Question Sage/Mystic

Emberlene's Daughter, The Jedi Generalist
Novac Lyrikal Novac Lyrikal depends on how close to the limited detail there is for them. I would say for mystics/sages both share a deeper knowledge and exploration of the force and some parts of it be it prophecy, healing or confusion. Having more of a support that weaves among their fellow jedi and can offer insight or knows when to say the right thing to reinforce and aid their mental state. A fun idea for one who works with their fellow jedi and isn't a strict warrior.

How would someone rp a sage or mystic like character? I've tried looking some stuff up but haven't found much of anything

I would personally write them as I do with Taiia, as having deep knowledge of the force. In her case, she is well-versed in the concepts of the cosmic and living force. Her core principle is much like the Je'daii: balance must be maintained. As Matsu said as well, probably more of a support role. Battle meditation and the like in actual combat.

I think a big part of it is to have some level of mystery or obscurity to them as well, perhaps even something that the character themselves might not be fully aware or knowledgable of. A hidden power or sense that sets them apart from those around them, or some relic or artifact that they become the caretaker of and have a connection to that no one else does or fully understands.

Even if they aren't a master level Force User or someone gifted with knowledge from beyond the Fourth Wall, having a bit of vague and unexplained nature to them to me is a bit of a cornerstone of such a character.

that seems to cover the light side and conventual role for the dark side, I would Sidious/ Palpatine type more marination but willing to get the hand dirty in fight if they have to, I would also throw this in with the deep understanding or connection to force, should come unique abilities for support and combat. enhance precognition can several possible outcomes, stronger and longer distance for telekinesis etc..

To me a sage is someone whom is knowledgeable and more willing to help other beings. I think more of a controlled power as far as their magic is concerned if they even have any. Sages are possibly more wise though it's not impossible that a mystic also be so.

Zeffonians are usually listed as a sage culture though it's possible they could have been more of a mystic culture by my definition.

On the other hand, a mystic is more of a selt-taught, "magic through discovery" or maybe even an external source sush as an item more than it's their own, type that are not usually so nice. More of a raw and uncontrolled power is what they possess.

Voss are usually listed as mystics though I'd call them more of a sage culture than Zeffonians.

But how powerful they are is another matter entirely. And it's likely you could find either of them on either side of the force if we view the force as a dichotomy which could actually be an interesting topic for another conversation.

Mindwalkers create an unusual situation and a hard subject to quantify due to the "unreal" nature of their skill but its direct connection to what most consider "real nature" because in that "alternate reality" is where Luke has an encounter with Abeloth in legends.

I'd say that a mystic would probably generally be more powerful due to the uncontrollable and raw nature of their power but also at times more useless unless they gain better command over their power.
