Public Rescue on Takodana

Marcus's ship jumped out of hyperspace, reaching its destination of Takodana. The Vandal-class Corvette neared the planets orbit as preparations were made. The ship was bustling with activity as everyone was briefed. This was an uncomfortable situation for all of them, though an all too familiar one. Marcus sat in his quarters as he felt the slight rocking of the ship as it entered the orbit of the planet. With haste he put on his black menacing mask, and attached the rest of his equipment to his waist. Then, fastening his cloak to his shoulders, he ventured into the hallway of The Vigilance.

The ship and its crew were a well oiled machine, the crew ran about, preparing the shuttle and ensuring all preparations on the ship were done, should anything arise. Meanwhile the soldiers and operatives of his Legion armed themselves, and prepared for their mission. Marcus approached the cockpit, just as he heard the Captain making contact with the planet.

"Takodana garrison do you copy. This is Imperial Vandal-class corvette, The Vigilance. Requesting permission to land at the garrison." The captain finished, pausing as he bowed his head to the Inquisitor. A response quickly came from the Eternal Empire's garrison.

"Vigilance we copy. State your business for entering Eternal Empire space if you would."

The captain looked to the Inquisitor, awaiting his nod of approval. When it came, he once again activated the comm. "A few hours prior, an Imperial trade vessel activated its distress beacon on the planets surface. The ship was on Imperial business, and we've come seeking it."

There was a pause, no doubt the communications officer at the garrison checking for any such ship. "Such a ship was spotted on the far side of the planet, though we lost sight of it. You may conduct your inspection under our supervision. Permission to land is granted." The captain let out a sigh of relief, he hated dealing with foreign forces, no matter their relationship with The Empire.

With their request granted, Marcus left the cockpit to the shuttle docked with the corvette where his team awaited him. All heavily armed, and ready to complete their mission. No doubt the garrison was going to put some of their soldiers with them, but he could handle that.

The dull existence on the planet was rarely broken by events that concerned the young Miraluka, this day had a quick turn when on the radars a ship was spotted and then was seen rapidly approaching protected airspace before crashing in the far side of the frontier world.
And a few hours later an Imperial vessel was asking permission to land and search for the craft, he tough nothing of it until a superior came to their post.

"You there, suit up and follow!" commanding and stern, no room for questions, so Vanwe just grab his standard issued gear and followed the commander.

"You are to accompany an Imperial search party, be attentive and don't embarrass us with incompetence or stupidity" Well this was a surprise, but a welcomed one, at least some action.

"Yes sir!" the few men answered in unison, they were quickly briefed on the situation and then lead to the docking hangars to meet the Imperial delegation.

Vanwe hated the helmet, it was uncomfortable and sli9ghtly dampened his vision, but his complains always felled on deaf ears and were met with grunts or bluntly racisms, ah the hospitality of such fine humans.

"So it is not a very important mission if we are sent to survey the stranger hm?" the question just raised a few eyebrows and some non-committal nods within his companions. No other words were spoken as they approached the landings and came in sight with a fine Vessel, The Vigilance as he recalled.

The Vigilance came in for a rocky landing, trying to hurry everything up as fast as possible. The ramp to the corvette flew down before the ship even landed, and out came Marcus. His gold handled dagger sheathed at his waist, along with his three lightsabers, a pistol, and of course, his black obsidian mask for which he was known for. Working with foreign forces was never his strong suit, after all his training in the ISB taught him to trust no one.

As Marcus marched out, he was accompanied by 10 operatives of his own, deciding he didn't need much more than that. The Eternal Empire soldiers stood in front of them, not nearly looking as disciplined as his own men, but he would have to make do. "Who here is in charge." He spoke through his mask. He analysed the crowd for a second.

It was an interesting sight, eleven soldiers, all looking very professional and rather intimidating, the one that seemed in charge was walking in front of the others he had a lightsaber hanging by his side, a force knight!
In his unit there were 7 recruits and 3 soldiers, Harron was the group commander, an annoying half-human half something else that Vanwe didn't bothered to learn, he was tall and arrogant. When asked who was in charge he proudly answered to be the man to refer as commander. If the Miraluka have had eyes they probably been looking to the skies in annoyance.

"You are to follow us and the Eternal Empire rules while on our soil, we are to take hover bikes, but first you shall speak with the commanding officer here to explain in more detail your affairs , I am Harron, to whom I am speaking?"

Vanwe shifted to have a better "look" at the force user, he had a grey aura surrounding him, interesting indeed, maybe this mission wouldn't be so boring after all. His other companions were interested to in the foreigner captain, and were visbly exited to finally see action, probably not a very professional look in the eyes of experienced soldiers.

