Tech Privated Accounts Unprivated

600+ Accounts have been unprivated. While we're usually big on privacy, 1) this isn't Facebook, you're all behind pseudonyms and 2) While Staff is always able to see your activity and your subaccounts, other players cannot.

Anonymity has its perks, but in an arena with subaccounts, it can have drastic consequences - consequences our leadership, Valiens, and I are all unanimously opposed to dealing with ever again, and have claimed our stake for more than a decade in doing so.

I believe I did a half measure last time this debate happened and people probably found out you could still go to the /privacy URL manually to change it. This will no longer work.

Some accounts were set to private. Where is you attempted to look at their account page, recent posts, or any of the cool links underneath your avatar and name, it would come up with a site based 404 error of "you don't have permission to see this." Which means no one could see what accounts the individual had.

Unprivated means tef removed that from the accounts. So now everyone can see everyone.

This is a fantastic change. as someone who's had stalker-ish encounters on the internet it always bothered me when i went to check out a character bio or check who it is that wants to write with me only to turn up nothing. It was viscerally uncomfortable and I'm glad that's over
