Name: Soceras
Region: Wild Space
System: Soceras
Suns: Rotating Blue Pulsar YG-75i7 "Soceras"
Orbital Position: Habitable zone, second out of seven
Moons: 3, Verga, Dalliah, Reb’non
Verga: volcanically active moon. No atmosphere. Uninhabited, save a few mining projects. Contains components for durasteel. Gravity .8x normal. Population: 10,000. Orbital period: 2 weeks. Rotational period: 45 hours.
Dalliah: inhabitable, hospitable moon. Type I atmosphere. Largely agricultural, very rural. Contains abandoned temples, a few oceans. Gravity x.901 normal. Population: 100,000. Orbital period: 3 months. Rotational period: 23 hours.
Reb’non: Meteor-afflicted radiation waste-land. No atmosphere. No viable elements or components. Largely used to shield the planet from meteor-storms and helps to form the belt around the existing planet. No charted settlements—though there are several abandoned attempts by illegal groups. Orbital period: 4 weeks. Rotational period: 90 hours.

System Features: The system star emits a pulsing effect of radiation, causing distortions and strangeness in the planet. Due to the three moon’s strange orbits, the gravity on world can be oddly effected. For most worlds this is limited to only the effect of tides. However, here the anomalies can affect the solids as well—and the atmosphere. Portions of vacuums are on polar opposite sides of the moon Verga (volcanically active moon rich in durasteel components), causing the need for settlements along the southern swath of the equator to be sealed. This rejoin is little more than a barren wasteland. Much of the radiation emitted by the unstable star is condensed along the equator in a glowing, lethal ring. This ring makes all life along the equator all but uninhabited. Those that have managed to live in this area are genetically mutated monster. Even the few plants in this rejoin are carnivores. Venturing here is not recommended without adequate radiation protection and weaponry. The northern and southern poles are occupied by glacier caps. These do contain trace amounts of radiation, while not enough to make them “glow” they are dangerous. This self-same radiation, mixed with the peculiars of gravity creates a beautiful lattice land of ice-crystal sculptures. A long-abandoned Jedi outpost rests somewhere in the southern rejoins, however, no one dares venture that far south except the few who live in Mor-Jan, though their citizens rarely leave their homes.
Coordinates: T-23
Rotational Period: 75 standard hours.
Orbital Period: 992.967 standard days.

Class: Terrestrial
Diameter: 15307.2 km
Atmosphere: Type II with alternating regions of type IV (see “Special features”). Also, the equator, due to the ring of radiation that surrounds the planet, has an unbreathable Type III quality that many consider “beautiful but deadly” for its glowing nature.

Climate: Varied climate. The poles are arctic rejoins with great deals of frost. The equator and the ten latitudes bellow it are barren, arid wastelands. The northern hemisphere is temperate. Rejoins of the northern hemisphere range from lush forests to idyllic farms.
Gravity: Fluxing, though generally standard. The entire northern hemisphere experiences perfect gravity, though the rejoins to the south of the equator it is varied depending on the position of Verga. Wherever Verga is, there are strange fluxions. Objects not bolted down may be lifted and follow the moon’s orbit along the surface, beings may be suspended in mid-air indefinitely, causing severe issues. The opposite end of the planetary rejoin experiences the opposite. Gravity is two to three times standard, beings that are not used to this gravity (such as Given) could be killed through internal bleeding, if not through the lack of atmosphere. Even ships in orbit opposite to Verga have been brought down to the surface in violent, inescapable wrecks, making this rejoin a copious ship graveyard for those bold—or foolish—enough to desire to scavenge in it.
Primary Terrain: Mountains, radiation wasteland, farms, and jungles, Lakeland, oceans, cities (northern), artic rejoins.

Native Species: None, though the immigrated species have often developed into rare “monsters” along the Verga and equator rejoins.
Immigrated Species: Humans, near-humans, Given, Rancor, twi’lek, Rodien, Weequay, Vong.
Primary Languages: Galactic Standard basic, Ryl, Huttese.

