  • Susceptibility: All known forms of Carbon-based lifeforms are susceptible to this devastating virus. Although some species have a more hardened resistance to it there are no known species immune to the Blue Shadow Virus, or it's successor.
  • Airborne: This Virus can be initially transmitted through air so long their is oxygen, which is necessary for it to spread with maximum efficiency. Planets with less Oxygen require longer for the virus to spread in a larger capacity.

  • Extremely Crippling: While this strain of the blue shadow virus is not nearly as fatal as the original strain, it can severely damage it's hosts respiratory system and leave them extremely weak, if untreated it can lead to death.
  • Quick Infection: The newest strain of the virus is fast-progressing and can leave a person incapacitated in a matter of hours. If not stopped, the inevitable will befall the target, certain death.

  • Non-hardy: Initial release of the virus is extremely effective, often infecting all susceptible lifeforms within it's range, however the virus itself does not transfer from host-to-host well. Nothing short of physical contact with a heavily infected individual will cause this virus to spread.
  • Droid Resistance: Droid's cannot be affected by this virus, as they lack any respiratory system.

They were so occupied wondering if they could, they never took a moment to ask if they should.

During the Clone War, the CIS revived a feared virus, known as the Blue Shadow Virus. A fearsome virus that could prove fatal in only a matter of hours, it once was responsible for the near elimination of an entire population.

The Imperial Science division was tasked with a near impossible mission, to replicate and revive this fearsome virus. Trial and Error were used for years, as the virus was perfected into what it is today. In the beginning it was tested on small populations and was thought to be a true success, however the Empire was unable to control the spread of the disease, and it threatened to slip into the Imperial ranks. The virus was too hardy, and spread like wild fire, if it was not controlled there could be the threat of Imperial contamination.

After utilizing the only known cure for the blue shadow virus, the Reeska Root, the virus was finally perfected for it's purpose. Aside from a minor side effect, which caused the virus to appear as a red shade rather than blue, it performed perfectly in it's trials. For the virus to spread properly, it will need to be released into a planet's lower atmosphere. From there it will spread over a small area and contaminate those susceptible, which is mostly anyone. Once the virus has taken to it's host, it will go into a shockingly fast reproductive cycle through out the body. In under an hour, the effects of the virus will begin and the host will start to have extreme respiratory problems. Labored breathing, coughing blood, and light-headedness will ensue until the virus is purged from the host's system or they die.

After the next few hours, dementia will begin to set in. Though not extreme, it will mainly effect a person's ability to think and solve problems. If the virus is not treated after the first three days, long term damage can possibly ensue, however it is generally case by case dependent on the host's individual health. After a little over a week, the respiratory system will begin a full shutdown, generally resulting in death.

While the virus was thought to be perfect, the perfections done to make it less hardy, significantly weakened it's lethal effect. While the cure to the virus is under Imperial hands, it is not a difficult virus to cure. With Reeska root, and plenty of rest, the host can be returned to normal in a matter of days.

~~ The Confederate Inception ~~

Following High Moff Malvern's exodus of the Galactic Empire, he took all research done on the Red Shadow Virus with him. After delivering it to the hands of the Confederate science corp their superior science team was able to improve the virus and make it more like the Blue Shadow Virus. Although it is still not a hardy virus the chance of fatality greatly increased with new innovations done by The Confederacy.
