STRENGTHS

• High Quality: The material distribution in the armor composite provides a high range of protection, particularly against energy weapons and kinetic impacts. It is somewhat less resistant against vibro-lacerations, but can survive a few glancing blows from a lightsaber.
  
  
• Dark Side: The Sarrassian iron in the composite resonates with the Dark Side. This can enhance Sith battle meditation over officers who wear the armor, and provides a limited resistance against Light Side powers.

WEAKNESSES

• Dark Stench: The Sarrassian iron can be felt and sensed by those who are force-sensitive. A Jedi, for example, would have no trouble picking an officer out of the bunch. Besides that, the iron gives the officer armor a unique red tint, which sets them apart from standard troopers by eye, too.
  
  
• Force Nullification: The application of force nullification or similar effects will negate the benefits of the iron.
  
  
• Limited Coverage: The armor pieces do not provide full-body coverage, leaving much of the body glove exposed.

DESCRIPTION

The officer-variant bears one key difference compared to the Sith Covenant’s standard battle armor: the inclusion of Sarrassian iron overlay. The iron overlay gives it a distinctive red hue and resonates with the Dark Side of the Force. This latter quality has two benefits. First, the soldier inside the armor has increased resistance to the Light Side. For example, a Jedi Knight’s Light-derived battle meditation would have less effect on their mind. The opposite would be true for Sith, however. A battlelord's own meditation would be amplified by the armor.

Covenant officers in communion with their Sith masters are then capable of greater coordination and battlefield presence, inspiring fear and discipline in the troops under their command. This is all very impressive, if you ask the Sith, but the Sarrassian iron does not otherwise improve the quality of the armor itself. For added protection, Hydian-Wyl produced a higher-quality composite. Additional chromium to increase its energy resistance, and a denser flexisteel weave to increase overall durability.

Nonetheless, the officer-variant battle armor maintains the same weaknesses as the standard armor. The coverage is somewhat limited, with well-exposed underarms, inner thighs, and portions of the torso and back that would otherwise be covered by full-body armor.
