GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Name: Shgurak aka “Vran’Ti sky dragon”

  • Designation: Semi Sentient

  • Origins: Genetic Experiment on Vran'Ti species.

  • Average Lifespan: 150 standard years

  • Estimated Population: Planetary

  • Description: Shgurak’s are a race of reptilian creatures native to Vran'Ti, but which were heavily genetically altered to greatly increase their size and intellectual capacity making them far more dangerous, but excellent for proving ones worth by domesticating.

  • PHYSICAL INFORMATION

  • Breathes: Type 1

  • Average Height of Adults: 7-9 meters

  • Average Length of Adults: 20-25 m

  • Skin color: A Vran’ti dragon can be almost any color and pattern as adults, but will change colors as youths.

  • Hair color: None

  • Distinctions: [

  • Shguraks are very large creatures with immense wingspans, scaled bodies, often possessing horns or spikes, reptilian features, and with the ability to produce a flame from there mouths. It is often very difficult to distinguish males from females purely by body type, but adult females are typically larger.

  • Races: Though traits are usually somewhat hereditary almost any Shgurak dragon can be just as alike or different from one another.

  • Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
Strengths:

  • Intelligent: Shguraks are alarmingly intelligent. And actively consider potential threats, learning quickly from previous ones. They have even proven themselves capable of understanding some languages and social cues of sentient races, as well as some understanding of how to use tools or weapons such as dropping stones or fighting each other using trees.

  • Companionship: Shguraks can make excellent companions, but usually only to a few. They have mates, and then they have companions, these are very different things to a Shgurak and they require both. Although naturally they have other dragons as their friends, it has occured that they may have best friends as their Vran owners if circumstances, and the personality of the dragon and person, are right.

  • Camouflage: As youths Shguraks are able to alter their colorations and can make adjustments to their scales, horns, and even wings, in order to fit in with their surroundings or situation much better. These ultimately will end up becoming their future more permanent form.

  • Scales: A Shguraks body is covered in scales and horns which make it incredibly resistant to physical damage, but especially to energy based weaponry. Or, more often, the fire produced by other Shguraks. It is immensely hard to damage a Shgurak with heat or energy as their bodies are built to withstand it. It is these same scales that make them resistant to lightsabers even to some extent.

  • Power: A shgurak is very large, and as a result, immensely powerful. Their wings allow them to fly great distances, and can even permit them to sleep while in the sky. A flap of the wings will easily send human sized beings flying as it requires a lot of force to lift a creature of its size of the ground. Additionally it’s swipes of its claws and tail can deal pretty heavy damage.

  • Fire: Shguraks spit a very flammable liquid from their mouth in a similar way to some spit glands, in their case it can reach around 70 meters before it either has to be ignited or it’ll just spray, or it simply reaches the distance in which it is truly efficient. A dragon ignites it by vibrating two mineral like pieces in its mouth together which heat up and spark the liquid.

  • The hunt: Most Dragons will dive to get their food. Picking on things big enough to provide some sustenance, scarfing them down, then finding another. Others prefer the fish which are very plentiful in the seas, the dragons can close their nostrils and will find and dive down picking up easy mouthfuls of fish at a time before going on.

  • Claws: A dragons claws are actually very sharp, strong, and incredibly durable and can take immense amount of power to destroy. They make for excellent tools when hunting prey as they can grab things with all four when attacking from the sky.
Weaknesses:

  • Food: A dragon requires an immense amount of food, almost entirely comprised of meat. As a result they can prove difficult to feed unless left to their own devices. Domesticated dragons as a result are almost exclusively held by the wealthy

  • Independence: Although very social creatures, a dragon is incredibly independent and hates taking commands. It takes incredibly difficult to domesticate a dragon and often requires the combination of a Vo Ni and a skilled crew to catch and convince one to obey. Furthermore, if separated from its master too long it may refuse to follow them. If it’s forced to obey something that causes it harm in its masters command it may turn on them, and they’re prone to only being willing to follow a single person.

  • Visible: It can be hard to hide a dragon without considerable cover. And even if you could, unless the dragon has been very well trained, its breathing or the sound of it moving can alarm most creatures, and the smell of the chemical it uses to produce flame often sets off alarms in creatures that recognize the smell.

  • Cold: A dragon can resist cold for awhile, however time in any temperature below 14.4 degrees celsius and it will begin to slip into hybernation. If a dragon is exposed to freezing temperatures for even 15 minutes it can cause it to suffer extreme pain and even may perish. This hibernation is also a tendency during the winter when it would be too difficult for a dragon to leave their groups. Rather they will often go into a sleep with at least another three dragons, occasionally letting out breaths of flame to keep one another warm when they began to get too cold.

