OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Role: Scampi is a rescue animal salvaged from Wayland, and typically acts as a pet belonging to the Nobles.
  • Permissions: n/a

PHYSICAL & BIOLOGICAL INFORMATION
  • Species: Porg.
  • Gender: Male.
  • Age: Four months.
  • Height: 0'10.2" ft / 26 cm
  • Homeworld: Wayland.
  • Designation: Non-sentient.
  • Force Sensitivity: n/a
  • Appearance: Scampi is a young, diminutive seabird with a beakless mouth and webbed feet. Like all porgs, he sports brown plumage with a white belly, and due to his species' sexual dimorphism, has orange markings around two large, bulging brown eyes. Scampi's feathers are incredibly soft, puffing out when the bird is in distress, making him appear even plumper than usual, and as such he often feels rather fluffy to stroke and pet. The most notable features on the porg's body include wayward brown spots dotting his belly as well as a marking reminiscent of a bow tie along the bird's chest, in addition to two tufts of messy feathers atop his head.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Scampi.
  • Loyalties: The Noble family.
  • Notable Possessions: n/a
  • Training: Currently, Scampi has very little training; something that BB-610 intends on rectifying. Having said that, Scampi isn't too wild to begin with, barring a handful of shenanigans and furniture ripping that comes natural to a growing porg's curious instincts.

STRENGTHS
  • Special Eyes - As with most birds, porgs boast very good eyesight, as it allows them to easily spot the swimming fish they prey on before diving into the water and snatching them up. This makes Scampi incredibly attentive, able to detect the smallest of intruders.
    • Night Vision - Scampi's eyes work just as well in the dark, making him a reliable lookout during night time and other darkened environments.
    • Bird's Eye View - Given his ability to fly, Scampi can easily oversee the landscape and, with the correct amount of training, can help quickly identify peoples and points of interest much faster than those on foot without the aid of the Force or technology.
  • Carrier Pigeon - In the event of commlinks being confiscated, destroyed, or scrambled, Scampi can serve as a means to deliver messages and small possessions between people.
WEAKNESSES
  • Troublemaker - Scampi is a rather bold little thing, and won't hesitate to defend himself and his 'territory' if he feels threatened. For smaller creatures, this can work as a deterrent, but for bigger beasts and especially sentients, Scampi's simply biting off more than he can chew.
    • Stowaway - Ever the curious scamp, it isn't uncommon for the porg to find himself accidentally tagging along on missions by sneaking into bags and starships. While Scampi's far too reckless to care, it nonetheless provides a liability for his handlers.
  • Pesky Fly - Being nothing more than a tiny bird, Scampi offers little in the damage department. Without a beak or talons, Scampi relies entirely on the set of tiny, sharp teeth within his small mouth to bite and scratch with. As such, for bigger opponents, Scampi is less of a threat and more of an annoyance.
    • Pint-Sized - In the event of capture, there's very little Scampi do to overpower any adversaries, as his small stature makes him incredibly weak, and while that may make him a harder target to hit from a distance, a single shot or strike is all it takes to gravely wound him, if not kill him entirely.

PERSONALITY

Living up to his name, Scampi is a reckless little scamp that displays a shocking amount of boldness for someone his size, having what is essentially the avian equivalent of little dog syndrome, a stark contrast to the skittish astromech serving as his caretaker. While in no way fearless, Scampi's first impressions on most people are that he could absolutely destroy them, regardless of comparative height, skill, or intelligence, and only ever backs down once the other's dominance has been established. The porg is incredibly loud, warbling and cawing frequently, and when feeling threatened, will puff his feathers out to make himself look bigger as well as spreading his wings.

Being only a few months old, Scampi is prone to nibble and chew anything and everything, including furniture, weapons, hair, and people. Like most porgs, he is obsessed with shiny objects, and loves to collect as many as he can to hoard and protect them. Intellect-wise, Scampi is most certainly a non-sentient, as he doesn't quite yet understand that his reflection isn't a separate entity, nor is he particularly hard to trick. Having said that, he displays a lot of peculiar senses in many regards, including object permanence and the knowledge to use simple tools such as sticks and twigs in order to scratch himself.

While surprisingly brash and daring, Scampi also has a much softer side to him, which he eagerly displays to the family he lives with. He very happily sits on shoulders, coos affectionately when brushed and stroked, and is incredibly playful in many harmless, child-like ways. Including them as his territory, Scampi is fiercely protective of his handlers, and is instinctually mindful of young ones, such as Valery's five-year old daughter Vera. The porg is incredibly cuddly, and rather attentive when it comes to picking up speech patterns, associating words with actions and attempting to repeat them in rather parrot-esque fashion.

BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in captivity by an avian breeder within a village on the planet of Wayland after his parents had been smuggled, Scampi has been surrounded by people his entire life, which may explain his fearlessness in regards to approaching those around him. While never trained, he was domesticated decently, though his life in a cage stunted much growth, leading to an incredibly curious bird. One day, an assassin droid going by the name of Blackout Blackout ravaged the village in a devastating assault on the locals. Nobody was spared, and as the droid entered another residence in search of blood to spill, he found a Psadan male and numerous caged birds. Outgunned, the man was murdered, and with a bitter hatred for all organic life, Blackout proceeded to kill every bird in the room.

Through the struggle between droid and Psadan, the room was partially destroyed, with broken debris stumbling atop a young porg's cage. A silver lining, as the machine had missed the bird inside, and as such, Scampi remained the sole survivor of not just that house, but the entire village as Blackout slaughtered everybody in hopes of luring wayward heroes to add to his kill count and steal their droids over the following days. Having taken the bait, Jedi Master Valery Noble Valery Noble and her droid BB-610 BB-610 ventured to the planet after hearing of missing peoples reports. Investigating the ransacked houses, the duo stumbled upon the caged porg, and after releasing the terrified creature, Scampi quickly stuck with them, having instinctively depended on the aid of others his entire life.

Emerging from the house in search of more answers, the porg inadvertently led them to the assassin droid's base after he had seen the machine march off through a hidden pathway, leading them down a road to an abandoned facility. After an ensuing battle with the murderous automaton, Valery and BB-610 freed the droids that had been stolen from their now dead Masters, and as the duo ventured back to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant to report their findings and return with a shuttle for them, their new porg friend tagged along, now with no where to go.

Now, the porg has been given a home in the Nobles' apartment, given the nickname 'Scampi' by BB-610, and is happier than he's ever been.