Government: This largely lawless planet has several factious rejoins that are little more than primitive types, though they vary in importance. A loose democracy denotes the northern rejoin, created by a few farmers and city folk alike that ages ago formed the “Pact of Sajon” making a loose federation. These cities and farm states are then dominated by state-like leaders. There is no “united government” though small states such as the Communistic Regime of Bankor (CRB) and the People’s Socialistic Federation (PSF) based in the sprawling city of Mor-Jan are two major players. The southern hemisphere is dominated by tribal, backwater lords who worship the moon goddess of destruction Verga and destroy each other in rampant glee. The dichotomy of the planet makes it balanced in the Force alignment in every possible way (Lawful-Chaotic, Good-Evil) making it a “true neutural.”
The two Largest Cities, one a crime hub, Dal’Bor ruled by a crime syndicate. This city is known for its gambling, black market, and willingness to look the other way. The other city is Bankor Ultiamata, ruled by a communistic council that heavily enforces its laws though provides honest trade and a chance for passersby to sell what they own or get a fresh refuel. However Mor-Jan also is a viable port, though not always recommended. The people there are very poor and not open to outsiders. Rumor has it there are androids that roam the streets, seeking out dissenters and establishing a terrified but co-operative peace.
Population: 4.2 billion.

Demonym: Socerian
Major Imports: Ships, weapons, medical supplies.
Major Exports: Food, technology, clothing goods, contraband
Culture: Culture is varied. In some rejoins such as Bankor, honor and discipline is prized above all else. Though in the tribal rejoins that worship Verga, the ability to kill is prized above all else. Since there is no centralized government, the world is as diverse as any other.
Technology: rejoins of this planet are still extremely primitive, those south of the equator. However, those to the north of it have advanced to modern times, if not a decade behind the modern times.

History:
The history of Soceras has largely been untouched by the galaxy. Early on the massive amounts of radiation that were being emitted from this system’s pulsar made all colony attempts towards it a definite no. During the Imperial era this changed. A small group of pacifist separatists decided that the most hazardous toxic waste-land was better than remaining under Emperor Palatine’s rule. Striking out into the radiation they found that the land was oddly inhabitable on the northern regions. The planet’s two moons managed to press the radiation into a tight disc around it. Criminals were sent to the southern hemisphere as part of banishment. The few who did survive became mutants in the wasteland or savages. The idyllic perfect land attracted more settlers as time moved on, of mixed backgrounds and races. In an intentional lack of centralized government to prevent another Emperor attracted many colonists. Soceras became the galaxy’s best-kept secret for dissenters and political idealists looking to set up their own colonies.
Taking note the Jedi decided to set up an outpost on the planet in case the growing world caused chaos or fell into criminal disarray. However, none were welcome—all Force Users are met with a generalized disdain on the planet. In several rejoins they are even boycotted and persecuted if discovered. As a result the Jedi had to form their outpost on the southern hemisphere, where chaos and darkness rules. Over a few hundred years, interest and funding was lost by the Order for this outpost. Unfortunately, the local hazards proved to be too dangerous for those Jedi placed as guardians of the outpost. Cut off from the Order and without transportation off-world, the four knights, two masters and six padawans who remained fled into the dangerous wasteland. Though their fate is unknown to the rest of the galaxy, their spawn became an afflicted, Force-using race that commits the most horrific of travesties on the world. When the Order went to investigate what remained, the damage was horrific, most of the rescuers were killed by local savages, few returned with horror stories.
When the Gulag virus afflicted the universe Soceras was equally damaged. Several major cities were abandoned, only to be forgotten for seemingly forever.
One Dark Lord known as Darth VirVox not long after came to the southern hemisphere, drawn by the darkness. He attempted to train some of the local savages, harnessing their abilities and dabbling some with Sith Alchemy. However his creation turned on him and killed the evil lord—or so it is thought. As his acolyte fled the Dark Lord managed to seal himself in an obelisk where he still sleeps. Near-sentient desendants turned his lab into a shrine where they worship the Dark Lord as a sleeping god.
Not long after the Neatherworld crisis occurred; massive swaths of people vanished. Whole cities were instantly depopulated. Families were separated, though compared to the rest of the galaxy, this world went by virtually unscathed. Set back a few decades, the planet was opened to crimelords in Dal'Bor. These kingpins rose and fell, each in a blaze of glory that has proven to make the city used to this criminality and even daily regime changes.
For its lack of resources there have been few to no attempts to take the planet over, if anything it is largely passed by expect for by smugglers and other criminals seeking haven in Dal’Bor.

