PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Orbit-Deployable: Like the IM-455 Modular Garrison, the Parapet can be deployed from an orbiting starship and make direct landfall by itself without the need of specialized support craft. It accomplishes this feat by using an array of repulsorlifts which while incapable of actually moving this heavy installation, can slow the descent of the installation to safe levels for its occupants and the technologies inside it.
  • Environmental Protection: The Parapet is an entirely environmentally sealed through the use of back to back turadium blast doors which act as airlocks and a Vitae-class Life Support System. This allows Parapets to placed on worlds with hostile atmospheres or an entire lack of atmosphere (such as on many moons) and provide habitable quarters for its occupants.
  • Modular Towers: As the main, central tower on the Parapet provides all of the Garrison's essential functions, the two outer towers of each Parapet are entirely modular and can be swapped out to fulfill different needs. Civilian modules include hospitals, diplomatic offices, laboratories, and simple warehouses. More military-minded modules include different weapons, sensors, shield generators, and vehicle hangars. This modularity allows Parapets to be customized for a vast number of environments and purposes.
  • Interlockable: Parapets can be linked together on the ground via the side towers, allowing them to be become the basis of much larger complexes. It's not uncommon for eight Parapets to be joined together to form an octagon, with the center of the circle acting as a staging ground for vulnerable assets or the construction zone for a more permanent fixture.
  • Expandable: Each Parapet serves as the base of more permanent construction. Hundreds of support personnel along with dozens of field engineer droids are capable of expanding the base complex outside of its pre-fabricated state. It's not uncommon for the field engineer droids to excavate vast tunnel and cavern networks that can house more people, power generators, and other facilities. These same personnel and droids also frequently set up a more defensible perimeter, with the droids digging up trenches, forming earthen walls, and laying down landmines while technicians set up sensor beacons and death fences to form interlocked defenses that typically manned by the base's security droids and troops. As with the older IM-455s, it's entirely possible for Parapets to serve as the basis for permanent settlements and bases.
STRENGTHS
  • Well-Armed: Parapets have a reasonable amount of weapons capable of defending it from a variety of threats
  • Well-Defended: Parapets have thick walls and multiple shields, providing its occupants with reasonably good protection from most groundside threats.
  • Modular: Each of the outer towers is modular and is capable of being replaced with a speciality tower, allowing Parapets to fulfill a wide variety of roles from civilian diplomatic and science outposts to heavily armed defensive emplacements and shield generators.
WEAKNESSES
  • Stationary (groundside): Once a Parapet makes groundfall, it is entirely unable to move unless recovered in pieces by a frigate or larger starship to be relocated to a new location.
  • What maneuverability? Parapet has no ability to alter its course once launched from its carrier starship.
  • What Weapons? during orbital drop): Parapets are unable to activate any of their weapons during their orbital drop due to all of its weapons power being routed to the repulsorlifts that control its descent.

DESCRIPTION
The IM-455 Modular Garrison was key to providing the old Galactic Empire with a series of easily deployed but well-defended outposts in the Outer Rim and Unknown Regions, giving the Empire a foothold in conquering and exploring a vast variety of worlds. Some of these prefabricated bases became permanent fixtures on their own or the start of new cities and outposts. Seeking to replicate this basic ability for the Silver Jedi Order and the Directorate, Lucerne Labs designed their own version of a pre-fabricated base but with some slightly different focuses. Since neither the Directorate or Silver Jedi Order have thus far embark on sustained campaigns of conquest, the Parapet does not carry as many troops or vehicles as its predecessor, this also makes the individual base noticeably smaller, allowing two such bases to be carried instead of a single IM-455 on older starships. As with most Lucerne consortium products, there is a salient focus on modularity. While the main tower of the Parapet contains all of the living quarters and core mission functions, the two side towers are entirely modular, allowing the bases to be customized for different missions before deployment. Some of these towers are entirely civilian in terms of function, but more often than not, the towers are military focused or at least have some military applications. It is not uncommon to mix-match towers so that each base has military and civilian functions. These are the current tower options offered by Lucerne Labs.

Shield Generator: This tower contains a Bulwark-class Planetary Shield Generator on its upper levels and a fusion generator on the lower levels to provide the shield with sufficient power. Upon initial deployment, this tower can only provide about half of its shield strength until more permanent subterranean structures can be tunneled out underneath it to house a larger fusion generator or link up to another external power source.

