STRENGTHS
  • Fighter Carrier: The Taskmaster carries a lot of starfighters for its size, five full squadrons.
  • Rapid Deployment: The oversized central hanger bay doors are capable of deploying the entire complement of fighters in a matter of seconds (assuming said squadrons are properly prepped). It is also a two-level affair, so it is also possible to deploy and recover strike craft at the same time.
WEAKNESSES
  • Underarmed: There's only so much room for power plants and gas plants with a large hanger. The Taskmaster sacrifices firepower for a bit of extra shielding.
  • Sluggish: Actually, everything's gotta give.
DESCRIPTION
The design that would become the Taskmaster class is in fact the fourth variant of the project, and was able to finally find a niche as a light cruiser-sized escort carrier. While a close relative of the original Ton-Falk design, the Taskmaster is much better armed, though it is still not a major combatant by any means. Like its forebearer, it carries a full starfighter wing of six squadrons, with a large central hanger bay that provides plenty of room to launch, recover, conduct maintenance, and otherwise support the embarked squadrons. As a side-effect of having so much deck space, the Taskmaster makes a decent planetary assault ship in situations where larger vessels are unavailable. If all the strike craft are cleared out one can fit a sizable number of landing ships and shuttles, which can subsequently be carried into atmosphere by the Taskmaster.

The Taskmaster features a decent armament, with six twin turbolaser turrets as primary, and a variety of other turrets for defense, and finally a
standardized battery of twelve missile tubes back aft. It's not miserable by any means, but is fairly underarmed for a light cruiser. The hull construction is built to the usual First Order standard, the cavernous hanger bay necessarily compromises the structural integrity. Additionally the armor and shielding of the vessel is also sub par, largely to keep production costs down. Overall this gives the ship a respectable defense against other strike craft and smaller escort ships, but it is still extremely vulnerable to similarly sized vessels, and must be carefully protected.

The Taskmaster is also capable of performing the precision microjumps of its predecessor, and often pairs with Nebulon-II Frigates on patrol missions, utilizing the long-range sensors of the frigate to pinpoint enemy positions, and then deploying the squadrons to block exit routes from the system while the frigates close. With a substandard 2.0 Hyperdrive, it is not considered a 'fleet' vessel, at least by old First Order doctrine. In these leaner times, it is nevertheless often seen on the front line as the primary carrier support for a task force. Otherwise the ship is fairly unremarkable, and exists mostly to fill a gap in the First Order lineup. The Taskmaster is rarely seen in major battles, given that it is much more economical to take Vindicator-class ships, and is largely relegated to patrol and support tasks. It is more than adequate for the role, and is often used as an early command ship for promising officers.

Ton Falk. I remember Tie Fighter missions on them, still love the design. Also the microjump computer? That is going to be evil in a fight.

We have problems however.

Hangar Allocations:
  • Starfighters: 6 Squadrons
    OR
  • Support Craft: 6 Squadrons
You cannot have one or the other. Make the proper adjustment like 2 and 4 or 4 and 2 as examples.

  • Hyperdrive: (Does this ship have a hyperdrive? Only choose yes or no. The lack of a hyperdrive may be included in the weaknesses of a submission.)
  • Hyperdrive Class: (If this ship has a hyperdrive how fast is it? The lower the number, the faster the ship is, you may choose decimals. Any speed below 1.0 requires the hyperdrive to be added to the ship’s strengths and accordingly balanced with weaknesses. Links: Hyperdrive, Hyperdrive Comparisons)
Please add in the new template. Sorry and many thanks.

Let me know when you done the necessary changes.
