BACKGROUND

As the Galaxy recovered from the 400 Year Darkness, a cacophony of ideals manifested themselves as nations. Some were democratic. Some were even anarchist. In the case of Rience's homeworld, Bastion, an Imperial regime took root. From as far back as he can recall, his days and nights were spent under the Fel Imperial banner. In fact, from the moment he could speak, Imperial doctrine was fed to him daily - as was the case with all citizens. In terms of home life, Rience called a rather unremarkable duo his parents. His sire was a medical professional, his mother an Imperial Knight - and therefore, he was promptly enrolled in the Imperial Academy early on.

His years as a Cadet were spent as expected. He dreamed of one day donning the vermillion armor and keeping watch over the Imperium and his Emperor. Yet, that day would never come. For, just as he was entering his teenage years, the Fel Imperium began to collapse. The demise of the Emperor caused the nation to spiral out of control - loyal subjects turned on one another in the hopes of snatching up remnants of power. Rience and his parents picked up all they could and fled from the madness before it was too late.

Yet the collapse took its toll on the young Rience. With everything he hoped for shattered, his once radical view of the Empire and the Light became quite jaded. Perhaps it was a sign of his age, but the young man also began to act out as often as he could. When his parents settled on Coruscant, quietly assimilating into the society dominated by the One Sith, Rience was disgusted and started running with street gangs. He never got in enough trouble to warrant an arrest or incarceration, but there were plenty of close calls.

Upon coming of age, Rience was mandated to serve in the Sith-Imperial military. The state edict was far greater than any youthful rebellion, and thus the young man was placed under the supervision of one Darth Melig. Though his family had done quite well in covering their previous, Fel background, the Sith was able to deduce that Rience was not like the other recruits. He found the Force to be quite strong in the man - and, he found knowledge on how to wield it. In time, Melig took Rience under his wing and introduced him to the ways of the Dark Side. In a sense, the Darkness freed Rience from his youthful rebellions. The chains of his dissatisfaction were broken.

When the One Sith eventually fell to the sword, Darth Melig was extinguished along with it. Those who remained fled to the shadows with Rience being no different. He eventually took up residence on one of the worlds bordering the former, Sith-Imperial borders - a world that was plagued by internal corruption and regular civil conflict. Where some would be content to simply hide, ambition convinced Rience to seize the moment. He believed that he could bring the warring state to heel and that he could mold it in his image.

Entering the fray, however, saw a blast which buried Rience alive. However, a twisted fortune smiled upon the man that day. He escaped with his life, yes. But the thrashing his head endured saw his memory before that day rendered inert. When he was eventually fished from the remains, those he had planned to win to his side hailed him as Hashim. In their tongue, the word meant hero - yet he, lost and dazed, took it as his name. Rience survived for the next several years, floating about the stars until he settled within a new power in the Southern Systems.

His talent with the Force saw him enter the service of their local sect: the Knights Obsidian. Specifically, his entrance into the Knighthood saw him assigned to the direct supervision of one Elessar Talon. The man was a wise, if aging, Echani who held order to a high regard - but also the principles of honor and loyalty. Elessar would eventually rise to the highest office that the Knights had to offer - and as his apprentice, "Hashim" learned to serve all corners of the organization. It was pure happenstance that the burden of command fell upon his shoulders, for battle robbed Elessar of the ability to lead.

And thus, Rience ascended to Lord Commander in his stead. One of his first acts was an attempt to maintain the balance of alignments within the organization - as his mentor had before him. This led him into conflict with one [member="Alkor Centaris"], who, in a battle-driven fury, fell deeper to the Dark Side than ever before. Their clash was tumultous, to say the very least, but as the fury of the Darkness was unleashed upon him...Rience remembered. His ambitions. His desires. Loyalty. Honor. All returned and muddled together to form the current man. At present, Rience works to reconcile who he was...or rather, who he is, whilest shouldering the burden of leadership.
