Shadow of the Republic [dominion of Kashyyyk]

With the Trandoshans fighting and holding as long as they could the twenty hunters were unfortunately no match for the powers of three force masters and their students. Falling one by one out of the trees or being sliced to pieces on the ground the men had tallied their final life score and were sent up to the goddess in the sky. After a few minutes the forest around the firefight went dark and only the sounds of sabers humming were left, the Republic had won that little skirmish. But there was no mistake that this wasn't over yet, the republic forces were on the fringe of the shadowlands and deeper into the forest the wound of the darkside only grew stronger and stronger.

Blood flowed on the table in rivers through its grooves, beautiful tapestries of sacrifice and evil being painted red from the blood of the innocent. The spell was almost charged and the the darkside around the table was pouring off in visible waves of black and purple smoke, and atop the table there was the entity of the hour.

Requiem stood atop the table, in their hand he held a bloodied dagger that had sigils and runes carved into it, with a tight grip on it the dark entity lifted their hands up into the air to show their blood stained body to the other wookie children that were forced to stay there from the last of the remaining trandoshan hunters. The republic were gaining ground and they would be upon the table soon, this had to be pulled off now before it was too late. The nexus was forming and that power was starting to reach critical mass.

She passed through it, and suddenly the muted sunlight was gone, and the space before her was revealed only by Raven's infrared sensors and the beams of the landing lights.

She killed the last of her forward motion, then lowered the ship onto its landing struts, using her repulsors.
Immediately she received a message on the comms, insisting she immediately turn off all power in Raven except for the batteries to power the airlocks, and to do it now!

"Okay, okay," she muttered, doing as she was told. "Keep your fur on …."

Quickly she killed all the power, save for the batteries. The interior of the ship was now lit only by the weak, red-tinted emergency lights.

Outside, something clanged against the ship’s armour-plating.

"Hey!"

Hitting the ‘open ramp’ release, she raced down, then stopped in wonder. When she'd first flown into the ‘cave’ it had seemed a tight fit, but now she realised the place was so big it had echoes.

Back at the entrance, a hydraulic lift whined as it raised a huge ‘curtain’ of some kind of camouflage net over the entrance. Teams of Wookiees were busily draping Raven in more netting.

Mantic stood still for a moment. the darkness settled around them as the forest was accompanied by silence apart from the humming of their sabers.

He unlit his and hung it to his belt.

"We are close." he answered [member="Rafeesh"] "These were just distractions. Meant to buy this evil time for whatever sinister purpose lies behind it all." Mantic placed his cupped hands over his lobes and massaged them lightly.

"You spoke of a possessed sith lord..." he continued to [member="Keira Ticon"]
She had spoken about it casually, but regardless Mantic was guessing she was more capable of knowing these things then she made an appearance of.

"We need to move with haste." he then decided without further consultation. "If anyone has anything of use to add, now is the time."
He hoped to be able to learn more soon, but he was also sensing that something terrible was about to happen. He followed the trail of darkness that he had sensed on the beach. Hopefully it would lead them to wherever and whatever was behind all of this.

"Possessed is the best way to put it." Even if Keira didn't exactly believe in any sort of supernatural entities, she could think of no better analogy. Whatever had been encountered in the forest was far more sinister than any single Sith Lord. "The way they spoke to me made it seem like they weren't from this galaxy, or any kind of sentient species at all." Her saber was disengaged, but she refused to relinquish it from her grasp. Not while there was still a very real possibility of being confronted at any moment. "All I know is this thing isn't like us. Alive, I mean. Or at least, not anymore." Perhaps in some sense they resembled the Wookiees that had been revived, but even that didn't seem to fit.

Almost immediately after the minute conversation with the Sith her mind had turned to all that she had read in the Jedi Archives when she still resided on Ossus so long ago, and it was that knowledge she dredged up now. "When I still studied as a Jedi Padawan the archives mentioned ancient Sith spirits causing things like this. That's the only conclusion I've been able to draw, but that doesn't feel right. This one's presence is darker. I've fought a few Sith and worked with more to know what to expect, and this isn't it." She sighed quietly, shaking her head as they walked. "I'm tired of just talking about it, though. If we're going to get anything done, it's going to be through killing something or someone." Whether he liked it or not.

