Right, the pheromones, which were definitely in the air but definitely not doing any sort of infiltration. Woe to Lynnori.

She leaned over him slightly then to rest her elbows on the desk he sat at, chin propped right up on the palms of her hands. She'd shifted to the side at the same time so they weren't exactly close enough to be considered intimate but probably closer than strangers should be. Were they really strangers now? Maybe reluctant acquaintances. Her eyes ran over the information present at speeds slower than him, sure, "Found him on the steps of his penthouse's landing pad, hmm," Poor Darius had probably been trying to run away from his assailants, "Do, um, do a cop-thing and find what the doctors or scientists, or whatever did with the samples under his nails, the blood. Maybe they identified species or something. You all can do that, right?" It was pretty clear Lyn had no information when it came to this sort of forensic science, but she was sure relying on the fact Kole did.

It only took one look.

Just one to create a certain sense of difficulty that came with looking away. His throat felt tense, he couldn't explain the sensation. Pheromones were the only truthful explanation, at least to himself, but in reality it had nothing to do with them; Kole wasn't robotic, instead replaced with organic substitutes, but he was never quite human. A creation, nonetheless. Pheromones had no effect on the HRD, and the things he felt were entirely real. No witchcraft had been involved, and when the two separated that feeling was to linger. If he had known? He'd be angered by the thought, the prospect, the chance. It was something new, and in the face of the glorious new there came fear.

His synthetic skull shifted ever-so-slightly watching as she came down on his left, her frame ahead of his own whilst supporting her weight with the table. In the moment Kole listened, he waited, then responded. His finger lazily moving forwards to point at a section on the screen that read the details she was after. It read 'Trandoshan', larger than most creatures, clawed, perfect for muder. A simple, "Yeah." Came before such a thing.

Suppose he had found himself lucky, or so some would think. Lyn took an interest, and for all the wrong reasons. Kole wasn't good people, nor was he bad. Somewhere in the middle, the grey-area in which he operated.

"Oomf, a Trandoshan. Bad luck to our holo-star, those guys definitely have enough in them to choke the life out of you."

This time she wasn't speaking from personal experience. Lynnori had her own tastes and wasn't as fluid when it came to species like other members of her own. She drew the line at sharp teeth and enough innate callousness to be natural-born hunters. Yeah. Wouldn't make good partners. She liked to stay in the shades of grey that Kole lingered in, but loathed to lean too much into the dark or light. And not to be racist, but most Trandoshans seemed to land themselves squarely in the depths of the dark.

Loosely running a few fingers through her bangs to push them out of her eyes, a tsk left Lyn then, casually, a noise of contemplation, "Well, that's that. Looking for a Trandoshan, maybe someone else. Mm, guess it's time to visit Darius' place."

She didn't sound like she meant she was going alone. Her eyes flicked over to Kole, looking at him out of the corner of her eye.

Kole's head, in it's entirety, turned to face her. It was as if he was unable to move his eyes independently. There was that second of staring in contemplation, whether it was to be beneficial to bring her along or to leave her in the dirt. It hadn't mattered much since she had already seen the address, now hadn't she? Kole let out a deeper exhale, a sniff of his nose, snatching at his nostril and swiping downwards with both his index and thumb, before placing both hands on his side. "Alright." He replied, nodding his head in confirmation, if nothing else. Suppose Lyn was coming along, for now. She happened to help him once before this already, and so it wasn't so farfetched to believe the Zeltros might come in handy once more.

He pressed himself out of the seat, Lyn blocking his only path as the corpse on the tray behind him was still drawn. His first course of action, obviously, was to close it. Both hands, clean enough, pressed against the handle with enough force that the draw slid to a close. A metallic thud, and lock-type noise clunked as it's interior devices kicked in. "How many crime scenes?" It was familiar to a question he asked earlier, this time made as he strode his way towards the outside area, Lynnori presumable at his side. Looking down at her much smaller stature in comparison to his own.

The HRD was certainly hesitant, but he couldn't leave her be. She was bound to show up sooner or later, and it was best to allow her to do more good than bad. The good, of course, coming in the form of assistance whilst the bad was interference. He hadn't the slightest of clues as to what her temper was like, or willing she was to kill, if at all. It'd be a shame if he had to gun her down for getting in the way too many times, or at the very least had drawn on him first.

Sharing The Ride, Literally | Interacting with [member="Kole Harper"] ~ Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea ~ "And the tide it takes me away from you, and it brings me back again."
——————————————————————

She never shot the handsome ones. At least, Lyn always told herself that right before the firefight started.

