Red Raven Major Faction Application

Name:
Red Ravens

OOC Heirarchy:
[member="Sigourney Xanthius"]
@Lysle of the Hydian Way
[member="Vivian Octavia"]

IC Heirarchy:
PRESIDENT - Sigourney Xanthius
The prez is the leader of the Red Ravens. They are the clubs figurehead and are usually the spokesperson when dealing with the authorities or the media. The prez is the chairperson at club meetings and represents the Ravens at interstellar meetings.

VICE PRESIDENT - Lysle of the Hydian Way
The vice president is second in charge and fills in when the president is away. The vice prez is often the heir apparent to the clubs leadership although this isn’t always the case. It’s their job to make sure that matters passed at meetings are carried out satisfactorily.

SECRETARY - Cryax Bane
The secretary is responsible for the clubs paperwork. They keeps minutes of meetings and records dates of significant events. They correspond with other criminal organisations and it’s their job to keep members informed of upcoming events. The secretary is usually responsible for keeping records of Raven assets although the treasurer will do this in most cases.

TREASURER - Daxton Bane
The treasurer is the Ravens money-man and they're in charge of collecting fees, running funds and paying the bills. The treasurer is responsible for collecting any debts owed to the Ravens and usually gets the job of checking out business opportunities prior to any decisions being made.
Note: The positions of secretary and treasurer work closely together.

SERGEANT AT ARMS - Colap Ticon
The sergeant at arms is basically the Ravens “policeman” although most would not like to be referred to in this way! They enforce Raven procedures and maintains order at Raven meetings. The sergeant is in charge of security at Raven events and they're responsible for attacks on rivals. The sergeant looks after the Ravens firearms and other weapons.

Description:
The Red Ravens is a criminal syndicate operating out of Antecedent. Their reach stretches far, with compounds and warehouses located off-planet on Via and the Colluctari Nebula to avoid the authorities. Located specifically on Ground Zero in Little Coruscant at the Dragon Palace Casino, from here Sigourney's puppet Lysle performs all the inner workings of the Red Ravens. The mastermind that informs the gun.

With a variety of operations such as smuggling runs, bounties, assassination, espionage and slicing, the Red Ravens have proven that they're not joking around in their attempts to control and dominate the criminal underworld. They have performed key movements from mass-recruiting the civilian population on Nar Shaddaa, capture of key figures in the Nova Outbound to the public assassination of Black Sun crime bosses.

The Dragon Palace Casino hides under the facade of a legitimate business that is ultimately controlled by Lysle and his henchmen. Getting in and out of this fortress of thugs, gangsters and hired mercenaries is more than a handful for even some of the most talented. Authorities don't have the hard evidence or the numbers to attempt to crack open the vault of illegal activities that seeps from the casino.

As their multi-billionaire business expands, they're beginning to bribe their way into governmental positions. Already politicians have fallen to their illicit dealings and offering of credits and spices. Private military firms have been hired and swayed under their control, no longer simply a gang, they have the influence of an army and a government. They had well surpassed the Hutt Cartel, a legacy lasting countless millennium that now fades with the setting sun, and soon too will the Black Sun set as a red dawn rises.

One notable theme running through the ranks of the Red Ravens is an unshakable loyalty. Unlike other criminal enterprises who run rampant with snitches and turncoats, the Ravens take care of their own and see their members as invaluable, not expendable. Potential Raven members are identified early on in their own criminal careers and then sought out for highly specialized skills and personalities. Once new Ravens are taken into the fold, they quickly become trained up to be key players in the organization, not just lackeys waiting to get a piece of the action.

Another facet that sets the Red Ravens apart is the sheer variety of criminal types the organization attracts. From the charasmatic faces that do the wheeling and dealing on the casino floor, to hardened weapons experts and battle-tested warriors who provide the the firepower, muscle, tactics, and backup. Last but not least, there is the Ravens’ lineup of slicers who use the highest level of code-breaking technical prowess to find and exploit a company or person’s most guarded digital secrets, as well as outfit the Ravens on Cryptnet servers with next-gen anti-slicing measures.