  • Proof of power: Because Shguraks are biological beings and have some thoughts. They can be scared into submission. While most of the dragons will only obey their owners, as their owners are almost always the most powerful due to being experienced force sensitives (typically) who force them into obedience, if another individual were to either beat their owner easily in front of them or beat them with more ease and aggression then their owner, they could be swayed into obeying that individual in place.

  • Dragon vs ship: While dragons are dangerous creatures and can take on some fighters in individual combat. They aren't the most viable option against heavily armed fighters. They are bets for being used against ground forces or ships with low or mediocre offensive weaponry. They would also most certainly be vulnerable to areal assaults overhead, as their wingspan would be larger then that of a normal fighter resulting in an easier target.

  • Animal control: Although it is difficult to do so due to their high intelligence, for an animal, unlike a ship a Shgurak could potentially be turned through the force. This would of course require more effort then typical for a force user, but it could be done.

  • Illusions: Shguraks could be deceived by sensory illusions, as they do not typically have the intelligence to realize they are false, or even if they know something is wrong, it's unlikely that they believe it's an illusion and not just a mistake on their part.
CULTURE

  • Diet: Carnivore. Exclusively feeds off meat of other animals and fish. If starving will eat some of the larger insects.

  • Communication: Dragons communicate to each other mostly through roars, screaming sounds, whistling, bursts of fire, and various body movements, having a very complex dialect for being not fully sentient. And can even learn to understand many other words, sounds, or looks, from other species.

  • Technology level: They can use very basic tools but cannot make anything more then tearing off a tree to use to stab or beat something. If given a weapon that their massive talons could use, they might be able to learn how to wield it, but could not build one.

  • Religion/Beliefs: They do not possess the intelligence to truly have a belief system.

  • General behavior:

  • Vran’ti Dragons are social creatures and enjoy the company of others on occasion, though they do not travel in groups they may sleep in them as long as it won’t threaten their eating habits. They are curios creatures and like to study things that are interesting to them, solving puzzles, or making bedding for themselves with unusual objects. They take care of their youths usually until they are old enough to fend for themselves, which isn’t that long, but then they may still stick with them for awhile afterwards regardless. It is not unheard of for a Vran’Ti sky dragon to even take the company of other species, as long as they met them under circumstances in which they didn’t see them as prey. Although very difficult to domesticate a Vran’Ti dragon, if it is done right, the dragon can be very loyal and has even become friendly to its owner. Though when it comes to such an occasion regarding sentients, it may be very picky which it likes the company of.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Vran’Ti Sky Dragons are actually a genetically altered race of winged lizards on Vran’Ti. Originally being only around nine inches long, the sky dragons could do little more then catch insects and small animals. They used camoflouge to hide from other more dangerous predators. However upon the arrival of the humans who would become the Vran, they began to put some under genetic alterations. Making them larger and larger and increasing their resistances to damages, making them more intelligent, until the species became the massive Shgurak that people see today used by some Vo Ni or incredibly rich individuals of the world. The species itself was released into the wild and has essentially found it’s place among the environment, making them the perfect challenge for Vo Ni seeking to prove themselves to domesticate one due to the extreme power they possess. As they have always done, a Shgurak reproduces with eggs, which are fairly large in size. They often hide these inside either very dense locations where other creatures can't get to, or that are too dangerous for others to even try, such as a volcano. Or they may dig a deep hole specifically for them to hide their egg in, knowing other then dragons it would be dangerous for anything to go there.

So there are a couple of things I'm gonna make a few initial suggestions for this submission that will be detailed below:
  • In origins, the sentence seems to be incomplete
  • So right now we have 8 strengths and 4 weaknesses, and only one of those weaknesses is really exploitable in a combat situation. My suggestion would be to add one or two more that can actually come during a combat roleplay situation.
  • On top of that, I had a question about the camouflage strength as it isn't exactly clear if adults lose the ability once they are no longer considered a youth.

Checking in on this submission again as it will be archived for inactivity in 24 hours otherwise
I apologize I'll get right on it. I was on an unnanounced semi-hiatus because I was really busy. I'll probably be able to get a response in on this tomorrow after edits.

I have attempted to update them and invovled more weaknesses, most revolving around them being biological beings.

As far as the camoflouge goes it does mention "These ultimately will end up becoming their future more permanent form." when it comes to the camouflage.
