OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To submit a Shadowport in use by criminals, Baize and the Black Sun specifically.

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Space Station Name: Port Yaga
  • Station Model: Yaga Minor shipyards
  • Classification: Shadow Port
  • Location: Yaga Minor
  • Affiliation:
  • Population: Heavy
  • Demographics: Fair mix of humans and aliens with the gravity point leaning towards native aliens from the Tingel Arm
  • Accessibility: Not hidden at all. In a previous life the Yaga Minor Shipyards were one of the primary shipyards servicing the Mandalorian Clans (through MandalMotors), the Sith Empire (through a parastatal organization) and then finally the New Imperial Order. With the collapse of the latter the shipyards has become host to various criminal elements, some of which previously affiliated with the NIO security bureau and similar forces. Trade ships and official commerce has designated Port Yaga as a hot spot of piracy and a travel advisory is currently in affect. This has not prevented enterprising sentients and corporations with low scruples to still be active on-station however.
  • Traffic: High - Previously incredibly busy with too many ships to count coming in and out. With the slow collapse and disintegration of the Empire the traffic has slowed down. The measure of traffic has also shifted. Whereas before it was entirely legitimate, the clientele has shifted towards the illegal and those with low morals.
  • Description: Port Yaga was originally known as the Yaga Minor Shipyards, one of the most productive shipyards in the Galaxy. With the dissolution of the Empire and the slow collapse of its security apparatus new vested interests have appeared in the region. One of which is a group of rogue ISB agents, that have taken advantage of the power vacuum by taking control of former state-aligned assets. Port Yaga is one of these projects. In the last few weeks any elements that wished to maintain law and order have been chased off the shipyards and instead a calm equilibrium has been established between various criminal groups, many of which belong to the reconstructed Black Sun. Infighting has been reduced to a minimum and Baize has been witnessed as a figure of note who maintains order by virtue of his chokehold on the influx and outflux of armament and weaponry.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • St. Yaga Lane: The once-thriving promenade has been turned into an open air black market. You can find people haggling, makeshift stalls being opened and closed, while the more established criminal players have taken over the permanent shops that were located there.
  • The Yards: Luckily the shipyards were taken over by former Imperial ISB agents who knew what they were doing. As such most of the shipyard capacity was managed to be retained after the take-over. Currently the Yaga Minor shipyards are being utilized to construct larger ships for grey and black market applications that usually have no access to such high-end services.

SECURITY
Medium

  • Former Imperial KX-series Security droids serve as the main enforcers of what counts for order on Port Yaga.
  • Auto-turrets exist in key junctions to contain aggressors.
  • Deflector shields are in operation both within the facilities as well as to offer protection for the shipyards.
  • Several Neeran-class frigates are stationed around Yaga Station to provide support if necessary.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Yaga Minor Shipyards have a long and illustrious history as one of the primary shipwrights for the Galaxy. While they never came close to the stature of the Kuat Drive Yards, they were still often named in the same breath as Bilbringi and Fondor. The yards have changed hands quite often, from Mandalorians to Sith to Imperials, and now play host to criminals, pirates and smugglers making their home in the Tingel Arm. A rogue ISB operation laid claim to the station, pushing out legitimate merchants and unwilling corporatists, before using their connections to the crumbling NIO security apparatus to solidify their hold over the unaligned shipyards. They brought in now unemployed civil engineers to refit the yards for their own purposes and began an arms smuggling operation from out of the newly christened Yaga Station.

It is unclear yet if they will manage to keep their grip on the station. While the formal nation of Imperials has crumbled, there are still rival elements who wish to either reconstruct the Empire or seize their own fiefdom. Furthermore, while they have formally aligned with the Black Sun, this has also earned them rivals in the criminal underworld. For the time being they have managed to make their home here under the aegis of Maximilian Baize, a former ISB overseer, currently serving as the de facto leader of this fledging criminal enterprise.

Yaga Station is a safe haven for the Black Sun, offering ship repairs and refits for a friendly price, while also preparing to open a wider ship construction towards the criminal underworld.

Profitable indeed.
