Question Production Scale

I have a question on Production scale. I understand that the other ratings like Speed and Armament scale to the size of the ship so a fighter with low maneuverability would still be more maneuverable in absolute terms than a Star Destroyer with a low rating. Does that apply to production scale as well? I can see a semi-unique Star Destroyer being limited to a half dozen at most but would a semi-unique fighter be able to have say a dozen or two fielded examples?

A second question. Let's say I submit a limited production ship for use by my Clan. All is good per my understanding of the rules. If a PC wishes to buy an example of that ship for their personal use, could I sell them one even though the would-be buyer is not technically part of the approved group?

ProductionUnit
Unique(1) Starfighter
Semi-Unique (Single small unit, squad, or squadron)Squadron Count (e.g., Average - 12 per Squadron)
Limited (Small Group: Single Minor Faction, Company, or Group)Squadron Count - likely no more than a dozen total squadrons
Minor (Large Groups: Single Major Faction, Companies, Groups)Squadron Count - Hundreds, if not thousands, of Squadrons
Mass-Produced (Anyone)Can be found on any Starfighter Lot across the Galaxy

As you see with the table example above. If you produce a Unique Starfighter, it is the only one in existence. If you produce a Starfighter with a Production Rating of Semi-Unique, then you default to the Squadron Count. So if you have a Starfighter with Semi-Unique production and a Squadron Count of 12, then there are only 12 of those Starfighters in existence - scaling with the Squadron Count (None: 1, Very Low: 4, Low: 8, Average: 12, High: 16, Very High: 20, Extreme: 24).

Provided that you gave that specific individual permission (e.g., you post a Marketplace for your ships and someone requests XX amount of Starfighters or Capital Ships, and you approve the "purchase"), that person may use that vessel with your approval even without being part of the approved group listed under affiliation.

Word of caution, however. When you grant permission to use a submission, be careful who you grant it to, because once you do, it is nearly impossible to retract later.

Ame is correct.

When it comes to production scales they work the same across all submissions. So in the case of any semi-unique submission, that maxes out at 24 units existing at any time (The max size of a squadron).

In terms of other people using your submission, the writer's permission is king. As long as they have your permission then they can use it, even if it's not affiliated with them. However, Ame is also correct that once permission is given it can't just be revoked again if you have a falling out.

This should legitimately be the first thing people see when it comes to production ratings

Edit: Also, as a side note, I'm very much of the opinion that there should be something in between "Limited" and "Minor" production, because is what you said it accurate, a "Limited" production run tops out at 288 ships (12 squadrons time 24 unit size) and I think there are numerous submissions that would benefit from having a place between hundreds of squadrons and twelve squadrons total. Like say I want something that has a limited production run of 500-1,000 ships. It can't be limited cause you've said it tops out at 12 squadrons but its too small for minor production. Just a thought!

Edit 2: Also this actually raises another question, at least for me: how exactly would production ratings work for capital ships? For example, I've got an electronic warfare Star Destroyer sized vessel on roster at Semi-Unique, how many of them can I field in total, cause all capital ships are default squadron size of one, right?

This was more to my question. perhaps I should not have used starfighters as an example as I was interested in scaling in general which the answer seems to be no it does not scale. So, assuming no other restrictions, a limited run of a ship is a maximum of X no matter if they are a gunboat or a star destroyer. If one capital ship is a squadron then what's the difference between unique (1) and semi-unique (1 squadron) Using the "reasonable" standard I would think a limited run for a frigate sized ship would be larger than a run of star destroyers.

Also I am creating ship classes for a police type of unit for my faction so Limited (Small Group: Single Minor Faction, Company, or Group) seems to fit the bill. with the 'Within Reason' standard applying to actual RP'd numbers with the full production limited to that group (i.e. they couldn't be standard Mando issue). But what about PC purchases, does that could against the limit? If one PC wanted to buy six or six PC's wanted to buy one each could they if I approved or do I have to keep track of things I sell?

Sorry if this is pedantic as the RP seems to be rather hand wavy when it comes to RPing unless things are abused but I want to make sure I do things correctly.
