Though Yora had been a member of the New Republic's Senate for a short time, she had already established a name for herself in the Senate. Known as a member of sharp wit and keen intelligence, some of her colleagues had already expressed their private satisfaction with her thoughts and ideas. To that end, the Senator from Kuat had endeavored to gain a better understanding of the political climate of the Senate, to further ingratiate herself into the minds of its membership as well as secure her own position among her adopted constituents.

With the recent additions to the fledgling Republic, such as Rendili, and campaigns to liberate or negotiate with additional planets like Corellia or Cambria, there was a subject that needed addressing. An alliance between member worlds was all well and good, but if the New Republic was to actually be a government, it would have to start stepping into the duties that a government performed. In particular, what the New Republic needed most at this moment of expansion was a look inward to the economies of its worlds.

Fighting and upheaval had sent the worlds of the inner regions into turmoil. These were once the centers of commerce and wealth, but now their coffers were spent, their economies depressed. Even the New Republic fleets were struggling, their showings at Commenor and Corellia just a glimmer of their potential power, with little funding in sight to raise more. And though governments could often raise funds for such projects through trusts and bonds, the New Republic's economy was weak and its financial forecast dim.

Perhaps that would change today.

Clearing her throat, the Falleen Senator stood before the assemblage, one already larger than the body that had met mere weeks before. The addition of new Senators, still eager to prove themselves to their worlds, was a factor she was counting on to both impress and progress. Passing this bill would not only do much to solidify the New Republic's economy, but also her own worth to it, a fact she was not unaware of. Unabated, Yora addressed the Senate to present her first measure to the body, a tepid curiosity hovering just below the surface, waiting to take the pulse of the crowd after her speech.

"Members of the Senate, honored colleagues, and Mr. Vice Chancellor, I come before you today to discuss a matter dear to all our hearts. I speak, of course, of credits."

She paused, knowing that the Senate would react as politicians did. None of them had happened upon their decorated seats without help from money, whether it be their own or someone else's, and none of them, no matter how much they detested it, could avoid its influence. Credits makes the galaxy turn, or so the phrase went, and doubly so within the Senate's elaborately adorned halls. "Specifically, I speak today of our economy. Our worlds have suffered greatly under devastation wrought by the Sith, or Imperials in whatever name they adopted, our people taxed and resources exported. Now the galactic powerhouses reside among the galactic fringes, far from the worlds that once built, once fueled, once fed a galaxy expanding to those fringes. It is time to restore the rightful balance among the galaxy, and return the worlds of the New Republic, present and future, to their rightful place as leaders of commerce, industry and trade."

"This will not be an easy task. We must strengthen our economy and rebuild what was lost, but our Republic is not wealthy. We do not have the resources of the Sith Empire or the First Order to stimulate the growth of something new by sheer force of credits alone. Instead, we must look to our strengths, each other, and the trillions of denizens who call our worlds home. These are a market that the galaxy cannot ignore, not even those who pretend their loyalties lie with the tyrannies in the Outer Rim. This not only gives us the power to take actions for the furthering of our own interests, but a mandate to use it to defend and foster the New Republic's economy."

"In order to do this, I propose the following bill to this body."

With that, Yora gestured to the Vice Chancellor, who ran through the particulars and opened the floor to debate. She tucked her dark robes beneath her as she sat down, waiting to see what her colleagues would say or do to this new proposal.

-- Tobias stood from his position, he had received the message from the chancellor. Tapping his staff on the ground twice, he waited for the attention of the Senators attention. "The Floor recognized the Chancellor of the New Republic who wishes to speak on behalf of the People Elected Majority."

-- The Chancellor stood and placed his hands on the edge of the railing before him, leaning on it to scan those in the chambers. "Senators and fellow cabinet members, the creation of this new Bill will not only strengthen the Economic running of our corporation and capitalistic views for the near future, this will strengthen our domestic growth in all sectors," He paused, "However, we can not turn a blind eye to the possibility of these companies growing larger then the government, as such I support senator Hork in their views, I propose a stronger amendment of creation of Small Business Loans in hopes of countering the strength of our corporations, help build small companies become independent and create a base of competition for our capitalist nature to truly thrive."

The Vice Chancellor stood, "The floor seems to be completed with the debate of this proposal, the voting will now commence and we will break for the time being to speak privately, the council chamber will return to close voting in three hours, the chamber will adjourn for a small break."

Harley Fenstermacher

remeber it's not personal, just buiness
Harley had been a little late to this session having spent the last few day on private business on Naboo along with his current company, with the Sith pulling out of commoner the trade route were once again open. Such meant that shipping between his HQ on Narr Hasska and the current world he was the senator of could reopen to full capacity. No sooner had such trouble been cleared up before this new bill vote was announced, causing a little bit of a hate on the Echani's side of things, giving the man a small headache upon arriving on the scene. As such he was more then happy to let the other senators talk first before taking his own stand.

For the most part he would agree with the current proposed changes to the entire system, it appeared as though that such a proposal would benefit his company so much more. With dealings in the outerim and other places HCLI had access to many things that other companies inside the NR did not have, combine this with the industrial power of Ballmora and it would not take long for his company to rise to the top of the charts. As the old saying went 'don't look a gift horse in the mouth', if the senators wanted to give his company an unintentional boots so be it, as of now he'd just mingle, talk and then vote yes in the coming hour.

