Republic Vs Sith Campaign

Like the title says the idea in question is a series of battles between Sith and Republic writers to call a campaign.

However, they would not be invasions of either faction's worlds. Instead the idea behind this Campaign is for a battlegroup representing each faction to battle it out on Neutral worlds in between their territories. Essentially where both group's writing contributes to a dominion, and the winner of the battle taking control of the world, while the losing faction would fall back to the next planet and a new battle would commence.

Overall I am suggesting that the Republic and Sith each put together a Task Force of 5 Faction Writers and up to 2 Ally Writers. Who will then begin a battle against each other on Chandrila, and regardless of who wins the losing sides forces will retreat to Devaron where the next battle will take place. Each battle's setting being agreed upon beforehand.

The idea of this being a Campaign though, is that the same worlds will be fought over up to the 5 battles is desired. Say should the Sith lose the battle at Chandrila, but win at Devaron, they could choose to battle again on Chandrila (rather than say pushing for Teyr instead) at a second chance to take it. In such a way each faction could come away with a world each or the same world could be taken and lost repeatedly.

The concept behind this campaign is the small writer count to keep things contained and also make it feel like a real battlegroup put together for both sides. If this idea is popular the feature can be added where each battlegroup can bring in an additional writer after the first and second battle.

To be honest since each faction could only gain worlds with nothing to lose I think everyone would have a lot of fun and the scenarios we could setup could be interesting as well, such as a battle conducted completely aboard a space station while people dogfight around it, or Sith and Republic armies clash with Jedi and Sith heroes at the front as rally leaders for Commanders behind the battle lines, etc.

If there are OS and Republic writers interested in this then, feel free to post here and we can always gather more to set things up and talk it out in more detail.

We could even pick out who are aggressors and who are defenders on Chandrila, and before the battle have defenders dev/rp building trenches and a small fortification while the aggressors have spies report the action. Thus prompting the first battle as the aggressors see where and why to attack the other group.

We can act that most ships are transports for the ground forces and that each side might likely have only a few cruisers and frigates as escorts where at neither side would risk major fleet engagement and losing their transports. So space/air combat could be restricted to dogfighting between squadrons with occasional bombing runs available only upon a victor being determined there.

Or we could allow small fleet vs fleet battles if each side had a writer for it to keep said ships occupied. I would imagine neither side would bring invasion sized fleets though.

This sounds cool to me and makes RP sense as both sides would have some type of space presence. Also in cases of close ground RP the space RP could be used as a tie breaker or sorts.

That seems fair. We could add them separate from the writer count so that each side has 1 fleeter apiece and 5 ground/starfighter people and the 2 allied writers or mercenaries.

We just need enough people for it.

But then again what's to stop either side from coming in with a cruiser above the land battlefield and bombing the place to cinders?

Common decency OOC and a sense of fair play?

This, in principle, is a good idea; the whole idea of fleet battles/sith vs republic. Will it actually happen? Probably not.

hmm we could split it a little differently to perhaps 1 fleeter a piece, 4 ground/star-fighter and 1-2 allies? So as not to clutter it all up?

That is all well and good [member="Dune Rhur"] but we both know that isn't the case, relying only on good will just can't always solve things if there aren't clear and set rules placed, even then there have been serious breaking of those set rules.

Well I'd love to get some fleeter training in to learn how do do it and then it would make sense if the dark council member would be staying in the "relatively" safer space battle commanding things there while leaving the ground open for the others.

[member="Dune Rhur"] I'm all for fair play XD but sometimes I find it a little funny to see padawans with next to no skill in lightsaber combat attempt to beat someone who's not only master level but also has mastered two to three lightsaber styles XÞ

I pronounce you Bith and Sith. You may now kiss the Bith!

And right we'd just need to organize writers for both sides. (although my attempt to get IC justification on my end doesn't seem to be too well received)

XD

Totally, honestly I've kinda just been expecting to hear [member="Darth Erebos"] or [member="Darth Ferus"] say they were gonna organize the Sith members into a battlegroup for this while I try to nab some Republic support on my end.