Notable PCs:
James Justice
Sasha Voss
Kylo Kyr'am

Intent: The goal of this planet is to be a starting point for Justice Shipping Ltd as a major starting point. The diversity of this planet is meant to aid in training and provide an interesting scenarios for character development, combat training, and technology development.

Alright, two things I want to address at the moment. I'll dig deeper sometime tomorrow once I've had some sleep.

Firstly, there's already a canon planet named Socorro. Since it was there first, we'd like you to choose a different name.

Secondly, if you could put all but the first image under a spoiler tag, that would be greatly appreciated. Would make scrolling a lot easier.

I'd demonstrate how to write it out, but that would just put one in the post.

Click the Special BBCode button next to font, scroll down til you see Spoiler, and it'll walk you through from there.

You could have put them all under the same tag and saved yourself a lot of trouble. Just food for thought.

Anyway.

I'm looking forward to getting this one wrapped up and live in the galaxy. It's an interesting concept that can definitely go places. Just has a couple of wrinkles to iron out first. There are a couple of issues that need to be addressed.

Seems a little odd to have a moon with higher gravity than the planet. By all rights, Socrer should be orbitting Verga. Any chance you can elaborate on how that works?

That's an awful lot of folks for a planet like this. I'd recommend reducing the population significantly.

Over a few hundred years, interest and funding was lost by the Order for this outpost. Unfortunately, the mutants had an opposite reaction. Drawn like moths to the flame they began prowling on the Jedi in a picturesque horror story. Cut off from the Order and without transportation off-world, the four knights, two masters and six padawans who remained fled into the dangerous wasteland. Though their fate is unknown to the rest of the galaxy, their spawn became an afflicted Force-using mutant near-human race that commits the most horrific of travesties on the world. When the Order went to investigate what remained, the damage was horrific, most of the rescuers were killed by mutants who had developed Vong-like genes to avoid Force detection and affect.
This part is problematic. The species of mutants therein look to have all the best parts of the Vong, with none of the drawbacks. They can use the Force, but it can't be used on them. That presents a balance issue. Chances are, you will have to submit these mutants as their own species at some point. While we don't need the submission to move forward here, I would recommend removing mention of any abilities they might have. Evil murdering murderers is enough of a description moving forward.

The History section also needs mention of the Netherworld events.

Also, if you could do me a favor and double check that there are no mentions of the original name, that would be great. I swear I keep seeing it when I scroll through, but when going back to look, I can't seem to find it. As the pirate with the steering wheel attached to his scrotum explained to curious onlookers, "It drives me nuts."

Anyway, lemme know when you've got your edits finished or if you have any questions. Thanks much.

Population: taken care of. Reduced by 1 billion.

Verga: affects the orbit of the planet--kinda like the Pluto and Charon. This makes Socrer's orbit "wobbly" and elongates its day by a few hours. It could also affect some of the gravity--just for fun. Mass-wise, minus the gravitational pull, the only reason why Socrer holds sway is it is "bigger." Verga is more dense, containing only heavy metals over its smaller area, increasing gravity and making it volatile. If that doesn't work, I can change it some. :)

Added mention to the Neatherworld event--though I wasn't here when it happened and I haven't been able to find much info so I kinda spit-balled something about it making the world more prone to criminal activity because of reduced population. How does that look?

Glad you like it! I appreciate your help. :)

Size isn't everything. The more massive (read: heavy) an object is, the deeper the gravity well. You can still have your gravity fluctuations, but the mass will have to go down to less than the planet or you're going to have some really screwed up, unstable orbital dynamics that would have in all likelihood brought the moon crashing down billions of years ago.

James Justice said:

I swear I thought that said reduced TO 1 billion the first time. That would have been fine. 7.2 billion is entirely too much. You're basically fitting the population of Earth on a not particularly habitable and fairly obscure planet.

I'm guessing the edits to this part got overlooked? If you want your mutants, they'll have to be approved as a species separately, given their unusual powers. In the mean time, please remove mention of them from this submission.

Lemme know when you've got that taken care of and you should be good to go.

Alrighty, thanks for being patient and working with me on getting this going. :)

-Population has been cut in half.
-Verga' gravity was reduced to .9x times earth.
-the mutants were replaced with "hazards." Hope that's better. :)

Appreciate it, if there's anything else I'll be glad to change it.