With a calm silence Harley reached over pressing the 'yes' vote, the business man leaning back in his seat with a coy smile. No doubt the bill would pass easily, such would make for a nice announcement back at the office. Now all he had to do was sit back and watch as the local markets snatch up his civilian products due to their more affordable prices compared to anything imported. 'The products of a foolish new senator looking to make a name for themselves, only to make one of their fellows that much more powerful', clearly they had not done their research into the Republic at a large and that suited him just fine.

Ella had listened to the proposal made by Sankt Yora, representative of Kuat during proceedings such as this. It was as she had suspected would happen. It was a logical move on the part of the New Republic. To stimulate the depressed economies of worlds such as Humbarine the Senate would begin the process by first electing a committee to oversee the economic revival of the entire Republic. This was also how bureaucracy would begin to make it's roots in the New Republic. In order to gain political favour there would be deals made in secret that would affect the politics, and it would stem from the opportunities that would be made through the passage of this bill. Those who sat on the committee would have influence and power over politics now. It was likewise for those who would sit on the committee that had been voted on some weeks prior for the oversight of military matters.

It was the weakness of democracy. Parasites (much like herself) would settle into the sphere of influence, using what they could in order to change and shape politics as they went on. The economical issues that each of the worlds represented in this chamber would face would determine the political discourse for many years to come. Bills would be rugged down into the murky and often convoluted messes wrought by the interests of parties that would often have little in common. As Ella sat there, considering the future events that were to come, she turned her gaze to Sankt Yora and nodded in approval. Did the Senator from Kuat see what she had foreseen? Was this her gamble to get a hand on things first before the inevitable happened and they begun without her?

With the recent entrance of Rendili into the mix Ella suspect the ulterior motives of Yora. It was known throughout the galaxy that Rendili had the capabilities to manufacture and lead in certain industries. Both they and Kuat had pioneered the development of technology ranging from the internal systems that encompassed the great ships, ranging from mere transports to the mega Star Destroyers, and both were also capable of their manufacture and distribution in the Republic. That was why such efforts had been made in order to bring Rendili into the fold. Not just because they were historically members to the Old Republic, but also because of the important part Rendili could play in future events. The New Republic required a navy to protect itself from outside threats, and so it's shipyards would be important in that respect.

To the idealists that had brought Rendili into the New Republic it all made perfect sense, but to the strategists, to the politicians, and to the capitalists came the realistic struggles. On the surface the Republic had two great worlds that could be harnessed for their shipyards, but beneath it all they were actual rivals who would compete with each other economically for the years to come. When the military tribunal turned to either world to construct their naval assets, whom would they choose? The political discourse would begin, and through it all, bureaucrats would capitalize.

Bureaucrats like herself. Standing to her feet, Ella spoke into the intercom when it became her turn to speak on the proposed bill.

"It was only a matter of time until this government begun the process of rebuilding from what has happened in the past. The creation of a committee to deliver oversight over the depressed and ailing economies of the New Republic makes sense. Humbarine supports the bill that Senator Yora had delivered on behalf of Kuat and the New Republic. We are pleased to see that this great issue had been brought up into the political discourse, and that what needs to be done has started today with the proposal of this bill."

"It only makes sense then that the woman who first brought this issue to light in this young and fledgling government head the committee. I propose to my fellow Senators that Sankt Yora of Kuat be allowed the powers to guide the necessary work to rebuilding all our ailing economies by heading this committee should this bill be passed today. It only makes sense to us given the background of the Senator and the part that Kuat has to play in the New Republic. Let us allow the commencement of rebuilding the Republic by allowing Kuat once again to become the driving force of our economical revival as the heads of industry and commerce as they once used to be."

Lowering herself down into her seat Ella delivered her vote for the proposed bill. With Humbarine on board with the bills passage and the creation of the committee it was clear to the rest of the New Republic that they were also in full support of Sankt Yora heading it all up. Ella quietly hopped she had gained a political ally today.

Alexandra Feanor

The Lady in Silver/Grey Historian
Alexandra worked on a data pad, operating under illusion and disguise to ensure she didn’t raise brows or tip off those in the chambers. She was here as Emilia, a young girl with ashen hair from Carida, eyes that were emerald in color and skin tanned.she could not look more different and this illusion would be hard to notice and see through, especially for those that are not actively searching for such.

Why was she doing this though? In truth, almost no one knew about this and it was more of a personal mission she had undertaken, rather than one where she had been tasked out to help and advise. Recently there had been an assault on a green Jedi enclave, one that had brought the sight of the Green Jedi onto the republic senate because for a certain senator’s credentials being used.

That Senator was her friend Ella Nova, a woman Alexandra had most contact with. In truth, she worried that her friend might have fallen, but a bit of her trusted her friend and this was someone framing her. After all, she was a former Jedi and it would work to credit the Sith to cause such a rift. If this did happen though, Alexandra would prove Ella’s innocence and find the Sabotuer.

But that fear her friend had fallen was there. After seeing Taeli return to the Sith and the Jedi of the Galactic Alliance splinter, there was that nagging feeling that Ella had fallen with the others. If that had happened, then Blood May have to stain her hands once more, as it was Alexandra’s failure in not seeing the change in her friend.
