It had begun to rain a little, but the ceremony had to commence. All Advanced Weapons Research personnel had been gathered and now stood in straight rows and columns on one of the landing pads. Everyone looked to their right as Director Craig, Secretary Tranquility and Chris Walker emerged, flanked by Executor Troopers , from the tall tower of the Intelligence and Security Center. The group made their silent way down the long landing pad until they had reached the front row of the personnel.

Ben clasped his hands tightly together behind his back and cleared his throat. "You may be wondering why you have all been gathered here today." He yelled over the sound of raindrops hitting the durasteel deck. "Today marks an important day in history! The official formation of the Military Department of Advanced Weapons Research. Not only has today signaled it's formation, but the release of the new
Variable Effect Biological Weapon Number 489 produced by our scientists at The Nothmiro Federation! Many of you are aware of the potential this biological weapon is capable of, and I assure you that this is being put to good use!" He paused and gestured to Chris Walker, "Thanks to Chris Walker and others at the Nothmiro Federation, the key to the weapon has also been given to the Zweihander Union. Under the overseeing of Chief Engineer Brachium Alyan, we will begin to test this weapon and produce others like it!"

Ben smiled, looking at Brachium, who stood at the first row, his team of engineers behind him. "May the Zweihander Union prosper!"

Chris walked out onto the deck off of his corvette, dress uniform almost instantly becoming wet as the rain poured down onto the platform. Why. Why did every meeting have to have rain. He gestured to the soldiers and the biotechnician with the triple sealed crate that contained a carbonite encased sample of the virus, and they began to bring it out.

He walked with the admiral and the chief engineer towards the interior of the building, his small retinue following. "While this isn't exactly my area of expertise, I hope we can make some progress over the course of this meeting."

The rain had stopped, "That is all for today, dismissed!" The chief engineers, technicians and researchers called out their individual units and returning back to their duties. Ben turned behind him to the crate of the samples. "Yes Commander, progress is the goal." They started to walk back inside the citadel. After a few minutes, they arrived at the main control room. In the testing room were rats. Ben looked to Brachium and nodded, "Begin the experiment." There would be several test trials, each one having a subject more complex than the last, until inevitably...a proper organic was tested.

"We're going to start with a simulation of a low level of contamination from a high altitude detonation." said the corps commander. A slightly grey fog started to seep into the containment chamber, building up before being shut off. The rats began to vomit and stumble around, almost completely incapacitated. A technician pressed another button that played a recording of the sound of a predator, along with vibrating the containment chamber floor. The rats stumbled away from the sound, still heaving.
"As you can see, the riot control and street clearing applications pose little risk to permanent harm for organics. They'll be fine within one or two days." the tech pressed another button and the sounds and vibrations stopped, "If you will, the next chamber and round of... demonstration." he gestured to the next viewing area.

"Now, here's a simulation of a low altitude detonation. The PPM is signifigantly higher and so is the viral load." The tech pressed multiple inputs on a control panel, and the new rats began to scurry about as the grey grew thicker in the chamber. Just as before the rats began to vomit and shake uncontrollably, and a small amount of blood was now present on the chamber floor.
"This height is when things start to get messier. The symptoms are much more severe, and include some bleeding from the mucus membranes in the eyes, nose, and mouth. It still isn't lethal for most organisms, but old or immunocompromised individuals may die." as if to emphasize that point one of the rats stopped moving.
"This detonation setting isn't quite as safe as the others, but against ill equipped irregulars or individuals without filters or air supplies it is very useful."

Chris moved to the next chamber, and the techs readied it for the third demonstration.
