OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Spaceport Name: Solitude
  • Location: Chalacta
  • Affiliation: The Scar Worlds
  • Classification: Landing Field
  • Population: Insignificantly Staffed
  • Accessibility: Public/Dead World. Solitude is the only known settlement on the planet Chalacta as of 867 ABY.
  • Traffic: Insignificant.
  • Description: Solitude is a shantytown built out of the wreckage of Silver Jedi ships that were salvaged from the scarred surface of the planet. Its population consists of salvagers, thieves, and miners hoping to eek out profit by robbing the planet of its remaining resources in the wake of the Bryn'adul collapse. Due to the environmental changes caused to the planet by the terraforming process used by the Bryn'adul, a breath mask is required.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Landing Field. Barren fields with some landing zones roughly marked out. It is serviced by a few droids. As there is no planetary power grid, power droids serve as generators for the settlement and any ships needing to power down for maintenance.
  • Cantina. It changes names too frequently to keep up. The last owner referred to it as Torygg's, but he was shot over a sabaac dispute and the current owner has yet to bother with a name. It's the only commercial venture on the planet at present, and only because the miner's wanted somewhere they could drink. Suffice to say, if the streets are dangerous then the cantina is doubly so. Its a rare night the cantina doesn't haul out two or three bodies with the regular trash.
  • The Mining Guild. The driving economic force behind why Solitude exists at all. A front for a criminal operation exploiting the scarred world for the available resources in the planet's mantle.

SECURITY
None
. The Sector Rangers don't come near this sector, for fear of Bryn'adul remnants. The wounded Silver Jedi are now flung away from this area of space. This is a lawless frontier in which a blaster is judge, jury, and executioner. Getting shot in the street here is a common enough occurrence that no one is going to bat an eye. If you're expecting back up, you had better bring your own.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Solitude is a place that shouldn't exist.

Constructed from the wreckage of downed Silver Jedi ships, primarily that of a Guardian-class Star Defender, the shadowport operated openly as part of the Mining Guilds. Due to the Bryn'adul terraforming process increasing volcanic activity across the planet, the scorched earth was viewed as rich in heavy metals and valuable minerals. With the genocide of the Chalactan people having taken place, the planet was viewed by the unscrupulous as ripe for claims of salvage. Solitude was the first step in the criminals making such a claim.

Solitude, like much of the Scar Worlds, was a lawless frontier created by the invasion of the Bryn'adul and the subsequent collapse of the monstrous invaders. The sector rangers did not patrol this region of space, allowing criminal elements to operate with impunity. The Mining Guild was a front, though its veneer of legitimacy was little more than that. It was widely known that the mining operation operated on the planet was enriching a criminal enterprise, though which was unknown. Some rumors suggested that it was the Hutts behind it, while others supposed it was the Black Sun. A few speculated it was the Maw or a Sith, though the managers seemed unaware of who the true benefactor was behind the scenes. Freighters and shipment of the mined ores were arranged through blockchain contracts on the Dark Holo-Net, which obscured the actual signatories.

It was a dangerous place. Each individual was the law unto themselves, with a blaster as judge, jury, and executioner.

Because of the environmental changes to Chalacta as a result of Bryn'adul terraforming, the planet had undergone global warming. The increase in volcanic activity brought noxious gases to the surface along with the heavy metals from the planet's mantle, resulting in a Type II atmosphere that required use of breath masks around Solitude by most humanoids.