Marcus analysed the unimpressive group of soldiers, nowhere near as well armed as his own men nor as well trained. He supposed that was the problem with working with foreign powers. He had a bit to say about the so called commander, but he kept it to himself. He knew in a real fight none of them stood a chance. The heavily armoured stormtroopers adjusted their weapons and double checked their gear, most of them carrying packs of equipment.

Marcus adjusted his Inquisitors cloak as a breeze blew against him. "Marcus Voss, Lord of House Voss, Imperial Agent of the Empire, and Inquisitor of the Imperial Knights. Pleasure to meet you." His hopes were that a long title might give him a bit more freedom whilst moving around, and also just to assert his dominance and superior nature to the 'commander.'

"Now, I want to make something clear. When it comes to the safety of my men, I take orders from no one, and if you prevent me in any way from rescuing my men, we are going to have a few problems. Now if we could just hurry this up and get on our way, that'd be much appreciated."

With that, he turned to the soldier closest to him, an officer. "Lieutenant Commander, have the crew prepare the dragon should we need it." This, was a display of power, he wanted to show he was more than capable of dealing with any of them should the need arise, and hopefully prevent them from attacking. The dragon he was speaking of was within a large steel box, which was attached to the side of the ship. The ship itself could have housed the dragon, though it would have been rather uncomfortable.

Marcus was known as a beast master, he owned creatures of all sorts. He didn't normally bring the Tyrant Dragon along with him, but for a rescue mission, it could be useful for an escape. There was one beast, or a few beasts, he should say, which he never travelled without. With a whistle, three giant hounds ran down the ramp. Tuk'ata. He could guarantee none of the soldiers had heard of them before. Massive fearsome beasts, created by the Sith it was said. Imperial Knights did not approve of his choice to use them, but he trusted them. "If you don't mind, this pack will follow us." With that, he muttered a word in the Sith language, and the three Tuk'ata ran off in a random direction.

Vanwe didn't need eyes to see the sudden change in attitude from Harron Matrek, the 23 years old "commander" gulped audibly and even backed a few paces when the bests were moved from the ship, some the other soldiers did the same only he and one other guy stood in place, not exactly for discipline but by pure curiosity.

"Lord Voss, of course the decision regarding your men are yours, and so are the ones regarding this poor waste of air that were assigned to our garrison" the veteran guardian of the post finally united with them, followed by two elite Ultranaut soldiers, the best of the best within the rank of the Eternal Empire, and in the planet there were only a few of them, escorting high ranking officials. Such as the veteran in front of them.

"I was hoping in a better performance from them, but alas that was wishful thinking, commander Matrek, you are to follow the Inquisitor in his mission and assist" it was obvious that their presences in this mission was purely bureaucratic in nature.

"Now, welcome to Takodan and good luck in the rescue" the old man then started to walk guiding them toward the nearest exit were the land vehicles were probably already being prepared and deployed.

Vanwe quickly moved himself toward the beast, keeping at what he tough was a safe distance. The aura of the creatures was fascinating, a deep red colour, a rare one in the Eternal Empire as everything Sith aligned had almost completely being eradicated during the rebellion wars.

"What are we searching? Our briefing only said to escort you toward the wilderness Sir Voss" as he spoke Vanwe adjusted his simple blaster in the belt, a retractable vibro-staff, a standard issue combat dagger, the small backpack was only fitted with simple first aid units and a repair kit for the armament, he couldn't afford the better equipment so the standard issued gear was the only thing he had.

Marcus smirked beneath his mask as the man squirmed at the sight of his beasts. Just then whom he believe to be the commanding officer appeared. It was good to know they had somewhat well trained soldiers on the planet. He simply nodded along as the old man spoke, hoping to hurry it all up. This was all just diplomatic necessities, always be respectful to guests. He was tired of it though.

He was relieved when he finished and walked off in the direction of the vehicles. His men turned in that direction, and followed as Marcus did the same walking in the direction. The make shift group of soldiers followed not quite in an organised fashion. Just then, one of the young soldiers spoke. He turned towards him, noticing him for the first time. He appeared to be steering clear of the beast, which was smart. "We are searching for an Imperial vessel carrying classified cargo. We're going to retrieve the crew and the equipment. Also, it's Lord not Sir, and in the future, just refer to me as Inquisitor." With that, he kept on moving.

The Tuk'ata ran back to him in an instant, it seems they had gotten energised from their little moment of freedom, good. "One more thing, I will not be held responsible for any loss of limb, it is in your best interest not to touch these beasts." He doubted the garrison would miss them if they died, but he had to make it known.