Sanya Val Lerium

Neutral, Queen of Her people, Neko
(1/20)

Kashyyyk the last time Sanya had visited here was in the devastating attack against the one sith. Now things seemed worse here than it was. Undead hoards swarmed the villages and settlements and once again the republic and jedi fighting to maintain it's safety and remove the soulless abominations. Of course she heard this over the com's while she was in the vicinity. Distress signals flooded everything and from all over that a plague had broke out. Sanya had never dealt with the undead and it was the old empires fault this was in existence. There are some lines that should never be crossed and this was one. Life and death should never be something people could dictate. Death was an aspect that made life worth every second of living and something that shouldn't be taken for granted.

Her ship hurdled to the ground and above the canopy looking for an opening. She didn't want to risk landing so her ship would be sent on auto pilot till she needed to get out. She didn't know what the beasts where like, did they have intelligence? Or just mindless corpses attacking like wild animals? Soon a gap in the canopy would show it's self and Sanya would bring the ship to a stand still letting the ship slowly sink into the trees. All she needed was a good spot to jump from the back of the ship to a strong enough branch. One soon passed the window and the ship would stop and spin to the left quite fast, the ramp would open up as it did. Her fingers typed away at the console and setting it to go into orbit.

Sanya would get to her feet and clipped the sabers to her belt she even put on her full face mask due to it's better visuals. then again the thermal wouldn't be so useful if the body's where just cold hunks of violent biting meat. She stood at the cockpit door looking out to the back, it left enough room for Sanya to get a little bit of a run for momentum to jump. Her feet would move one in front of the other till she reached the end of the ramp and leaped. Her arms would extend outwards ready to wrap around the thick branch.

Her body would hit with a thud and hurting her chest a little on impact but it was expected and she was prepared for it. After all during when she was a padawan she was always up in the trees to think and escape life. A rough childhood did that to a person. Pulling her self up and twisting her body to sit down for a second her eyes would watch the ship rise back up and shoot off. "Well there goes my ride." She said to herself. Patching in to the republic com's the chatter was a little quieter. "This is Sanya Val Lerium calling out to all republic personnel. I have touched down and well need orders. Dose anyone copy?"

Rafeesh followed his master as he moved down the path. Rafeesh felt through the Force, the darkness was overpowering. He found it difficult to concentrate. The distraction of the mercenaries was not necessary for him. The darkness was enough.

He began going through calming techniques. Slowing his breathing; feeling the Force as a web, as Mantic kept calling it; and contemplating his role in this galaxy. It was not much, but he felt better and found that the dark side was not holding him, nor did he feel the urge to turn or use the darkness to strengthen him. But he doubted it would last, he was willing to wager that the darkness only got stronger the closer they got to its focal point.

Wiess, stepped over the last corpse as it was being tossed upon the pile.

"Light em up." he ordered and pulled out a cigarr from his vest. The 313th had been rounding up bodies in the wake of the beach head assualt for hours now. The orders were clear. Burn the remains of the infected. It was not a pleasent job but it had to be done.

"You heard the doc, we can not really tell when its dead or not. Just burn it all and be done with it." He leaned forward and watched the pyre grow in strength. With a grimace he used the fire to light his ciggarr and started to puff.
It looked like they were done here so he produced his map and started to look for the next village that needed their "care."

"This is Sanya Val Lerium calling out to all republic personnel. I have touched down and well need orders. Dose anyone copy?" The open frequency picked up.

Weiss furrowed a brow. Things were messy and allies were welcome but he had no idea who this was.

"Copy that miss Lerium. This is Captain Weiss of the 313th Republic marines. What is your position and how can you help more precisely?" he answered lowering his holo map for a moment.

the sense of urgency made Mantic to start move with haste. Whatever was doing all of this was near by. But something was terribly wrong. He acknowledged [member="Keira Ticon"] with a nod and assured himself of that [member="Rafeesh"] and [member="stardust"] were nearby before rushing off. He had seen [member="Turin Val Kur"] on the beach before and was hoping that he would be along sometime soon as well.

