Intent: A set of reliable heavy armour for a guy who spends his time hunting critters.
Development Thread: None
Manufacturer: Rave Merrill and Seydon of Arda
Model: D'oemir Armour
Affiliation: Personal ([member="Seydon of Arda"])
Modularity: Not especially, but can be worn with other things.
Production: Unique
Material:
Classification: Anti-Critter
Weight: 15kg
Quality: 8
Special Features:
  • Resists lightsabre strikes, but not repeated blows or sustained contact.
  • Mitigates kinetic damage, such as from getting punched by a rancor. Seydon will still go flying, but minus the shattered ribs.
Description: The D'oemir Armour was made as a daily-wear set of heavy armour. Less obtrusive and hazardous than the armour that Rave had made Seydon previously, this suit is far less powerful in the Force. Notably, it has been made since Rave began her attempt at turning to the Light Side. The alchemist has experimented with a number of Light Side-oriented crafting arts, and this particular piece was made with reference to several of them. Based on materials specified and provided by the legendary monster hunter, Rave crafted a suit that will allow Seydon to pass unnoticed on pre-technological worlds, resist high-technological weapons, and survive the nastiest critters around.

The crucial element is the Uller bone. The bulk of Rave's experience lies in the hides and bones of Force-sensitive animals, and the Uller is not Force-sensitive. Since the Force is found in all life, though, she was still able to extract a mild effect and sustain it after death. Some of the Uller skeleton's kinetic resistance comes from its geometry, which she could not replicate. More comes from its composition, which transferred handily to properly cut bone inlays. An Uller's entire life is about kinetic resistance, and from the beast's spirit and the psychometric experiences in its bone, she drew impressions that affected the physical world in minor ways. She compounded the idea of resistance with the carving techniques of the Gesaril shamans and the Wookiee Upari-cutters -- all Light-side traditions. The end result was a set of bone inlays that dissipate blunt kinetic damage. The Force imbuement is, admittedly, a ramshackle composite thing that works mainly because Rave willed that it should work, a trait common to lesser alchemists' creations of the flaming-sword variety. As a result, we're not talking about a Force-based inertial dampener. If a Rancor swats Seydon, he'll still ragdoll, it's just that his ribs will crack instead of shatter.

(+) Moderate lightsabre resistance.
(+) Increased resistance to blunt trauma.
(-) Long Akk-scalehide surcoat can potentially get caught in things and create impediments in certain environments.
(-) As with all ring mail, a sufficiently nasty penetrating impact could drive broken rings into a wound. You do not want to get shot with a high-calibre slugthrower while wearing this.
