Vogjon stood on the large balcony that protruded from the side of his quarters in the Royal Palace, overlooking the city below. A warm wind carrying the fragrance of salt, the smell of the sea, blew in front the extensive harbour of the capital city of the Western Islands, which was just visible across the seemingly endless city of Calman. One of the servants had been standing impatiently behind him for several minutes now, but he could wait. Most likely he was just calling him to another royal gathering, or giving another task given by the King. The crown prince of the Western Islands continued to stare over the city, watching merchants gather around the town center to peddle their goods. There seemed to be a strangely high amount of guards about the city today, one stationed at every corner, and six more in the town center alone. Not only that, but colorful flags and streamers were being hung off the edges of roofs all over the city. Is there a festival I wasn't told of? No, not possible... I would have been informed. The servant behind Vogjon abruptly cleared his throat, snapping the prince out of his thoughts. He turned to the short balding servant with a scowl, wondering what he could possibly want, now...
"The Ki-" The servant began as Vogjon raised his hand, cutting him off, and turned back to the balcony. The impatient servant frowned, and began to speak again, before he was interupted a second time. "I have not given you permission to speak yet, Heggius." The servant's face tinted red, but he stayed quiet. A small squabble began out in the town center, a man was throwing loaves of bread at one of the merchants, as he chased him around the massive statue of King Egjon that marked town center. A moment later, a pair of royal guards dressed in red and gold dashed from their posts, raising their cudgels high above their heads in warning. The peasant turned his rampage on the two guards, until they began to beat the old man in to submission with their curved cudgels. The Prince smiled as he watched a pair of stun-shackles be clamped on to the peasant's wrist, as he was dragged away. He slowly turned towards the servant behind him after the spectacle was over. "Speak" Heggius, on the verge of screaming, replied. "King Ebjon, the Great, demands your precense in the throne chambers, immidiettly, Your Highness" The servant made sure to add sarcasm to the last words, before he stomped off to continue his duties. The Prince sighed again, before making his way to the lower halls.
Incompetence. Sheer incompetence.