The dense forest was hard to traverse and While the force empowered his movement he still needed to stop at times trying to get directions from the more and more obvious trails for darkness that [member="Requiem"] was causing.
His pauses did however give those of lesser atonement to the force a chance to keep up. And then, finally he reached a glade, so concentrated with the dark side that Mantic came to a full stop.

"Embrace yourself padawan...." he managed as he slowed down and tried to get a better overview on what was up there.

"Let me guess,” she said out loud, surveying the ‘nets.’ "Those things contain either jamming nodes or they send out some kind of camouflage frequency, so we can’t be traced."

A Wookiee’s voice confirmed her guess. She had surmised that local Wookiees used this landing site to receive smuggled goods.

Corvus still couldn't believe she was standing inside a tree. No, not a tree, but a tree branch. If one branch of a wroshyr was this big, the idea of the whole tree was mind-boggling.

She walked toward the front of the ‘cave’ where she was met by a crowd of Wookiees. She had some trouble following the conversation, because he wasn't used to hearing seven Wookiees talking rapidly all at the same time.

Three of the Wookiees were siblings with whorls of auburn hair. A smaller, chestnut coloured female was a cousin, and a darker brown male, was another cousin. The others were members of the Wookiee underground resistance movement, who had come in especially to meet her and receive her cargo.

And it was the youngest Wookieethat was the underground resistance's leader. The Wookiees listened to her with a great deal of respect. She consulted regularly with her father, a burly male who was the first Wookiee with black fur Corvus had ever seen. He had a stripe of silver-colored fur running down his back, which was evidently a family trait, for his daughter had one, too, though her fur was brown and tan.

Within the shadowlands of the wookie home world darkness more vile than what had previously existed came into form. like a puddle of shapeless water hardening into ice the darkside nexus finished forming as the bodies and blood of wookie children stained and littered the ground around it. Literal waves of the darkside pulsed around the table, thick black and purple clouds of smoke that tumbled down around the surviving children that held each other close. It was complete.

Within its hand the entity held the dagger that had slain so many. But it didn't seem to be over quite yet, with its dagger in hand the specter slammed it into the center of the table as it jumped down.

"U ISHI BURZUM!!" The entity bellowed out as it raised both of its arms.

Then the darkness emanating around the stone table stopped growing, the darkness began to visibly recede yet it could still be felt through the force. It wasn't leaving, no it was being channeled. The dagger implanted on the stone table's runes began to glow red as the darkside energy around the table began to enter the weapon. Was this what all this death was about? The weapon upon the table? Whatever was happening the possessed Sith had their attention on it and the guards around them had yet to see the Jedi spying on them due to all the darkness and evil that was abound. The ritual was nearly complete, and the republic needed to move fast or be destroyed.

Rafeesh continued to fight to keep up. He felt weary and tired, he found his eyes closing on their own and he had to shake himself awake more than once. He continued on though, fighting the darkness that seemed to be doing everything to stop him. Every single time he tried to remember the Force, turn back to it and lean on it for strength. He called it to help him fight this weakness. One that had been growing within him for how long he could not tell.

He took it step by step, willing himself forward, calling on the Force to aid him. He would not be beaten this time. He was not the Sith he had once been, he was a Jedi now and he would prove it to himself and the galaxy. He could and would fight until death, but he would not give in. He would push on, he promised himself.

He held his saber tightly in his right hand, it was the only thing that felt real. The aches coming from his body, the sounds, the sights, they all seemed like a dream, a nightmare. He knew they were not, but they just did not look real. It didn't feel real, the situation. He focused as best he could, knowing that the last battle would soon be upon them, smiling grimly. Perhaps death would take him now of all times.

Mantic both saw and felt the hideous ending of the ritual. Wookie children covering in fear beneath what appeared to be a sacrificial altar.

There was some sort of figure standing in front of it all, the dagger emanating an equal powerful dark side presence.

