Incapable of performing movement, the ships are then able to combine their power by creating a energy field all benefit from. The Raptor Imperialis-class is a refurbished Eternal Fleet battlecruiser with an upgraded weaponry but without the advanced cloaking and stealth technology. Mainly recovered from the ancient protocols on the Phalanx, the new generation of ships runs on base routines of the sentient GEMINI Droids, limiting them further than their original brethren. Yet the maintain a high degree of operational independence and minor degrees of personality.
The new ships are meant both as a first line of defense as well as patrol ships and to serve in quick reaction forces. They are quite cheaply produced and with their absence of any organic crew, very easy to man and also expendable. Their primary purpose is to engage an enemy either till the target is destroyed or to stall till actual reinforcements of the Battlefleet arrive.
With their formation protocols, the Raptor Imperialis is capable of taking on much larger ships and delivering devastating attacks on ships, fortifications and planets alike. Though immobile in their Phalanx-stance, the potential damage which their rather simple shields can hold or their weapons can pump out, is manyfold over their individual configuration.
Each ship holds several thousand skytroopers with boarding pods, offering extensive boarding and invasion potential.