"Just his apartment," Another question that seemed to lean into the fact Kole had some law enforcement experience, "Unless there's another place that we don't know about." Something along the lines of law enforcement, anyways. He sure wasn't a part of them now, if he had to bribe his way into places like this. Or maybe the CSF was just really, really inefficient. Nonetheless, a part of her was relieved to see that he was coming with her -- Or that he was permitting her to come with him. Semantics.

She followed at his side but also slightly behind, making Kole look back at her with his head turn. The nigh-smarmy grin on her face was evidence to the theory that she was really enjoying herself despite the macabre work they were doing, "You got a ride?"

He wasn't much for smiles. Something more along the lines of amused huffs, and teetering grins. He was capable of seeming amused, though. That was for sure. It often accompanied a bleak outlook, helpless staring, and the monotony of boredom. Lynnori? She was something new, fresh, to spice up that everyday nonsense that never seemed to fade away. Kole could find himself lucky to of met her, or maybe the complete opposite. He'd have to wait and see how things went, but for now everything was fine. Only one dead holo-star with an unsolved murder, ten thousand credits on the table, and the possibility of being stabbed in the back at any moment. All-in-all, he'd been in worse situations, and he was still alive, for now. Hs service to the Galactic Alliance was certainly damaging to the mind, but it made him into exactly what they wanted. If only he'd known, at that point it'd be much easier to understand why he is the way that he is.

"Hmm?" He questioned, not entirely paying attention, taking a moment or two to decipher what it was Lyn asked. "Oh, yeah." It was clear that Kole was heading in the direction of it, obviously. "You don't?" He posed a question himself, assuming that she was asking for a lift. How'd she get here without one? It probably just took a lot longer than it did for Kole, really. They continued to stride through the morgue complex, few staff and fewer eyes that really gave a damn. Yet, those that they passed often had their eyes fixated on Lynnori's frame. A lot of scum, a lot of villainy. Even among the law enforcement, that is. There wasn't anybody you could trust. Kole knew that all too well.

...Bumming A Ride | Interacting with [member="Kole Harper"] ~ Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea ~ "And you fall like water right through my hands, with every word you say."
——————————————————————

"Um, yeah." Lynnori let out a laugh that clearly indicated she probably didn't, at least at the moment. The Sulit was parked in a dock collecting taxes and what-not for parking fees, but the nimble fighter only seated one. Two, if he fancied a ride in her lap. Which he mi--

A rather shuddering exhale left Lyn suddenly then as she killed a thought process in its tracks, electing to focus on the task at hand first and foremost. Surprising herself, sure, but credits were something she needed and loved dearly, "But, you know, sharing is caring, and all. And we're going to the same place, so you know, pragmatic." The Zeltron certainly didn't seem to mind all the appraising gazes, indeed, she'd come to expect them, though she only seemed to have eyes for the one she was working with. Partners? Co-investigators? What's the right word? Ah, well, it didn't matter much.

Not like this would continue on past this one job.

"His place is nearby, at least, should be, it said 5120 on the file. Got a plan to get past the police tape or are we just winging it?"

Doubt that Kole was ever going to fit on her lap, really. Kole, by all means, wasn't a large man; average, maybe a bit more. Lyn, however, was rather short, lithe... Frail? So, if it were to ever happened it was sure to be the other way around, that's for sure. An awfully strange thought, Kole hadn't the ability to truly comprehend what it was he was thinking. It was, as a result, that Kole allowed his synthetic mind to revert back to it's more professional positioning. Death, lies, treachery. That's what made an interesting murder, and that was the case with Darius. An award winning holo-star is found dead in his own home with cuts and bruises on his throat, blood beneath his finger tips? Things such as that never went unnoticed.

"I have a way." His answer was entirely vague, almost as if he was thinking about it himself. Kole was a former CSF Officer, but he never discarded his identification. It often came into use for those that weren't getting paid enough to question others. If you said anything with enough confidence they questioned themselves, not the person that's lying to them. Or that was the case in Kole's experience, however limited it was.

The speeder thrummed to life, whizzing through the traffic. "Lynnori, right?" He had to confirm, lest he forget it entirely. It was idle conversation, for there was nothing worse than sitting in silence with someone by your side, thinking of things to say but never uttering a word.

Questioning A Ride | Interacting with [member="Kole Harper"] ~ Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea ~ "Oh, you'll find me, between the devil and the deep blue sea, and I'm going under."

