SPECIAL FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • Extensive use: The heavy-rylith power cell allows the SM-1A1 series to go toe to toe with heavy repeaters and other fast firing, long lived weapons of the modern battlefield.
  • Rapid fire: With a heavy duty power source and a number of internal upgrades, The SM-1A1 offers a frightening rate of fire at 900 RPM.
  • Little friend, Big punch: The Included Mandalorian chamber and heavy actuating module effectively double's the weapons damage potential, creating broad particle-beams that not only explode on impact, but pack more force behind it, allowing the SM-1A1 to more effectively pierce some armors and even melt basic materials such as durasteel with some effort.
  • Non-Ionizable: The SM-1A1's internal duraplast coating prevents the electronics from being fried and otherwise disabled by EMP\Ionic damage.
WEAKNESSES
  • High recoil: Despite the weapon heavy weight, the shear power behind it results in noticeable recoil. Because of this, the weapon was further designed with CQB in mind.
  • High Spread: The SM-1A1 suffers from a circular spread pattern. In addition to it's wild recoil, this can make ranged accuracy a difficult feat. Mini-autoblaster is designed with CQB in mind, meant to be hip-fired while particle beams are simply dumped into the general direction of the foe.
  • Gas cutoff: While the SM-1A1 features sturdy synthmesh gas tubing, The power cell's size has forced the Black Hand Rifle Company to adopt an exterior hosing system to help feed additional tibanna gas into the chamber in order to increase the energy behind each particle-beam. With this in mind, A lightsaber or strong enough vibro-blade could potentially cut the tubing, rendering the blaster useless until re-sealed.

DESCRIPTION
The SM-1A1 was the Black Hand Rifle Company's first true attempt at a more compact PDW. The original prototype, the SM-1A, was also the first of the "SM" designated weapons produced by the company; SM being Sub-machine or Submachine Gun, while the final designation was 1st Automatic, or "1st Automatic Model". This prototype suffered from poor stopping power and munition capacity however, so the later SM-1A1 was made with a larger carapace and several upgrades to increase both longevity and energy output. This included a larger Rylith Power cell and extended "Stick Mag" tibanna cartridges inserted vertically from the top and directly into a chamber of the new Dallorian Alloy barrel.

While the SM-1A1 was used to great effect in field testing within the Vong Deadzone of Kestri, it still seemed to lack the true longevity that the company's CEO, Aloy Vizsla, desired.
The final design, known as the SM-1A1C or "Commando Miniaturized autoblaster", was given an extended tibanna cartridge, and both models were fitted with synthmesh gas hosing that more efficiently fed during extended engagements, cutting down on mid-battle jamming.

Once given it's reflec paint coating, The "Commando" was adopted as Aloy Vizsla's personal weapon, and issued to members of the Black Hand Collective's criminal wing. The intent being to provide a compact support weapon with which to hold down corridors, should the collective ever come under siege, or to be utilized as a tool of violent and inescapable execution should the need arise.

The original SM-1A1 was nicknamed "Little Friend" for it's compact size when compared to a traditional support weapon, and put on the civilian market for bounty hunters and home defenders, while the "Commando" retained it's near-exclusive use by the Black Hand Collective's security and individual Mandalorian Clientele.
