SPECIAL FEATURES
DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES

  • The process of alchemization has strengthened the gem, imbuing it with a powerful Dark side aura and additional, intended qualities:

    the ‘eye’ serves as a channel for Combustion, making it quicker and less demanding on Yidhra to utilize the Force in such a manner

  • it also acts as a focus, allowing her to maintain her concentration under duress

[*]
Because of the nature of the crystal used, the ‘eye’ drains the life energy of Yidhra’s immediate surroundings and replenishes her own reserves.

Strengths:

  • Force Drain: the effects become apparent the longer Yidhra stays in one place. Throughout the course of a duel, for example, her opponent and anyone else in the immediate vicinity would notice a faint, but ever-building drain on their life energy the longer they fought. These siphoned resources, in turn, empower Yidhra herself and replenish her reserves;

  • Combustion: through ritual and alchemy, Yidhra has attuned and devoted this gem to a single purpose: to channel the Force. Because of this, the sorceress can exert her willpower more easily and quickly on her target. The third eye also serves as a focus, enabling her to sustain her concentration even in the thick of battle;

  • Knock Knock: throughout the process of alchemization, the gem was reinforced. Thus it is much harder to destroy than normal crystals, though by no means is it indestructible;
Weaknesses :

  • Captain Obvious: the eye is clearly situated in the middle of her forehead, providing an easy target for any half-decent marksman. It also acts as a beacon of the Dark side, announcing her arrival from afar;

  • Force Light’d: if exposed to Force Light, the gem will be rendered unusable. It will require Yidhra to attune it to the Dark side again before she can use it once more;

  • Apage Ysalamiri: for the duration of exposure to any form of Force nullification (Ysalamiri, Yuuzhan Vong, etc.), the gem will lose its special properties and simply become a pretty, if deeply unsettling gem in the middle of Yidhra’s forehead;

  • Fatal Fatigue: due to its draining properties, an overzealous sorceress could very well end up draining her own energy, resulting in a very awkward suicide.
DESCRIPTION

In her search to discover the deeper mysteries of the Dark side, Yidhra had come upon the rare Katak crystal. After many experiments, failures, and profanities, the sorceress managed to create an alchemized artifact possessed of curious properties.

The resulting gem is a burning orange in color – not unlike the Pureblood’s own eyes. With care and precision, the crystal was faceted and cut throughout the process, giving it an incredibly smooth surface. It catches light in a most uncanny way, almost seeming to consume it, rather than reflect it.

What Yidhra quickly realized upon trying to utilize its powers, however, was that it required direct contact. Anything less, like stowing it away in one of the many pockets of her robe, for example, lessened its powers considerably. After careful consideration and evaluation of the risks, the sorceress showed the true extent of her devotion – grafting it directly into her own body.

As a Pureblood Sith, she was uniquely equipped to handle the intrusion of a Dark side artifact in such an intimate manner. After the rather grisly process followed a period of two months, where Yidhra anxiously waited for the dreaded rejection.

It never happened.

Thus the eye-shaped gem now rests above her spiked brow, inset into the pale red flesh. Though modern technology has minimized the amount of scarring, Yidhra wasn’t able to avoid it completely; a thin, vertical white line bisects her forehead now, demarcating the cut.

But, as ever in Sith Sorcery – no pain, no gain.