"Oh, you have a way." Lyn replied a little dryly, a casual toss of her hair again as she hopped into the passenger side of the speeder and let him sort out the fine details of starting it up and getting them on her way. Things she didn't need to worry about as the ridealong.

Her eyes had opted to wander and watch the rippling skyline of late-night Coruscant, concentration only pulled when her name was spoken by him. It sounded better coming through his voice than most who said it, and it let to the smallest of smirks appearing, "Hm? Oh, yes. Lynnori. And you're Kole." She affirmed back, legs crossed at the thighs with almost an air of professionalism or at the very least class. A novel posture for one of her kind, probably, "Most Humans have last names. Gonna guess you're one of that kind, huh?" She didn't wait for his reply before asking another question, plainly, "What part of space are you from, anyhow? Outer Rim, Mid, one of those Core guys?" It was clear she had stereotypes in mind for each.

"It's a nice name." He idly commented, both as a compliment and genuine acknowledgement. Kole never really had understood the concept of complimenting someone's name, it wasn't chosen by them. They only ever got lucky to have parents with good taste, no? It wasn't as if it mattered. Kole hadn't any parents, but if we're calling those who named you 'parents', he had an entire team of them. Those that put him back together, clogged his brain with falsified information, wiped his memories and sent him on his way. Suppose that counts to some degree, right? It had to. As far as he knew, though, his parents were still farming in the mid-rim. Wasn't the worst existence, but it wasn't the life that Kole desired, or so he was made to think. It's why he was here and now, after all.

Kole leaned to his right, catching glimpse of the traffic and ensuring nothing was in his way before turning the craft. Maybe not the most lawful, but he followed traffic laws, at least. "Harper." Kole added, "Kole Harper." Said with a few soft nods, and a brief glance in her direction that was quickly returned to the skies ahead. Coruscsant had beauty to it, despite all the devastation and corruption. "Mid-Rim. Arbra. Nothing special." Much like himself.

A thoughtful (or thoughtless) hum left the Zeltron as she processed all she was given. It's a nice name. She supposed 'Lynnori' could be considered 'nice', though most who met her would attest to the fact that Lynnori could be very not-nice indeed. Hm. Her eyes fell on a distant patch of orange haze marring the sky -- Either fires they had yet to put out, or a particular crazy rave, who knew on this world anymore, "So, Kole Harper from Arbra of the Mid Rim," Lyn began rather sardonically, eventually her chin flipping over so her smug grin could face him properly, "Got a story to you? Multiple stories? Fun stories? Ever do any jobs like this before?" Whilst she was asking about quite a lot of things, more than likely the last one was the one of any actual interest. The rest was filler, the distant rumblings of Lynnori's mind that sort of tumbled out whenever she spoke.

Her fingers tapped on the dashboard of his speeder casually. To the beat of a particularly funky song stuck in her head. He didn't seem like the type to listen to much music, though.

Interesting stories? Kole didn't have many stories that were available for lighter chit-chat, especially within company that you were more than likely going to try and impress sooner or later. It was bound to happen, he knew, she knew it, anyone that could see how Kole's mind worked in the moment knew it. There was a pause, a recollection of his past experiences that detailed a war, loss, hate, emptiness, and betrayal. "Not for a while." He replied, "Used to be CSF, most of it was there." He hadn't given a reason as to why, but maybe that was intentional. He wasn't comfortable with talking about it, or bringing it out without provocation. Lyn was going to ask why, though. He could feel it in those enhanced bones of his. Coruscant seemed to be getting darker with each passing moment, the lights of the city reflecting upon the windshield, and Kole's hand glided across the controls that eased them in every direction he willed it.

"You?" He questioned, not removing his eyes from the area ahead of him, lest he crash. "You're interesting enough to have a few stories." An extra comment was placed on, his head not facing almost away from her as he steered them to the right. His voice wasn't entirely present, distracted by the delicate manoeuvre he underwent. Kole typically was like that, his mind elsewhere, not where it should be.

Well, of course she assumed he had a history with cops. That receptionist at the morgue was a little too eager to help him out, after all, even with the cash incentive. She seemed prepared to ask another barrage of useless questions but his own cut her off and set her mind to thinking, gaze affixed ahead like his was, "Hm," Lyn began thoughtfully, "Hmm. No, not really. I used to run blockades, leave people in the dust, got pretty good at it. Playing detective wasn't really my style. Isn't my style. Can't even get past the cops to do it." She didn't sound too hung up over it, though; getting him to bail her out wasn't such a misfortune. Let the luck ride, right?