He turned back to the soldier, choosing to ignore the Commander. "Have you received any information regarding the crashed ship?"

Well the commander of the foreigners seemed a strict one, not really something new, he was accustomed to higher ups being arrogant or just to focused on discipline.

While they were approaching the compound exit Vanwe continued to stay closer to the Inquisitor.

"Not exactly, it wasn't a priority as the crashed ship wasn't ours, there would have been a research party sent later into the night to scavenge, however I think there were two others ships that entered the atmosphere soon after, smaller vessels probably, the higher ups said were larger chunks of debris from the ship" it was a stupid idea, how a ship crashed if not by some external influence? But he was a nobody so his suggestion would had been ignored.

"Seems fishy that a good and top notch Imperial vessel just exploded outside our planet atmosphere" his other companions just ignored the conversation being more interested in keeping themself out of any limb biting big sith lizard.

The gaze of Vanwe was always drown toward the light weapon of the inquisitor, he wanted one but, a rare thing to just find and not cheap to obtain in the Eternal Empire and their distrusts of the force.
They finally were in the open, heavy guarded probably in attempt to display force, surrounding the vehicles were engineers making the last checks, it was unusual to use them as not much happened in this post.

"Here Inquisitor, fast and reliable, there is some cargo craft to help you retrieve anything, we expect a full report, even confidential information, as for us this crash seem like an unauthorized invasion of Eternal space" at this words the Miraluka stifled a half laugh and half exasperated sigh more bullshit from dick-waving officers, the search party wasn't probably allowed to depart from confidential materials in the ship and this would cause the parties to wait for diplomatic exchanges at governments levels.

Marcus could sense a lot from the soldiers, some of them in awe, some not too pleased with their arrival, and especially curiosity. The young Miraluka was especially curious, not quite in fear of the beasts at Marcus's heel. His observation of the two ships entering the atmosphere concerned him, could it be pirates? He hoped not, he could not afford to lose that shipment, months of work was on the vessel.

"In this galaxy, who knows what could have happened, all I know is, whoever caused it does not leave this planet alive." He was dead set on that, if news of the shipment escaped, who knew what other pirates might go for the bounty. He shuddered at the thought, and continued walking. As the engineers made their final checks, his soldiers inspected the vehicles, placing their equipment on them and getting everything secured.

When the old man spoke, Marcus paused, his fist slowly clenching in frustration. The Eternal Empire did not need to know what an Imperial vessel was transporting what it was through Eternal Empire space. Not only because he preferred to keep it a secret, but because the Empire hadn't issued it, he had. Or as far as everyone was concerned, his family. The Empire wouldn't question the shipment too much, but the old man would. "We'll see about that last part." The old man clearly didn't care about his soldiers, Marcus would be forced to retrieve the contents of the ship, but he could simply lie about it. Chances were, the soldiers would see, so he'd have to take care of them, maybe say they died due to pirates? His own operatives were trustworthy, as they already knew the contents of the ship.

Hopefully it wouldn't come to murder though. If it came to it, Marcus would do whatever necessary to preserve the Empire and himself.

"Politics and politicians" was the only thing Vanwe said smirking before climbing in the back of an hovercraft to start the mission, there was a lot to ground to cover before actually leaving "civilization" a meagre attempt was made by Harron to keep the localization data to himself as guide of the column, but one of the other soldiers simply snatched the holocron with the presumed crashing was located and courteously handed it to the Inquisitor "Lord Inquisitor you should probably have this", as it was abundantly clear he was in charge and they were there just to report any information the Imperials wanted to keep quiet, and also to basically annoy the professional soldiers withy their inexperience and or ineptitude.

"Thing could get ugly out there" whispered Vanwe to his teammate manoeuvring the vehicle "Why?"

"We are basically seven nobodies with no experience sent to spy on someone who have a lot of experience, we are expendable, probably they are monitoring our comms"

It was the intelligent thing to do, why they were asked vehemently to always wear the helmets? To have all the audio and video feed possible as they weren't really trusted to be able to spy on anyone.

"It's a dumb cargo ship, what secrets are they trying to get, the more popular spices of the galaxy?"

Idiots, he was surrounded by idiots, "If it was simply merchandise the Inquisitor would have easily agreed to reveal the findings, obviously within the cargo there is something more juicy" nothing to important as if that were to be the case a much larger diplomatic incident would be in progress, but nontheles it was a mystery and he for once wanted to know reveal it ... cursed curiosity.

And they were all ready, just waiting for the Imperials to have the beast and gear mounted.