The Ravens own the police. They own the security that you pay for. They own the secretary working for the highest official in the government. Their purpose is to be in everyone's business and to keep tabs on everybody. Being the silent rulers of the worlds, but allowing their governments to stay in tact. They will be the little devil in the persons ear telling them what to do, and how to do it so others can play right into their hands for them to crush them physically with money, or simply threats of doing one, or the other, or both.

The Pitch:
I let my members speak for themselves. Here are the following statements from each member, when asked why they think we deserve to be a Major faction.

Isaac Ideus said:
The Red Ravens are one of the most active and fastest growing factions on the site. In a few weeks it has already become possibly the most powerful and dynamic minor faction. Not only does it deserve to be able to ply its trade on a larger and more public stage, but a promotion to the list of major factions would benefit the entire role playing community here. The Red Ravens are a unique and headstrong faction whose impact on this site has already been noticeable, and if given the chance its impact will be an even greater net positive for SWRP Chaos.

Frederick King said:
Simply put, because it brings into the fray something Chaos is sorely missing as of late, and that is a proper criminal organization that is remarkably active since it's inception only a short period of time ago, one that isn't just a specialized three to four man crew of slicers, pirates, or mercenaries running amok. Compared to others that tried and failed, it has established clear goals, a coherent direction, and a good player base loyalty in only a few weeks, while still being inclusive enough to allow all manners of criminals and / or shady characters to operate alongside with, while not sacrificing it's theme or general ideas set in stone.

Cryax Bane said:
Here are some of the OOC things that I feel make us unique, if we want to add some of those. Feel free to format anyway you wish:
  • Loyalty to members, ICly and OOCly.
  • Helpfulness to members, especially new ones.
  • Brimming with new ideas and active writers to bring them to life (like Seb's fight club).
  • The desire to game fairly and make sure it's fun for the whole board and not just the faction.
  • Yes, we're criminals, but we're criminals with a heart.
  • The willingness to help writers further their characters story arcs.
  • Events and threads that involve the entire community.
  • Leadership that takes everyone's voice into account (like this thread)

It's a faction that's not over-restrictive, underachieved or dictated, and that's plenty more than enough. The fact that you are deferring to the voice of the members alone says so much about this faction and its administrating body.

As for key points to advertise, I'd go with an open-ended approach. Express how all sorts of people fit in, how it's not formal or strict like a military or the Jedi. Really sell the freedoms, aspirations and luxuries of the faction. Above all else, make people see this is a comfortable place for many where anyone can get their story on and do what they enjoy doing.

The other side of the coin is that this faction is already increasingly popular and with that alone will gravitate even more members to the cause; people like large, active factions.

It's a very rare thing RR has, being so popular in such a short time, and overall such a successful group.

Chiasa Kritivaas said:
Because we are not only engaging our own members in active story-lines and character progression, we are engaging every player on the board who reaches out to us or who we have actually reached out to because their character has useful skills in some way. Because we are so varied and so creative that almost everyone is useful to us. Because with the writers we have, there is a very strong chance that major or minor we will strongly impact the entire board.

And I remember a question about why the Board needed two criminal factions.. What's the point of a criminal faction with no real rivals? Thats like Jedi without Sith. Conflict causes growth, and oh boys will things be growing around here ;)

A group I knew I wanted to join as soon as I saw them and I fitted right in. A genius thing is that the RR even got a theme going on with all these lovely cyan and pink colors. It got my support. Definitely.

still gotta meet the rules tho, if you do it before the weekend I'll put you on the map Sunday.
May I request clarification on this? I assume that you mean 7 unique writers to sign in?

Edit: I should be also thanking you for giving us this opportunity. All of us Ravens are very grateful.
