STRENGTHS
Gravpacks, sometimes referred to as Gravitic Harnesses, are a recent innovation initially intended primarily for special forces, elite skirmishers, and the like, though they have also found their way onto the loadouts of common infantry, most frequently as high-tech parachute analogues. In this role they are exceptionally flexible, being able to safely disperse momentum in both short (off the top of a building) and long (from high orbit) jumps.
More advanced users/models are capable of impressive feats of aerial acrobatics or, for that matter, simplified maintenance of spaceship exteriors. Due to the complex nature of operating such devices, mind-machine interfaces such as Neurocrowns are highly useful - but not required.
- Gravitic Manipulator: The Icharus allows users to increase or decrease their weight (but not mass), disperse momentum quicker and safer than more primitive cloth parachutes, and even manoeuvre around in midair a la Mandalorians; many uses require something to push off of or pull to; unlike conventional repulsorlift, gravity wells are not the only option - skilled users may also use them for, e.g., boarding actions.
- Flight of Icharus: Gravpacks are not nearly strong enough to escape a planet's gravitational influence on their own; exact altitude limits will vary based on the size/sophistication of the Gravpack in question and the mass it is carrying. They do work in space, but only by pushing off or pulling towards large or nearby objects, e.g., starships, asteroids, debris, and (if you are feeling particularly suicidal) space mines.
