  • Canon Link: Not Applicable
  • Permissions: Not Applicable
  • Primary Source: Terentatek
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Arcturus Thesh
  • Affiliation: Arcturus Thesh, Melydia Gold Melydia Gold & Ishani Dinn Ishani Dinn
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: Thesh's Perfectly Perplexing Pocket Sand
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Semi-Unique (3)
  • Material: Terentatek Leather, Electrum, Beads and Adornments, Alchemized Sand
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The alchemized particles of sand are capable of rendering one's opponent's temporarily blind should it reach their eyes.
  • The pouches used to contain it are beautiful works of art in and of themselves, and highly durable thanks to the terentatek leather.
STRENGTHS
  • Blinding: As it says on the tin, the sand is capable of blinding one's opponent's temporarily.
  • Durable Packaging: The pouches which house the sand are highly resistant as per the nature of terentatek leather.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not Bottomless: Though the pouch is capable of holding a fairly large amount of sand, given how small sand actually is, there is a limit and once empty it would require the whole process to be redone anew. More sand would have to be painstakingly alchemized to refill it, a process which takes time and effort.
  • Not Forever: The blinding effects do not last forever. After a few minutes vision will be returned in full, with no lasting effects.
  • Precise: If it doesn't enter their eyes, it isn't going to work! One must be precise when flinging it at their target. Use of the Force is highly advised to avoid wasting it!
  • Finnicky: It's not exactly the best tool to use mid battle. Between opening the pouch, grasping the sand, and attempting to perfectly fling it at one's enemy, more often than not other avenues are preferred.
  • Force Light/Other Nullifying Effects: As per usual, the effects of the sand can be nullified. In the presence of ysalamiri it's temporarily invalidated, and should it be subjected to Force Light the effects would be removed entirely.
DESCRIPTION

Pocket sand is cool. All the cool kids have it. Who doesn't want to kick dust into the eyes of their enemies, and make a break for it in the aftermath? Well, with pocket sand you have that dust readily available! What's better than that? Pocket sand which actually blinds! Temporarily, at least.

As an amateur alchemist Thesh wasn't able to make the effects of his meddling quite so potent as others might have, he could not force permanent blindness on his foes, but that didn't stop him from trying all the same. Not every Sith relishes the fight, and for one such as Thesh who was far more focused on his studies than saberwork having a way out of battle is at times a necessity.

Hence the development of his Perfectly Perplexing Pocket Sand.

The sand was alchemized en-masse for several days, and the pouch which holds them made in a similar fashion. Inside of the pouch are countless runes made to help keep the effects of the alchemy longer-lasting. After all there's a lot of sand within each pouch, and that means it'll take quite some time to get through it.

He had enough leather to create three of these pouches, each the size of a typical coin purse. One he kept for himself, the next was gifted to Melydia Gold Melydia Gold who helped him acquire the leather in the first place, and the last was set aside. One day he'll find someone to give it to.

Given how long it took to alchemize the sand, and how easily it could be rendered ineffective, it's unlikely that Thesh would ever create more of it without proper compensation for his work. And who would pay for more of such a niche item?
