OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Remembrance
  • Classification: Shrine/Memorial
  • Location: Corellia
  • Affiliation: The Raaf Family
  • Accessibility: Located to the west of Coronet City, just far enough that the city was out of sight, the site isn't hidden or hard to find or hard to access. It just would not have much of an interest for anyone outside of the Raaf family and anyone they were close to.
  • Description: While originally just a simple private family graveyard, Taeli has renovated the area to appear much like the meditation pavilion her sister Corvus would often be found in during her time at the original academy on Ossus. Within the roof of the shrine are synthetic diamonds made from the ashes of the deceased that have been placed in the shape of constellations of Corellia, or in the case of Corvus, Tatooine.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • The center of the shrine has a glass sphere that is designed to catch light from the sun and reflect it as though it were bouncing off water, giving the area a shimmering effect.
  • The ceiling has the synthetic diamonds made from the ashes of her family, along with the names of the deceased etched in aurodium under each constellation design.
  • The grounds around the shrine have been expensively remade to appear as though they were the grounds of the original Ossus Temple gardens from the days of the Galactic Republic, including with imported trees and stone that Taeli quietly saved from destruction when the Sith Empire took the world. Even a small pond and artificial creek have painstakingly been added to the grounds.

SECURITY
Security Rating: Low
  • Beyond a perimeter of sensors to alert Taeli to trespassers, the only other security on the site is on the actual diamonds themselves. The Sith Lady has placed a spell on each gem that acts similar to a Dathomiri blood trail so she can track down anyone that would dare steal the remains of her family. The diamonds also, if stolen, will create a feeling of possessiveness in the thief's mind so they don't sell them and then slowly drive them mad until the Sith Lady arrives. Other than that, the memorial is simply a memorial to the dead.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

For the longest time, the plot of land outside of Coronet City that was allocated for the Raaf family's deceased had been a simple and unadorned plot with basic grave markers. The family, while well off and at least distantly connected to the Halcyons, had chosen to be buried out here and not in one of the city's sanctuaries out of a sense of modesty. It was maintained well enough over the generations, but remained unremarkable until the deaths of the majority of the family following the Netherworld Crisis.

Following the disappearance of her sisters, and after waiting a long time in hope they were simply stranded somewhere, Taeli, the eldest daughter of the family, a Jedi Master of the Galactic Alliance and a secret Sith Lady, had to admit that her sisters and family were completely gone. While the bodies were never recovered, and the hope always remained that one day they might reappear, Taeli set about the grim and heartbreaking task of preparing their ersatz resting place. In that regard, and using her acquired wealth to do so, she decided to create something more to mark the final resting place of her family.

When the temple on Ossus was being looted and destroyed by Kaine Zambrano's Sith Empire, a favorite spot of her sister Corvus while she was headmaster of the temple and later Grandmaster of the Republic Jedi Order, Taeli accompanied that force and quietly made sure certain elements were preserved. Stones and trees of the meditation pavilion were taken by her own forces and spirited away, and from memory and using the same materials, she had the pavilion and the grounds that had surrounded it recreated on Corellia on the family plot. The remains of her ancestors and her birth family were exhumed, and in the fashion of the Corellian diaspora, they were cremated and their ashes converted into diamonds that Taeli had set in the ceiling of the shrine in the constellations of Corellia. Lacking the bodies of Corvus and Melori, she had to use real diamonds for them and she set them in more unique constellations, with Corvus having a design reminiscent of the evening sky of Tatooine and Melori her favorite image of Corellia's night sky.

To protect the diamonds from possible thieves or even from possible enemies of hers, Taeli placed a few Sith spells on the diamonds to protect them and to be able to hunt down anyone that might disturb her family's rest. On the anniversary of the disappearances of Corvus and Melori, and on the anniversary of her family's murder by a bounty hunter hunting for Corvus, Taeli makes a quiet pilgrimage to the shrine and pays her respects.
