ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Medical Ops — The Samaritan-class is a fully-fledged medical cruiser capable of providing a comprehensive services and care.
  • Durability — The multi-layered armor plating and deflector shields ensure that the Samaritan-class can safely without some direct enemy fire, which can buy this medical cruiser some time to escape.
  • Carrier — The Samaritan-class has multiple hangar bays which allows this medical cruiser to rapidly deploy its compliment of support ships and starfighters.
  • Slave-Rigged — The Samaritan-class has a slave circuit system installed which saves a significant amount of labor that would otherwise be necessary to run a capital ship of this size.
WEAKNESSES
  • Uneven FirepowerDue to increasing disrespect for war conventions, the Samaritan-class was equipped with some weapon systems to protect the patients onboard. During the process of refitting the Venator-class as a medical cruiser, the engineer team retained the heavy-hitting turbolasers on the dorsal section of the ship, and the anti-starfighter weapon emplacements on the broadside. However, this means the ship can only counter enemy capital ships from above and enemy starfighters from the sides.
  • Slave Rigged — Because the Samaritan-class depends on a slave circuit to operate an electrical disturbance caused by an electromagnetic pulse could have devastating consequences on this medical cruiser. Another weakness that emerges from the slave circuit is the threat of a slicer taking advantage of the widespread automation of systems to take control of large parts of the ship.
  • Hangar Bays — When the Samaritan-class launches shuttles, the titanium blast doors are wide open, and the only thing separating the hangar from the vacuum of space are magnetic shields. These magnetic shields allow physical objects like shuttles and other support craft to leave the hangar bay, but on the flipside, can also let concussion strikes in once the deflector shields are down.
Speed — The Samaritan-class was equipped with engines that are adequate enough to move it forward but weren’t designed for fast get aways.
  • Maneuverability — The Samaritan-class is unable to swerve away from fast moving objects, like an asteroid, or a suicidal run.
  • Starfighters — There is a lack of weapon emplacements on the ventral and dorsal sections of this ship, which makes it difficult for the Samaritan-class to fend off starfighter harassment or even worst - bomber runs.
  • Exposed Rear — The engines of the Samaritan-class are exposed, and there's no weapon emplacements to discourage enemy harassment on this section of the ship.
DESCRIPTION

Following the collapse of the Core Imperial Confederation, many of their former Venator-class attack cruisers had been slated to be scrapped. Seeing an opportunity, the leadership at the Federal Cooperative would buy up the majority of the attack cruisers and relocate them to their deep space shipyards. There they would begin the process of refitting them for a new role.

Concordia—a humanitarian relief organization—was beginning to establish itself as the most influential power in its own right in the entire Slice region. Sensing an opportunity to tap a new market, the Federal Cooperative would direct their engineer teams to convert the assault cruisers they had purchased into state-of-the-art medical cruisers. They wanted these ships to be capable of providing emergency, on-site care, and to serve as the vanguard of disaster relief missions.

With that in mind, the engineer teams went to work in early 858 ABY.

Firstly, the engineers would partition half the hangar interior off. They would convert the partitioned half into an additional three thousand rooms, increasing the total number from 9,000 to 12,000 beds. In addition, they would install 60 fully-equipped operations rooms along with 540 rooms dedicated to intensive care.

The engineers would take advantage of the fact that the Venator-class had served as a carrier. Even with the decreased capacity from the partition, the ship still retained its four primary hangar bays, which would allow the medical cruiser to handle multiple patient transfers to and from the ship through a complement of loadlifters, shuttles, and spaceport embarkings and disembarkings.

The medical cruiser, which would be officially named the Samaritan-class in 959 ABY, would be designed to be staffed by 4,800 medical and communication personnel. The latter personnel would manage the hangar bays, which could handle multiple arrivals and departures. The portside hangars could receive incoming patients, while the starboard transfers patients out, while the ventral receives logistics (Foodstuffs, cleaning materials, medical supplies, etc.), while the bow hangar bay could be reserved for emergencies.

The Federal Cooperative wanted a state-of-a-art medical cruiser, so in addition to the standard range of services, including surgical, optical, dental, angiography, X-ray, full laboratory and pharmancy, the engineer team would also include rejuvenation tanks, antidote synthesizers, breathing regulators, delta wave inducers, electromyoclonic broadcasters, flexypoly suits, and even facial transformation programs for reconstructive surgery. Along with all these life-saving features, the engineers would also install 50 casualty receiving stations.

The Federal Cooperative would begin launching the Samaritan-class in mid-860 ABY to serve in relief fleets throughout the Galaxy.

So another beautiful submission! By my count though, the ship is one (1) rating underpowered. Did you want to increase one (1) rating to make it balanced or leave it as it? Please let me know.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to tag me here and I will do my best to help. Thanks!
