The loss of several key members of the team(3 confirmed KIA, 1 MIA) weighed heavily on Mueller's mind on the trip home and he put the team on extended leave to determine their future. He decided that the positions would not be replaced out of respect to those last and the team would simply go "Leaner and Meaner".This posed a problem for the current fire team setup, namely "Sauriel" the resident Sniper. So it was time to address that.
A Specialized Marksman Rifle (SMR) is a modern scoped high-precision rifle capable for use in both assault and Marksman roles. It generally fills the engagement range gap between a service rifle and a dedicated sniper rifle, at around 300–600 metres (330–660 yd).
