SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Rugged and Reliable: The BR-1, much like every other product produced by Hekler'Kok Defense Industries, is a extremely rugged and reliable rifle, being able to be thrown around, buried in mud or dirt or sand and still function just as well as as it does straight off of the factory floor.
WEAKNESSES
  • Semi-Auto Only: In an effort both to converse ammunition and put a premium on rifle marksmanship the Rimward Trade League requested that the BR-1 being made to fire in a semi-automatic manner only, the downside being that it can't provide bursts of automatic fire if needed.
DESCRIPTION
For a long time Noah and the Hekler'Kok marketing and sales teams having been trying to negotiate a contract with the multi-planet government but could not penetrate the market of much larger weapons manufacturers. They received their big break however when they received a contract from the Rimward Trade League to produced a standard issue blaster rifle for their Defense Forces.

Like with any other weapon being developed by Hekler'Kok the design team began first by deciding what type of weapon they would be making, for this one it was easy as it was supposed to be a simple semi-auto blaster rifle. They took inspiration for the rifle from an unused prototype of the A-series of blaster rifles produced by BlasTech Industries during the pre-Imperial, Imperial and Post-Imperial era's.

With the design of the rifle sketched, blueprinted and approved the design team next began work on choosing the materials they would use in the construction of the rifle. For almost all of the metallic construction of the rifle the team chose Hekler'Kok's trademark Titanium-Alusteel Alloy for its light yet sturdy properties. The barrel was plated in a Dallorian-Chromium Alloy to prevent overheating and erosion of the barrel respectively. The furniture, such as the grip, stock and handguard, were made of Plastoid for the same reason the metallic components were made of what they were made of. Lastly the entire exterior of the rifle was coated in Hekler'Kok's patented CeramiCoat was added to prevent external wearing.

For the last part in the process the design team began picking out the features they would implement to further enhance the rifle. A full set of ambidextrous controls allow the user to operate the rifle effectively no matter their dominant hand. a variable one to six times magnification target scope assists the user in hitting targets at range. A set of backup iron sights give the user a way of accurately firing the rifle is the scope is damaged. A vibration system in the grip warns the user when they have only ten shots left so they can be aware of the need to reload.

A specially designed cooling shroud around the rear of the barrel forces air through it whenever the rifle is fired helping to further prevent overheating. A textured grip and handguard allow the user to have a good hold on the rifle no matter the situation. A rubber recoil buttpad helps soften the blow of recoil when the rifle is fired making it more comfortable to shoot. An internal storage compartment in the rifles stock give storage space for the weapons provided repair kit, though theoretically it can be used to store anything that can fitted. A blaster repair kit is provided with each and every blaster to give the user a way of maintaining the blaster in the field. Lastly each rifle is also provided with a optional vibro-bayonet to turn the weapon into a makeshift melee weapon if the need arises.

With all elements of the rifles design put forth and thought out, the design team gave the schematics over to the production side who produced a test batch of one hundred rifles for lab and field testing. When these phases of testing were complete a few modifications were made to the rifle. The intake ports of the cooling shroud were reshaped and reposition for optimal cooling, the alloys of the metal were slightly adjusted to build better tolerances and the pattern of the grip and handguard texturing was changed to provide more surface area.

With these design changes finished and implemented the production team put the rifle into full serial production.
