The battle had begun in earnest around the old imperial base, Generals [member="Thoja Arlos"] and [member="Elaine Thul"] were already engaging the enemy but positive ID and force strength was still yet to be determined. Elements of the 1st battalion we diverting too as the size and strength still yet to be determined.

Ali Hadrix said:
::General Bantam, this is CSAF Lord Commander CC-01. I have Larty gunship support heading to your unit's location outside the Imperial Base. I would like to request that Republic forces cease fire long enough for me to attempt to engage with the hostile force's leadership and see if I can't talk them out of their fortress. Will you honor that request?::

Splendid idea, tough to make the enemy comply, though. This battle was new and fresh blood was already spilled, so slowing the battle may prove to be tough indeed.

"CC-01, if you have an in with these new forces to impose such a cease-fire then bully for you. Right now my concerns are we have an enemy of unknown size and a ship that is stealth enough to evade sensors. I can order a hold on the advance but I'll be damned if I tell Generals Arlos and Thul to holster their blasters and start eating bolts because one of my Generals wants to play "com-by-ya" with people shooting at us. Get me intel on this enemy. If they want to talk great, we can talk cease-fires then, but until that happens you three need to coordinate efforts to ensure we all work together."

She looked puzzled as the general asked her not wipe out the pirates, she did nt have much to help stun people either. Though it did not matter, she was asked to do something in field of battle, she would comply. Okay, I use my forces to surround the enemy. As I have not got much in the way stunning, until my main infantry force arrive. She then sent a communication to leader of her tank unit, Keep all fire away from base, and use the barrage to cover advance of General Arlos advance. She then turned to general and asked Do you need my housecarls, to advance, though they are not equipped for capture, just taking people out? It was up to him, if he wanted a group of power armoured troops, to spit reaper fire at the enemy or not. As she spoke she saw air speeders, dart above her. Giving them information on the enemy position, they had armour and infantry up ahead.

That did not matter to her, she was going to do as this general said.

Acaleus nodded and took out his radio and called for Venus. The pilot left the corpses of two Fire Breathers before picking up the assassin "To the caverns you say? Im going to check the radar and take you..." "No i need you to give me air support. Im going to fly another ship" "Rooooger that" "Im not going to destroy the ship..." "Roooger that"

Acaleus flew the acuatic ship into the ocean while Venus circle the area in the AT-120. He managed to drive the ship without smashing it on the rocks or any whale on the planet "Turn right then go straight" told Venus on the radio before losing any communication. In a minute, he turned on the flashlights only to see a fire breather with an X on its head "If i find that you damaged my weapon i will destroy you!" but the monster instantly attacked the ship, using its tentacle to damage it. Acaleus only drove forward only to appear on a surface of the cave. The assassin leave the ship as far as possible before the Fire Breather smash it to the wall and destroy it "Need some back up!"

Gir bracketed the lead Cyclone-class Bomber in his target reticle, waiting for it to flash green. While not the greatest dogfighters, Cyclones were unusually durable and packed enough ordinance that Gir hesitated to simply put his fighter in a basic head to head run against one. He depressed one pedal and light rotated his flight yoke in various directions, causing Angel 2 to randomly jink and juke. Gir struggled to his target reticle centered on the Cyclone with his evasive actions. Suddenly the bracket alternated green and yellow. Gir pulled the trigger, causing the fighter's twin repeating laser cannons to sputter out streams of emerald fire. As he did so, the space around him lit up in vibrant reds and greens as the other starfighters and starbombers began to fire. Gir saw his first shots go high over the starbomber before they tracked down to splatter across the starbomber's front shields. The starbomber fired in turn, with its fixed laser cannons off-target, but its double ion cannons ripped away at his double-front shields. He spared a glance at his holo HUD for his shied status, but as he did so, the starbombers flashed past him.

He pulled hard on his yoke. His HUD flashed yellow as Stadler's craft briefly crossed his flight path as it banked out of the way from a hostile R-45. The cloudly world of Mimban briefly filled his viewport before he bracketed the stern of his target. He pulled the trigger, causing several more bursts of laser fire to drill away at the shields. He saw Stadler's craft surge forward towards her target. Looks like the sensor decoys are out...but were they hit and destroyed by enemy fire? Or did something else happen? Stadler's voice began to flow through his com.

"I got an interceptor on me. Can you take him?"

