STRENGTHS

• Long-Range Communication: This device has the ability to communicate at vast distances (through subspace) at the expense of a few drawbacks stipulated in the " Weaknesses " .
• Clandestine: When worn on the ear-lobe this device appears like an earring making it difficult for a third party to determine what it actually is.
• Holocomm: A user can create a holographic image of themselves (when transmitting and communicating with others) at the expense of a drawback stipulated in the " Weaknesses ".
• Memory Bank: This device contains a list of contacts that it can use to communicate with. The interface for these contacts can appear to the user like a holographic list read in Aurebesh.

WEAKNESSES

• Tiny: This device is so small that it can break easily in a myriad of situations. Crushed, shots, an accidental dropping-- one mistake and this technology is toast requiring a replacement or repair.
• Satellite: As a small communications device this technology requires the assistance of a satellite for the purposes of transmitting to other people. Without this then it's ability to broadcast is small and the transmission itself would be barely comprehensible.
• Irritant: Designed to be worn at the ear by a Human being this device will be an irritant that will make the ear-lobe itchy, blotchy (after long periods of exposure), and even cause bleeding.
• Subspace Tracking: If the signal of this device is picked up by a third party then it is technically possible to trace the broadcast back to it's source or to where it is transmitting to.
• The Human Touch: When this technology was designed by Santhe Corporation it was specifically built for a Human being. Therefore any other type of Humanoid (or an Alien) wouldn't be able to use this device as it is likely to break or it cannot be used in it's intended way.
• Magnets: If the device comes into contact with a magnetic field then it will be ripped off whether the user intends to or not.

DESCRIPTION

The SANTHE-1 ' Vigilance ' "Transmitter" was originally designed by the deceased Liann industrialist (and former CEO of the Santhe Corporation) Eirys Santhe after she reopened the company in 902 ABY. It's design was then stolen by the N&Z Umbrella Corporation (and became circulated into it's vast catalogue of technology) who would become it's primary manufacturer and distributor to Imperial organisations or characters.

This device is a clandestine communications transmitter and receiver capable of sending long distance transmissions (through subspace) to other third parties for the purposes of communicating with them. While these transmissions are encrypted (and are therefore supposed to not be discovered) it is theoretically possible that someone else could pick up the transmission and use it to listen into what is being transmitted. They could also trace the transmission back to it's source or to where it is being transmitted to.

It requires a satellite to communicate via long distances. Therefore a character using this technology would have to have one set-up in close vicinity in order to use the device effectively. The transmissions bounced by a satellite could be a radio broadcast (subspace transceiver) or through holocomm. In the case of the latter the resolution of the user is heavily pixelated and filled with static as the device itself is small unlike larger technology which can display a clearer picture. Some would describe the holograms that this device produces as "eerie" and "haunting" to look at or interact with.

The purpose of the Vigilance is to give the user a clandestine means of communicating to other third parties through subspace. It is worn by the ear which can become a irritant to the user if worn for long periods of time. As it looks like an earring (and therefore not out of place to most others) the device can be worn discreetly with the intention of not being found or discovered by another with hostile intentions.