"Ah, ah! I think it's over there." Suddenly she was half-out of the passenger seat, pointing right across his view down at an apartment complex to their left. They'd still have to dip out of traffic streams and navigate Coruscant's confusing skyscraper freeways to get there, but, still, she clearly recognized the palisade from the case file. Good memory on her, at least. Taking a moment to enjoy how literally high up Lynnori really was in her anxiety-inducing position of nearly-standing in the speeder, she eventually fell back down onto the seat, "This planet is crazy, man." The comment was half to herself.

Homicide and Internal Affairs.

Kole knew of everyone. It was a part of the job. Someone made a slip and he was hot on their tail, even if it felt strange to kill an Officer, it was always able to be rationalised. They were dirty, and he wasn't, and each speck of dirt weighed down the legal process. Termination was the only explanation. If anything, homicide was a cover. He worked his cases, but his own cushy office had him remain out of sight, and his general disposition had him out of mind too. It was through the slits in the blinds that he watched, waited, observed, and noted. Kole could read people the same way Lyn could feel them, or similar to. The slightest of facial expressions, the pitch in voice when telling a lie, or the awkward mannerisms of a nervous individual. Maybe that was his robotics talking, he hadn't a clue.

At the sudden burst Kole's head snapped in direction she pointed in without a word, he eyed off. That was it. Yet, as Lyn practically stood he extended his left hand outwards in an attempt to push her back down into it. Didn't want fifty-shades of pink splattered all over the insides of his only mode of transportation now, didn't he?

Traffic was traffic. Ever present, clogged, and he wasn't weaselling his way out of it. His left hand remained on the wheel as his right elbow propped itself on the inside of the door, his hand grasping his forehead. A breathy sigh escaped his lips at Lyn's final comment, and an equally exasperated, "Yeah." Left him too. The sky dimmed, the lights became more prominent, and it seemed as if they were soon to be operating under the cover of darkness before too long. The constant whir of thrusters and engines filled the quiet moments, just as the near-empty lane had speeders race past them at a distance that may be too close for comfort. It might feel strange for Lyn to be the passenger now, but maybe it was better to leave that past behind her.

He was to prefer her without the mask anyways.

No Longer Questioning The Ride | Interacting with [member="Kole Harper"] ~ Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea ~ "And I'm going under, I'm drowning now, come and save me, save me, oh..."

His concern was cute, but Human. Cute Human. Cuteman?

Sometimes Lyn missed the thrill of the literal chase, the high of racing. Ships roaring side by side, the nigh-supernatural feats she could coax out of her own vessel, the millions of fans tuned in to bet on what insane stunt she'd perform next. Sometimes paying her to do it, too. Sometimes the mundane reality of her new life was just enough for her, though. No doubt Kole would come face-to-face with her masked persona soon enough, but that'd come with time. Hopefully he wasn't a secret follower of the underground race circuit otherwise things would get very, very awkward.

"The people here drive like gundarks." Lyn commented offhandedly, glancing out over her side of the speeder at those to their side and those below, stuck in the same jams they were in, "Seriously, they do, this is ridiculous. Also, you drive like a cop. That's not a bad thing, don't get me wrong, but I think we'd be there by now if I was driving. And if I was bending Coruscant's speeding laws."

Kole quirked a brow, shifting his head, lowering his arm by his side. His gaze was certainly questioning, lingering on her features. Maybe a little longer than they needed to. "Used to getting what you want?" His head slightly cocked to the side. Traffic was going nowhere, and you'd think with all this space that you could go anywhere. It wasn't a far cry to assume someone such as herself got what she wanted whenever she wanted it for more reasons than one. Be it pheromones, looks alone, or a charming personality. He wasn't quite tempted to act out of character, at least not yet. Lyn seemed more akin to that girl you meet on a night out, believe is the best thing ever, only to never see her again once the day is done. Heartbreaking, but it was the nature of some women. He hadn't any personal experiences, but he's overheard enough conversations, watched enough films, heard enough songs. It wasn't only the rich and famous that had their heart's shattered into pieces.

Lynnori was right, though. He drove like a Cop. Fast and safe, in regulation but teetering on the edge. Maybe not the best cop, but there were plenty that took to the wheel in that very manner. Kole lounged further back into his seat, assuming a much more comfortable positioning. His eyes occasionally switched over to the traffic-lanes, ready to move once they allowed him to... Even if it was only a few metres forward at a time.

