ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Strengths:
  • The Saturn-type fits an armament frequency modulator, allowing it to modulate its energy weapons - including its heavy beam cannons - to the same frequency as an enemy's shields, in effect allowing them to penetrate shields with no issue.
Weaknesses:
  • The Saturn is slow and unmaneuverable. As well, against ships it has not modulated against, it lacks in firepower compared to the Ablution.
  • The D-Variant Saturn-type lacks shock-jumping capabilities.
  • All Saturn-type Battleships have a weaker hull and shields than the ship they were based off of.
Description: The Saturn-type Battleship is an attempt to integrate the technology used in the prototype Saturn on a wider scale. Saturn-type ships are a variant of the old Pluton-class design, featuring the armament frequency modulator technology first tested on the Rampart-class Assault Monitor Lancet and later refined for used on the Saturn. Saturn-type ships are currently in use by Sith R&D, with modest deployment to front-line fleets.

The D-variant is designed for defensive use. It possesses more durability than the O-variant, featuring neutronium reinforcement of the frame and hull plating, but has weaker beam weaponry and lacks shock-jump capabilities. D-variant Saturns have seen use in offensive roles due to the lack of O-variant Saturns, but are intended for defensive operations with support from local defense platforms and installations within a system.