As Marcus got his beasts loaded up onto the cargo craft and everyone else set, he glanced over to the other soldiers. They seemed to be either huddled up or on hovercrafts, talking in whispers. He was shocked out of his thoughts as one of the soldiers handed him the information. "Wonderful, thank you." With that he walked to the lead hovercraft and hopped on.

The curiosity and whispering from two of the Eternal Empire's soldiers didn't escape him. "One more thing, the contents of the vessel are none of your business, curiosity will get you killed, and last of all, we are watching." With that, he started the hovercraft, and waved the Lieutenant Commander over. He was one of his most trusted officers, and he need trust at the moment.

"Lieutenant Commander, I want most of our men behind the Eternal Empire soldiers, I don't trust them enough to have them watch our backs. Ensure their helmet feeds are monitored, and have someone watching them at all times." He said in a hushed voice, not wanting to cause distrust amongst the Eternal Empire. The Lieutenant Commander nodded, and just like that, everything was set.

Then he raised his voice. "Now, is everyone ready to get moving?"

The words of the Inquisitor just made the curiosity itch worse than before.
With a nod to his companion in the hover they followed in the new formation, not really one they were accustomed, but at least when it came to drive the recruits were more experienced, as racing was one of the few distraction they had in the last three months.
The city was speeding all around, the always loved that sensation, a flurry of colours surrounding him and overwhelming his senses, it was chaotic, but there was beauty in that.
As soon as they left the confines of the civilian a military city district they started to drift north where the ship was, a region poorly guarded, as the scans showed a lack of any mineral of use and just a lot of wood and wildlife not very friendly.

"Inquisitor, the craft was in flames as she was crashing down, only one side, motor failure probably"

Right Harron was in surveillance duty during the crash. "I saw a couple of ejected capsules"
Harron was screaming to the Inquisitor, that was information that could have been said before they were in the middle of the mission, ejected capsule had probably crashed much closer to them than the ship and the survivors could aid them in a more precise search.

"And you didn't though of say this when we were at the compound with the video and information of the crash an debris at hand?" a patrol could have been sent to the last known coordinates of the capsules while another group travelled to the crash site, now they had no coordinates to capsules only the flimsy memory of a twenty something brute.

"Sometimes I think that the humans made it so far in the stars by pure sheer luck"

The young Vanwe mumbled lowly.

Marcus droned out the constant conversation as the landscape zoomed by. This was his first time on Takodana as far as he was aware, and the scenery was truly stunning. A more pleasant setting than what he was used to. The convoy sped by at a nice pace, entering the wild in no time, and leaving the city district behind in a blur. Marcus slowed down a bit to hear what the 'commander' had to say, and his information only led further into his frustration at the situation.

Of course, why provide necessary information WHILST preparing, when you could do it in the middle of a bloody rescue. He was with the Miraluka private on that one. He activated the comm line between the entire team, still rightfully pissed at the sluggish brute. "We've received new intel that capsules were released from the vessel just before it crashed. We're going to split into two teams. One will be headed by myself, and the other by the Lieutenant Commander of my team. One team will canvas the area for the capsules, meanwhile the other will investigate the crash until the other teams intel comes through. Do not make contact with any hostiles should you find them." Marcus finished his quick little briefing of sorts.

The situation left much to be desired, but there was little he could do. "Does anyone have anything to add?" His temper was running short, but he had to at least maintain respect. He shot Harren a glare, well, through his mask, he did not want to hear a thing from him. Clearly he was the least competent of them all.

Well the man was indeed justified in his frustration and Vanwe knew that if a mistake like that was committed on duty for the Eternal Empire the idiot would be severely punished, but the mentioning of hostile was exactly what he wanted to hear, so the other team presumed a third party intromission.
As for the question nobody dared to speak.

"As for us lord Inquisitor, how we will be split?"

A fine question at least, if they wanted them to do the least harm possible it was better to keep them in a sole group following the leather, if they wanted to get rid of them well a trip in a forest far from home was the perfect setting and that was something Vanwa didn't wanted.

"We know very little of these lands and less in how to navigate in dense forest as those were the crash is located, it wouldn't be wise to separate us as it will only complicate an already annoying situation for everybody" and he wanted to stay close to the inquisitor, if action was to occur he wanted to see what a lightsaber could do and how a Jedi fought.

Meanwhile Harron just tried to make himself tiny and less visible lowering the head and not making a sound.
It was then that not to far from them that one of the recruits pointed at the top of the trees, there were tiny columns of smoke dissipating into the skies, maybe 10 or 15 kilo-meters inside the woods, to small to be a massive camp fire, but maybe the ship wasn't engulfed in flames as said by the "commander".

