: Gravitational weapons will find no resistance here, and while spectresilk can withstand the pressures of deep-sea diving or the void and vacuum of space, it isn’t any good against gravity weapons such as pressors, tensors, and the like.
  • Quiet Please: Spectresilk cannot stop sonic weapons directed against it. While it dampens and stifles sounds made by wearers from going out, it can’t do anything against those coming in.
DESCRIPTION
Vis wanted something tough. Not tough like leather. Not tough like armorweave. Something really, really tough. It also had to be sneaky, and suited for use in enviro-suits, emergency EVA situations, and amidst the most daunting and hostile of environments and scenarios. Spectresilk was the answer.
Able to stand up against energy weapons, lightsabers (for at least a few direct hits anyway), disruptors, radiation weapons, chemical-biological weapons, and of course, all manner of kinetic damage, spectresilk delivers on toughness in a big, big way. Made for use in survival suits and other uses where one might find themselves amidst the most rugged, harsh conditions imaginable, spectresilk is designed to ensure survival. Elastic yet incredibly high-tensile strength and resistant fibers, enhanced by layers of chemical and polymer coating, woven into an ultra-tight lattice to resist even the hardest of climates and conditions and most any commonly-encountered weapons in the galaxy today, spectresilk is one tough fabric.
Now, this isn’t to say it’s impervious to everything, mind you. It has just nothing to hold back the wrath of angry Sith Lord or a righteously put-off Jedi, throwing every space wizard-y power they have against it. Spectresilk offers no resistance to Force-based attacks, nor even against natural telepathy or similar abilities found in some species. And, even though it dampens the sound of what’s inside to less than a whisper, a hard sound weapon or similar sonic weapon coming at it from the outside will wreak havoc with it. And, in the same fashion, while it can stand up to the pressures of the far depths of oceans or the vacuum of space, it doesn’t stand a chance against gravitational weaponry like tensors or pressors. Not even a little bit.
What really gives spectresilk its edge, and also its name, is its immensely stealthy nature. Able to dampen sound to a less than whisper level, the light-absorbing lightweight material is perfect for stealth suits. Utilizing reflec coating and baffleweave, the material is virtually impenetrable to most conventional scanners, and elusive to all but the finest, most powerful, and most advanced military-grade sensor systems, the likes of which are both expensive and large, meaning that your enemy soldier on the battlefield, local constable, or even security droids won’t have them. In fact, spectresilk will avoid, confuse, frustrate, and evade just about sensor sweep or scan made without using such devices, acting on par with the highly-illegal mimetic stealth suits, but without the need for active field stealth, relying only on its unique combination of passive stealth technologies. Spectresilk will cloak odors, heat signatures, magnetic fields, and much, much more from the likes of hand-held scanners or droid-and-vehicle-based sensors. Its dark coloring and light-absorbing features make physical detection practically impossible, and it doesn’t have the tell-tale ‘stutter’ or ‘rippling’ often found with stealth field generators. However, when used in conjunction with these devices, spectresilk becomes even more sneaky.
Manufacturing spectresilk is difficult, expensive, time-consuming, and well frankly, a closely-guarded VisTech secret, meaning its in very limited supply and not commonly found on the open market, black, grey, or otherwise. Instead, it is a rare and wonderful cloth, tough as hell, and sneakier than the devil, and able to survive virtually whatever comes at it in terms of conditions, environment, or situations.
