"Yeah, so do I. For Kellan, anyway".

Balun had been smart enough to ensure that by the time Kellan came of age, and should anything happen to him due to the risks associated with his line of work, a trust fund had been arranged and steadily increasing in financial value as the years went by. Already, the kid had enough to pay for a small fleet, but he wouldn't be able to touch any of it until he was in his twenties unless Balun made some changes.

"Hope you don't mind, but I've also put you and Makai down on the trust as well, just in case anything should happen. If I'm not around to be able to help my boy manage it, both of you have nothing but my full confidence," he informed Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell , glancing over at his father with a bit of an apprehensive eye. It was an awkward and grim thing to discuss, but it was the truth, and he wanted his father to be in the know.

"Moving back to the subject of my mother, though", he kept the conversation going, more than happy to remove them from the subject of their own mortality; "How exactly would you lure her out? Besides, if I do get access to all of her assets, that might do the trick too" he suggested, though shrugged his shoulders as if he were only making guesses at this point. That was the case with his mother; he never really knew anything.

"I think for a normal person touching the assets would lure someone out of hiding. However, last I ran into your mother she was a little...disheveled. Something tells me credits don't concern her, if that is your thought. Unless you're thinking she's monitoring the accounts to see if we're researching her."

Judah shrugged as well. Legs crossed as his attention flicked to the shockboxing match for a few moments. Two new opponents had moved onto the screen, ready to take their places and begin. Expression turned into a frown for a small moment as he was working through a few ideas in his head. One had crossed his mind before.

"We can put a bounty on her. Alive, naturally. Just for capture or location." Judah gave a long pause, looking concerned. "You know I would have taken care of your mother right? I still would now, if she would listen to me. Don't think I'm just a jerk or something out here. I'm not."

He still took care of Makai's mother. Despite what others thought - that he was a complete ass or something similar - he wasn't. Judah shouldn't have to clarify that with his son, but he felt it was better left said.

"Dad, you don't have to worry about that chit. You've given me more than anyone in this life. My Mother, for whatever reason, made her own choices. You're not responsible for her, anymore than I am," Balun spoke with a frown, not wishing for Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell to feel that, somehow, the actions of Kristyl Arenais Kristyl Arenais reflected upon him as a parent, or an individual as a whole. "As far as I'm concerned, you've been the best thing to happen to me. Finding out I had a father out there, let alone Makai as well...-It changed my life in ways I'd only dreamed of. I never actually saw myself being a part of a family, but that's thanks to you".

Judah had been the one to discover Balun, his bloodwork a DNA match with his father's. With a little help from his own pocket and a few credits in the right direction, Judah had managed to contact Balun, and they had both finally been given the chance to get to know one another. An opportunity that they should have had long ago, but were denied that right by Balun's Mother.

"And she obviously thinks she can take care of herself, given she's chosen that kind of life. Being on the run from the Imperial Security Bureau, she's probably had to be in hiding for a good long while. They're the type to infiltrate other organisations just to have eyes and ears on the competition," Balun added, thinking about the Imperial connection with his Mother and what kind of life she might have been living as a consequence.

"No need to thank me, I haven't done much."

Which was true. Sure he had found Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell about twenty years too late but perhaps better late than never. Judah did his best to be available for Balun - advice or just to listen, to try to find out the unlock of how one suddenly parents a grown child. Different if Balun would have grown up even in partial custody under his roof.

"I'm sure she can take care of herself - just saying I don't shirk my duties. Yet back to bringing her out of hiding, maybe not the bounty right now. Let's push harder for you to gain your claim to the family assets and see if she drags herself away from hunting the ISB. If not, if you want to talk to her, I'll track her down for you."

He nodded his agreement with the notion of securing his claim to the House Arenais Humanitarian Trust, not having much to add. Truthfully, he couldn't help but feel a little bothered by the fact that the conversation had turned back to him and away from his father's interest, not to mention that once again, his mother was the root of his problems.

"Sorry, I wanted to talk to you about how you've been, and we wound up talking about me and...Well, her", he apologised, voicing his regret. "You, Makai and them are all the family I need, Pop. You've done more for me than you recognise, but I guess selling yourself short is a Dashiell trait," he forced a smirk at Judah. That's exactly what he seemed to be doing in Balun's mind, refusing to acknowledge the influence he had been to his youngest son.

"I know you've got a lot weighing on you, but I want you to know that for me, the past is buried. I've got you guys now, I've let that chit go. There's no blame on your part; you can't know something you've never been made aware of, and I'm just happy to be here with you guys now. This is the family I've always wanted, so keep that in mind, okay?" he told his father, speaking sincerely in the hope that it might rest well with Judah.

"You've never really said it out loud, but I've often wondered. So, y'know, just in case..." Balun tried to justify what he had just said, as though he needed a reason or an excuse to care about his father's emotional state.

"Family you've always wanted? Poor kid."

Judah gave a self-deprecating chuckle. He was naturally guilty, wasn't sure if anyone in the universe who wouldn't be. Balun seemed to be fine with it though, and that's all that mattered right now. His guilt would stay but it was rarely had the forefront and typically only reared its head in situations such as this. Given Bale was a father now, Judah suspected he understood on some small level.

"I don't have too much going on. You want to travel out together and hit up the Mahina Shipyards on Mnemosyne? Apparently part of the asset package of yours. Could be useful for your business and it would be a real boys trip - me, you, Kellan. Given your age and how long your mother has been on the run...I mean, I doubt they are in use but I love bringing things like that back to life. All part of being a salvager."

"Please, our family's awesome. Makai and I are both successful; he has his family, and I've got Kellan. There isn't any real drama between us. What's not to love?" Balun challenged his father's sarcastic remark, sharing the humour in it as he grinned back at Judah Dashiell Judah Dashiell ; "It sure as chit beats having no family at all".

Balun took the final drag from his cigarra before leaning forward to stub it out in the ashtray, just as his father mentioned the Mahina Shipyards on Mnemosyne, clearly piquing his interest. He glanced back at Judah with a slight incline of his head, "Mnemosyne?" He needed clarification, "That's where Iona Starchaser Iona Starchaser lives", he added as if to explain his sudden intrigue. Though the shipyards certainly did send his blood rushing through his veins, the coincidence couldn't be overlooked.

"House Arenais has some sort of connection to Mnemosyne, then?" he asked further, trying to see the link between his maternal heritage and the planet itself. They had chosen a curious location to set up business, and to find that said business dealt with starship construction, which was right up his alley; it all seemed too good to be true.
