SPECIAL FEATURES

• Reversible: In most instances, the Academy Cloak is worn with an elegant blue and white pattern displayed on the outside that has become almost synonymous with jedi on Commenor and within much of the Silver Jedi Concord itself. However, it can be reversed to display an almost featureless, light brown side that offers the wearer a more discrete appearance to better blend in with more humble people and natural environments.
• Biological Component: The Defensa material used throughout the cloak has barabel-based microbes, whose life automatically gives the cloak a noticeable presence within the Force which is distinct to each cloak. This provides a means to readily identify the cloak to a particular jedi to the initiated, while the microbe's signature almost blends into most backgrounds to those who aren't familiar with its owner. These microbes can also be manipulated through the Force itself, which a skilled user might use to "heal" the cloak or manipulate through the Force with other powers. It is common to see these cloaks being used as objects in Force power lessons for this very reason.

STRENGTHS

• Lightsaber Resistant: An extensive weave of songsteel permeates the entire cloak, providing the wearer with excellent protection from lighters.
• Energy Resistant: The base layer of the cloak is made out of Defensa, which is known for its energy resistance through insulating spun-plast, energy absorption from microbes and armorweave, and heat resistance from thermal gel.
• Kinetic Resistant: Defensa's thermal gel pockets stiffen up and absorb kinetic energy upon impact before spreading its energy across the rest of the connected cloak, providing the user with reasonable protection from many physical threats.

WEAKNESSES

• Susceptible (Sonic Weapons): Defensa provides very little protection against sonic weapons due to its lightweight construction and frequent fluid pockets (through which sound transmits through easier than many solid materials of similar depth).
• Susceptible (Radiation Weapons): Neither Defensa nor the thin Songsteel weave provide much protection from radiation weapons, in large part due to its thin and flexible layers. Perhaps even worse, the microbes embedded in the weave are living things, and radiation (aside from heat from weapons like blaster bolts) consequently can quickly kill them. This not only can lessen Defensa’s protection against energy weapons, but the debris from their destruction can rapidly become enmeshed with other debris or frayed fabric strands, leading to reduced flexibility that cannot be repaired..