"I presume that this is what you were talking about." he asked [member="Keira Ticon"] and furrowed a brow. there was no time to lay down tactics. The darkness had to be stopped straight away and the children saved. He was worried about his padawans state of mind though and it made him hesitate one more second.

"Once we engage, make sure the wookie children are brought away from the site padawan. You are not to join us battling this spirit." he finally instructed [member="Rafeesh"] with a stern tone.
Used to be obeyed to the letter by his padawans he then turned to [member="stardust"] [member="Turin Val Kur"] and [member="Keira Ticon"]
He said nothing but he believed they all knew his thoughts. With a nod he turned his attention toward ther darkness ahead.

Then with a a flick of his hand he lit his green blade and flew forth through the tree line and into the glade. Landing in the midst of the guards he swung straight to the right, leaving one of the sith guards without legs from the knee and down. As he continued the same movement his saber continued around and sliced a second guards belly. A force push sent a third flying across the glade and into a group of comrades standing on the opposite side.
Mantic had but one goal. to reach the entity as fast as possible.

After several minutes of confusion, one of the Wookiees roared an order to his friends. She caught most of it. Something about, "Fetch a quulaar." What are quulaars, she wondered.

She soon found out. A long bag-like piece of woven fabric — or was it woven hair? — was produced. The Wookiee turned to her, and pointed from the Corellian to the quulaar. She stared, incredulous, and shook her head. "Get inside? You want me to crawl into that thing?”

“So you can carry me up the trees? I can climb, just as good as you can."

The Wookiee shook his head. Then he grabbed her arm, and hustled the Corellian over to the entrance to the cave, and, lifting the camouflage hanging, gestured for Corvus to step outside, onto the lip of the cave.

She walked over to the lip and cautiously leaned over to look down.

She'd known it intellectually, of course, but it was one thing to know it with her brain, another to know it in her gut. She was kilometres high in the air. Below her the forest went on…and on…and on…

The tree trunks stretched down, past the point where her excellent eyesight could distinguish them from each other. Despite all her piloting experience and his outstanding sense of balance, the sight made her head swim for a moment. She walked back to the Wookiee, who by now was helpfully holding out the quulaar. When she hesitated, the Wookiee flexed his powerful hands and made his claws pop out. They were very sharp, and, coupled with great strength, would enable him to dig deep into a tree trunk when climbing.

"I'm gonna regret this,” she muttered, and climbed into the sack.

Rafeesh would have fought. He would have disagreed. He would have insisted on staying and helping. But he knew that it would have been a wasted effort. He knew that it was a better idea to obey. He knew that he would not survive unscathed from the encounter. He knew that to stay was to invite death. And part of him wanted that. Part of him wanted to die, that part which felt most homesick hope for death to relieve him of something that would never be taken away. The darkness had chosen his weak spot well. This attack was more perfect than anything else it could have.

Yet he fought that, and prevailed. As soon as his master had jumped into the fray Rafeesh ran as quietly as possible around the fighting area. He waited in the trees for his chance, he could not simply run and snatch them, the spirit would see him and probably kill him, he had to wait for a bigger distraction.

As Jordun and Commander Hadrix walked to the elevator, Jordun kept sensing darkness around them.. there was something very fishy going on here. Only four troopers stayed with them, while the others scoured around looking for clues. As the elevator went up the giant tree, Jordun tried to explain to [member="Ali Hadrix"] his situation, "Commander, there is a feeling here that I can't describe but i know it means trouble". She nodded at Darko until they heard a loud noise coming from the top of the elevator. Suddenly, a large rock crashed down from the roof of the elevator through the middle of the floor. Jordun looked up through the hole and groaned "Wookies".

She growled and gripped her sabers, she'd attack when @mantic form attack.. And she'd release her full power on her enemies

I'll have you back master Jedi"she said and let a breath out before steeling herself

When mantic jumped she followed and landed in the middle of the group landing on one before her sabers activated and she spun slicing various parts off

She then focused on [member="Requiem"] and growled as she started slicing her way there

The possessed Sith felt the tremors through the force, it felt the light growing close as they sliced down their mind controlled guards. They were upon them and the ritual still needed time before it was completed, not much time but perhaps within the window of these Jedi doing something to prolong their plan. Letting out a low deep mechanical growl the entity had to fight with mortal tools and hands, as disgusting as it was.