Seeing The Ride Differently | Interacting with [member="Kole Harper"] ~ Dangerous Game ~ "Was it you? Left your secrets inside, all the lies you can't hide; it's a dangerous game."
——————————————————————

His words made her look back over, something different in her face now. It was hard to read, impossible almost, but it almost looked like intrigue. He was reeling her in, whether or not he'd meant to, "Usually," Her voice was low and nigh breathless, "But sometimes I settle. Settling, it turns out," It was at that moment she leaned slightly to his side, poking his shoulder appraisingly with her index finger, "Settling isn't so bad. Better, even."

The intent behind her words was probably lost in the maelstrom of Lyn's own mind, probably misinterpreted anyhow in Kole's synthetic mind, but her gaze affixed again on the apartment complex they were trying to navigate to, "Take that exit, try that." She gestured to a stream of traffic that was peeling off from their current jam, "Gotta get there before any other hunters they hired for this get there or something." It wasn't out of the question for parties desperate to answers to hire multiple mercs to get the answers they needed, but they never thought about what happens when those mercs are forced to cross paths. Hopefully it was just the two of them.

Three's a crowd, four's a problem, after all.

Kole hadn't quirked one brow, now. No, this time both shot up in a moment. Her language was all that suggestive, and it was entirely new to a man such as himself. This attention existed, but not in such a direct manner. Then again, he brushed most of them off before they were able to get in this many words. Suppose none of them particularly piqued his interest, and that there was simply something about Lynnori that kept him captivated. Even if he hadn't let it show for one reason or another, but by now it was allowing her to do all the work. Kole hadn't the faintest of ideas in regards to social nuances, and to allow someone else to take the reigns and lead them in a certain direction was something he wasn't entirely opposed to.

"Settling." Kole repeated in a rather bland tone of voice, "Hmph." Is what followed shortly thereafter. His eyes had turned back to the traffic-lanes upon saying it, accelerating into the lane that Lyn had brought to his attention. Descending into the former home of Darius the Holo-Star. It was luxurious, that was for sure. You could afford such things when you were as famous as he, however. Maybe one day, Kole, maybe one day.

Nobody could have missed the wry, self-indulgent, overly-pleased smirk on Lyn's face as she sat back in the seat on their descent. Of course, the entire building Darius had been residing at was cordoned off by bright holographic police tape and droids that looked like they'd sooner smash faces than engage in crowd diplomacy. Some fans had left flowers, small memorials where they were allowed to, to the beloved actor who had seemingly touched so many lives. It might have warmed Lyn's heart if it didn't look awfully tacky, and if the aforementioned droids didn't stomp all over them whilst patrolling the border.

"So, gonna do that thing to get us in? Maltoya had the penthouse, by the way." Lyn reminded Kole needlessly, siding up next to him like she had before, blue hair still tied up behind her head from her precautions in the morgue. There hadn't been a need to take it down yet, and it kept it out of the way still, but she preferred the look of down and loose. Personal preference. Slipping her hands into the pockets of her jacket, she let Kole take over in getting them in and past this roadblock. He was the one who said he had a way, after all.

"Work your magic."

Confidence. It was absolutely key in a scenario such as this. The Speeder they travelled in had arrived on the mouth of the platform, both doors opening with a soft hiss, folding upwards and creating enough room for either of them to depart with ease. Kole's demeanour was calm, his expression was neutral; internally he grinned, ready to 'work his magic'. A large metallic figure, made of a stainless metal that didn't have a scratch on it made it's way towards Kole and Lynnori, presuming she was by his side. Kole emitted a whistle, and a piece of the vehicle behind him dislodged, revealing a Drone that begin to whir throughout the air and make it's way inside. A useful tool, but one that made his act all the more convincing.

"Identification." The Droid made clear, it's baritone yet digitised voice spoke aloud. A little intimidating to the individual that wasn't familiar, but not for Kole, surely.

The HRD reached into his coat pocket, grasping a hold of an item that was thrust forwards, folding outwards. His Coruscant Security Force ID had been reinstated, unlawfully, enabling easy access to ay crime scene he desired. The Droid had stood still, unmoving in it's entirety before replying, "Welcome, Officer." The ID found it's way into Kole's pocket once more, a glance to Lynnori that retained a blank expression with a hint of smugness to it. It's what he was, maybe that was the impressive feature he was found to flex sooner or later.

The Droids remained at the entrance and exit, none moving inside. They were capable of perusing with ease. Left alone, just the two of them.
