- Stealth Combat: Serving as the primary suit for the Shades' stealth operations, the SC-2b Meldic operates best outside of heavy combat and against very small groups of enemies. Often seeing engagements against no more than half-a-dozen at any given time, the Meldic is capable of defending its wearers against stray and direct blasts. However, its true strength is its gifting of enhanced agility and dexterity in combat, allowing its wearers to perform "inhuman" acrobatics to gain advantages over their foes. The additions of state-of-the-art countermeasures seen in the scramblers further improve the stealth capabilities of the Meldic.
- Atmospheric Defense: While weak towards landscape-based environmental hazards, the integrated rebreather allows the wearers of the Meldic to survive and operate at peak proficiency in most atmospheres (toxic, sulfuric, etc) - artificial or otherwise. It also holds some defense against extreme weather, but no direct advantages either.
- EMP/ION Defense: Thanks to the reinforced duraplast plating of the armor set, wearers will find themselves able to survive EMPs and ION weapons much longer than the other SC-2 armors.
- Damage Vulnerabilities: As with most armors in the galaxy, the Meldic is vulnerable to the universally dangerous Lightsabers. Unlike the other armor sets of its kind, the Meldic lacks proper defenses against physical environmental hazards, often forcing those wearing the armor to utilize other forms of protection, such as shield generators and hand-held equipment.
- Lack of Physical Advantages: While capable of defending against stray and some direct blasts, the SC-2b Meldic is incapable of protecting its wearers from sustained blasts like its more physical counterparts. Large engagements, heavy firefights, and similar types of combat only serve to put the Meldic wearers at great risk and thus force them to retreat or die.
With the creation of the Shades of Stygan during the onset of the Warlords of the Sith's crusade upon Malachor V, Kascalion required an initial armor set for these elite warriors that could serve them dutifully until later models could be created - of which three more have been. Utilizing a basic, rushed construction out of duraplast and durasteel layered over a leather underarmor and a mesh underlay, the Devil found that the Darkclad was much too simplistic for the elite soldiers under his command.
Thus came the first addition to the SC-2 series. Befitting those with a knack for the art of stealth, the SC-2b is the perfect go-to as it offers enhancements to their already present agility and abilities to roam the galaxy unseen and unheard. Similar to the Darkclad, the SC-2b Meldic's aesthetics are strange and perhaps worrying to a first-time viewer. It does not follow many modern forms of style and appears to be much more sadistic and savage than the wearers themselves, although its functionality is on-par with armor classes of comparable purpose.