Sensor Outpost: This tower is studded with a variety of sensors including an omni-directional sensor globe, Omniprobe, several focused uni-directional sensor dishes, courier communications scanner, and life-form scanners. Within the station itself, a variety of sensor techs and analytical droids can monitor these sensors through OrC-19 com-scan consoles.

Hospital: This tower acts as a small but entirely self-sufficient hospital focused primarily on providing emergency relief. It has hundreds of bacta tanks and stasis field generator-enabled hospital beds to help immediately stabilize and treat patients along with a comprehensive imaging suite, pharmacy, surgery suites, and living quarters for medical personnel. An emergency medicine bay at the bottom of this tower contains several ambulances and several hundred repulsorlift stretchers. This module is typically used as part of disaster relief missions or as military hospitals near the front lines.

Consulate: This tower contains the offices and office equipment needed to run a diplomatic mission. This includes temporary living areas for a small number of refugees as well as a garage for a small menargie of landspeeders, airspeeders, and shuttles that diplomats might use to travel across a world.

Laboratory: This tower contains labs, storerooms, and necessary equipment to conduct various types of science experiments which varies depending on the exact nature of the science being studied. Sometimes these include robotic lathes and mills for making parts for testing out weapons or components of larger starship systems, but it could also include lights for artificial greenhouses or cages/holding areas for studying various local fauna captured on newly discovered worlds.

Warehouse: These towers act as warehouses, with each floor being almost entirely open and containing shelves to hold various goods. Each of the four floors contains a single turreted C5 tractor beam emitter which can be used to help move goods inside the floor.

Housing: This tower contains basic dormitories, capable of providing basic but comfortable housing for soldiers, refugees, students, expedition members, and other number of other people who might need housing, along with basic communal facilities such as lavatories, kitchens, and common rooms. Each tower can comfortably hold about a battalion of troops.

Terraforming: This tower contains most of the terraforming parts of the Elysium Model 2 atmospheric processor, but in smaller numbers. This allows the Parapet to begin converting atmospheres to breatheable types for different species. A pair of these towers on a parapet can equal the ability of the basic Elysium Model 2, making Parapets potentially valuable in reclaming worlds from Bryn'adul or environmental devastation or in terraforming other inhospitable worlds.

Planetary Shield Generator: This tower contains a Bulwark-class Planetary Shield Generator as well as a small power generator. This generator can immediately provide power to the shield generator upon the base's deployment to the ground, but it is only able to provide about 25% of the shield's full power. Further work by the base's engineers can usually link the shield generator tower up to geothermal or hydroelectric power or from a larger power generator - this process usually takes some days to accomplish, hower.

Starship Hangar: This tower is a two level hangar, with each hangar level capable of supporting 2 squadrons of starfighters or support craft. Each hangar as a pair of Hansen Feathertouch tractor beam projectors in order to assist with landings or maneuvering vessels within its relatively small confines. The facilities are fairly rudimentary, but it does allow craft to be refueled and rearmed as well as undergo typical maintenance activities. It does not provide substantial repair facilities though.

Vehicle Garage: This tower is a three level vehicle garage, complete with basic maintenance facilities as well as three vehicle turbolifts for shuttling vehicles back and forth between different levels. The garage can hold several dozen civilian landspeeders or airspeeders, two dozen main battle tanks such as Lucerne Labs's own Katarn-class Main Battle Tank or other equivalents.

Anti-Air: This tower has six quad-barreled Vaapad-class Laser Cannons, four Rainburst-class Flak Cannons, and two Plumbata-class Defense Batteries with extended magazines. Additionally, the anti-air tower also has four Modular Auxiliary Systems Turrets to provide minor tractor beam projectors, sensor jamming, and anti-projectile defense. This provides substantial air defense abilities to the Parapet with multi-level.

Artillery: This tower has four Capricorn-class Rail Guns and four Rhongomyniad-class Mass Driver Cannons along with extended magazines and power supplies. Parapets in this configuration only retain their basic installation sensors, so they typically rely on outside platforms (friendly ships, forward observers, probe droids, satellites, etc) to provide targetting data for far away targets. This multipurpose tower can be employed against frigates and smaller starships, enemy ground forces, and aircraft with reasonable chances of success.

Surface-to-Orbit Artillery: This tower contains a single Scorpio-class Artillery Emplacement along with an extended ammunition bunker and additional power generators. This provides the ability for the base to attack orbiting starships much like traditional planetary turbolasers and hypervelocity cannons, making the Parapet a reasonable threat to large warships such as Star Destroyers and battlecruisers.