"We are your unmakers mortals, we are your doom. You can not stop us from reclaiming what is ours." The entity said as it drew the saber at its side.

With the cross guard saber in its hand the red blades extended in its unique fashion and the entity faced the Jedi who came forth. Remaining on the table seeing to it that the dagger was protected. As for the dagger itself the nexus was draining into it at faster rates, the sigils burned with hot orange and red lights and it seemed as if it was ready to burst.

The nexus held the dagger firmly in its place, sparks flew from the table and blade and it seemed very unstable. As if removing the blade would cause an unknown but more than likely undesirable effect upon the forests of Kashyyyk.

"Keep the kids back." For someone who didn't particularly enjoy being in positions of command Keira was quick to take charge in most any combat scenario of the melee sort, against her better judgment willing a personal conflict with this threat. Within seconds the orange blade of her saber sprung into existence, and she was quick to join [member="Mantic Dorn"] and [member="stardust"] in their offensive, not hesitating in cutting down any and all that stood in her way, enjoying the feeling of exercising her athleticism to its full extent. The soreness that sung throughout her muscles was welcome, and it was some kind of remedy to inflict a similar, more permanent pain on others. Pain is power.

Even for one so well accustomed to the Dark Side the energy emanating from the stone table and the dagger buried up to the hilt in the center. A grimace flashed briefly across her face, and she shook her head in an attempt to clear that unwelcome fog from it, pushing through the darkness in an effort to clear her mind. Slowly she exhaled, drawing on the ethereal in an effort to slow her heart-rate and centralize her focus on the only goal that mattered at the moment: bringing down this entity. That ethereal fist within her core clenched unimaginably tight for mere milliseconds before she released it in a concentrated burst towards [member="Requiem"]. One way or another, he would move.

With the circle of brainwashed guards growing thinner very quickly under the attack launched by the three force users Mantic was hoping that they had gotten here in time to thwart the sith entity's foul rite.

He noticed his padawan stealth away to reach his own objective. [member="Rafeesh"] would need time and an opportunity to spirit away the children.

Then, the sith spoke words spewed forth like dark tentacles reaching for their hearts, trying to get hold on their fears.
Mantic could sense how his two companions were using their emotions to empower themselves. This was almost a greater concern to him then the guards still launching futile attacks toward him.
Would they become targets for the dark ones will? Could he be certain that they were not acting on the brink of the dark side?

It was regardless to late to reconsider. And as [member="Keira Ticon"] launched her force attack Mantic knew she was using a solid tactic. Interrupting the sith just might be what was necessary to hinder the ritual.

Quickly he followed suit and as he deflected a plasma bolt with his saber he threw up his left hand, sending another force push toward [member="Requiem"] - hopefully they would catch him being pushed from several directions.

Letting it's saber hover near its side the entity extended both of it's hands towards the force pushes sent by the masters, their destructive waves of powers rushing towards it to do bodily harm. But when the waves impacted the statue they were nothing but a light breeze that blew a few strands of hair from the alter. The monster had eaten them, the force power within the blasts were gone, simply sucked into the creatures being. The creature afterwards simply rolled it's neck and various cracks and pops could be heard beneath the robes.

"Is that your best, mortals?" The beast said in its robotic voice.

With a snap of its fingers the remaining Trandoshan guard's necks snapped and their bodies hit the ground. The wookie children all cried out in fear as they ran and scattered in various direction making sure to avoid the Sith and the table that still pulsed darkside energy that channeled into the dagger.

Reaching its left hand out the cross guard saber came back to it and activated, and within its right hand the phantom produced another hilt from its boot and ignited a more classic and traditional lightsaber. With the two blades humming in the monster's hands it simply vanished into thin air and appeared between the two. It's neck snapped and twisted as it looked over to Mantic.

"We will burn everything you love." The demon said to mantic as it simply stood there waiting for the attack between itself and the three masters.