Marcus contemplated the Miraluka's thoughts. Yes, it was wise to stick together, but should the need arise, he wanted to be able to pick off the soldiers easily. He quickly made up his mind. "We will still split up, 3 of you Eternal Empire folk accompanied by two of mine will canvas the area for capsules. The others will come with me to investigate the crash. Harren will go with the capsule team, the other two I don't care." Marcus had made up his mind, and he waited for Harren or anyone else to argue.

The Miraluka was a bit too curious for his own good, perhaps the biggest threat of them all. As he went back to his own thoughts ignoring the rest of the group, he spotted the columns of smoke pointed out by one of the recruits. "Alright, split up now, my team on me." Right as he said it, he sped up in the direction of the ship, planning to stop a distance from it.

"You two with Harron, the others with me" there was no time to discuss with that idiot, so he just toke charge. "Follow the orders and don't took necessary risks"

He removed the helmet, inside a forest it would be to dampening. Then adjusted again in the back of the hover with his new "friend" and urged him to be ready for anything.
It took about half a minute to sort things out, the idea of splitting was received with indifference by the recruits, and were ready to follow each group.

"Two pods, how many people can fit in an escape capsule?" he supposed it depended on the ship model, however he also didn't knew about the standard size of vessel and crew on a cargo or mercantile ship inside the Empire.
The question was more to himself, he was thinking about the survivors, if they were attacked and then followed, could they be still alive? Maybe time was more of the essence than what previously expected.
The speed was once again taking them to the wild, he sensed some animals running away from them, as they came closer to the first line of trees the two groups entered in difference directions, hoping that the technology wouldn't malfunction inside, there were no reports on magnetic fields in the area, only a lack of useful resources so things for once should run smoothly.

Before the second team departed from them, he moved to the side of the Lieutenant Commander, who would be joining the capsule team. "Lieutenant Commander, ensure none of the survivors, if there are any, say a word regarding the shipments to the soldiers. If necessary, and only if necessary, deal with the survivors or soldiers." With that Marcus veered to the right, returning to his team as they sped into the woods.

As they plunged further and further into the woods, the columns of smoke dissipated, though it was close enough to tell their location. When they reached a certain point, Marcus slowed to a stop. Everyone else followed suit. He were close enough to the ship to sense something was off, he sensed life, a lot of it, which should not be possible after a crash. Quietly over comms he spoke. "Sergeant Dixon and Corporal Haxon, reach the perimeter of the crash and report back, quietly." The two men he commanded got off their hovercraft and moved in the direction of the crash, one of which was carrying a sniper rifle.

"We're not alone here, everyone be on guard and watch the trees."

As soon as they were into the shade of the trees the ambience changed, silence accompanied by subtle sounds of animals sneaking around, brushing on trees and stepping on branches an fallen leaves.
He was surrounded by visual stimulation, small insects and far away larger mammals travelling in packs. Not many into any side of the force.
The speed was greatly reduced and formation has to be often broke to navigate the cluster of nature.

"How long till we find something?" the question was a normal one, however the mission had just begun and not half an hour had passed since they entered the woods.

"Probably all day, or even a couple, things are not as simple as they may appear" as they were saying this, an explosion was heard to the north-east, to far for Vanwe to accurately define the location.

The young soldiers froze up looking to the Inquisitor for instructions.

X5Yx2PB.png
As everyone froze, Marcus turned off his hovercraft and stepped off. This time, addressing everyone, he spoke. "Two of my men are investigating the situation up ahead. We're still a ways off from the crash site, but I'm not willing to approach any further on hovercraft. I have reason to suspect there are hostiles on site." He waited for everyones reactions as his own men followed suit and formed a perimeter around the parked convoy. The sounds of the wild echoed all around them as beasts lurked in the shadows.

Marcus whistled once, and his own beasts jumped off the cargo craft, and ran off into the woods. They hunted with the force, and would be able to take out anyone in their path should the need arise. "Everyone, gather your gear. We move out once the men report back t0 us." He allowed everyone a moment to gather themselves. "If it turns out theres nothing ahead, we'll move on on hovercraft." He added, though chances of that were slim. Marcus's instincts were rarely wrong.

Vanwe was exited to see the beasts, as they ran other animals scattered afraid of the deadly maws.
They readied, blasters in hand and on guard.

"Finally some action at last"

He was following one of the beast until it disappeared out of his sensorial range, it was hard to explain how he saw the world, how it truly was at least that was what he tough.
Another explosion was set off.

"We are being attacked! Various fronts, we don't know how m..." the communication was severed by another set of smaller explosions. It was one of his companions that was speaking.
