roleplaying is looking quite difficult based on how in depth others go, ive not been great at that aspect, ive been doing this since about 2017 but...

Honestly, the best advice I can give you is to not hold yourself to the perceived 'level' of other writers.

Your writing should be enjoyable and that means you write what you want to write, even if it's just 100 word posts.

If you ever want to thread or seek advice to improve your writing or just someone to rp with, I would be more than happy to assist you.

just feeling a tad overwhelmed on the effort put into the roleplays here, it seems beyond my capabilties in many ways
Honestly I would say alot of the effort is superfical or just looks like alot of effort due to fancy div templates. I suggest starting with a paragarph a post and slowly increasing it from there plus most people enjoy the simpler posts because they arn't a pain to read or respond to.

Most people started with basic posts. One thing that helped me was looking at the really old posts of vetern writers

We are our own worst critics. I've been on this forum for nearly three years and I still believe that my writing is sub-par compared to everyone else due to the lack of plots moving forward. I think that what it really boils down to is finding reliable writing partners that can spare you their time.

The Brightest Star
The RP is just pure pleasure, enjoy your character, story, and have fun ! No pressure, no plan, just you and your writing ~

A good advice i can give is to join a faction who can help you to keep the rythm and dont stay alone.

Echoing much of above, you determine your own win conditions when it comes to quality, size, look, etc. of your posts. Like all hobbies, we all start (or in your case, start in a new setting) somewhere and we all have places to grow. It, and the connections we make while doing so, are what makes this hobby worth pursuing.

Should you need any assistance or encouragement, please let me know! Above all else, remember we're all here doing this on purpose for fun.

Trust me, I understand the feeling. Even as someone with 18 years writing on various sites, and 10 on here, there are many moments I still feel the same.

Echoing others, it really is about overcoming that mental block. For me, music seems to help distract me from the length of the post and focus solely on what I am writing. Also, maybe the really big threads aren't your jam. Cool, You can set up Invite only or Private threads for small groups to help get your bearings. In additin don't feel beholden to join a major faction out of the gate, or at all if you don't want to. Take your time, get an idea of what works for you and where you feel comfortable writing.

From one overanalyzer to another, have fun, relax, and realize the community here is for the most part pretty chill and helpful. You'll have fun when you get through those internal blocks. I know it isn't easy, but find what works for you, and enjoy the writing you do. You'll be surprised who else does as well.