Gir flipped through his HUD before selecting the blue and silver R-45 that had doggedly decide to pursue her. He blinked. It doesn't have a wingmate...that's odd...

"I got it."

Gir gently tilted his yoke to the right, taking Angel 2 in a lazy arc towards Stadler and her pursuer...

Alyona's trek through the swamps continued in silence; it seemed the Republic had done a decent job of ridding the rest of the region of the nefarious Firebreathers. She made her way carefully through the mists, avoiding deep waters and local wildlife as best she could. Her current goal was to locate the ancient city once identified by the Jedi; it supposedly rested deep in the mountains of the continent. Her journey would prove appropriately lengthy as she had miles and miles of swampland to cross before rolling hills signaled the foot of the mountains. As a result, Alyona had plenty of time to think, and reflect, on a great many things. The swamps were treacherous, but not overly so, allowing Alyona to maintain a lowered state of alertness. Her thoughts were inevitably driven to Xavka, the Zabrak she'd encountered on Togoria some weeks ago.
The man had identified as a Sith, initially earning him Alyona's ire. He'd attacked her, unprovoked, in the valleys of Togoria's plains outside of the capital city, pursuing her through the forests and into a well-vegetated canyon wrought with rivers and waterfalls. The fight had drained Alyona utterly, drawing from her a veracity she'd not exemplified in some time as a Jedi. She had been reduced, in many ways, from the Jedi she had strived to be as a result of Corvus Raaf's tutelage, and Alyona was not altogether disillusioned with this regression.
She had felt so alive during their engagement, despite the fact that the man had been trying to kill her. He had fought with an animalistic strength, a true hunter, for which she had grown to respect him. Their brief engagement had left her feeling empty, as if he'd realised in her something was missing from her life as a Jedi. The true woman within her as an Echani relished combat, reveled in it. Such practice was how individuals best learned about one another, shared the deepest parts of themselves. Alyona had been reminded of this on Togoria, and was saddened by the discovery. She felt less a Jedi, which she expected to detest. To the contrary, Alyona enjoyed this regression as she felt closer to her true self.
She was not sure if this boded ill or not for her future. The Jedi Order she had been raised within was stringent about such practices and ideologies, suppressing such desires for combat and glory. Yet these drives were very much a part of Alyona's identity, it hurt her to deny them when she all she wanted to be was whole.
Perhaps Xavka would make her whole? She wondered as she trekked through the forbidding hills of Mimban, coming ever closer to the mountains that were said to hold the ancient city within their reaches. The man was a monster of sorts, to be sure, though no more malevolent in nature than any other sentient being was capable of. He was Sith, of course, though Alyona did not know this to be a determinant of one's actions. He had pursued her, and fought her, yes, but their resulting interactions had left her feeling...fulfilled, as opposed to diminished.
They had agreed to meet at some point over the next several months, something Alyona looked forward to. She couldn't help but wonder where this might lead them, though the possible paths she had not so much considered. He was strong, wild, and vibrant, but also shattered in many ways. Alyona wondered if this might doom their possible futures; she could never attach herself so strongly to a being willing to do harm without justification. Even so, she had not been given this impression of him during their time together on Togoria, and Alyona wondered what this might lead them to.

Alyona continued her journey through the rolling hills, pushing through the thick forests and rocky pathways. She had taken the evening before to rest, and returned to her travels the next morning. Her night had been uneventful and unthreatened, though Alyona had remained cautious enough of Mimban's wildlife to sleep in a tree, on a thick branch. After eating a small meal of nutrition bars and water, and a brief meditation, Alyona had started off once more just after sunrise. The terrain grew more variable as she went on, eventually gleaming the mountainous landscape on the horizon as she scaled the peak of a large hillock, sparse with trees.
The mountains rose in the distance, their feet laden with seas of fog and brush; the forests thinned beyond this point in her journey. She stopped long enough around noon to eat a small meal and rest, taking in the landscape around her. The hills began to flatten out and descend into a series of valleys for a time before rising once more and turning into rocky slopes. The mountains themselves boasted three peaks, the tallest resided in the West and was laden with clouds. The other two were elevated enough to be capped in snow, though the city itself was built into the lower portions of the rises from what Alyona had been able to gather from the Jedi Archives on Yutan. Her first targets then were the valleys that existed between the mountain peaks, and she would start in the East, at the smallest of them. Alyona planned her route accordingly, avoiding too steep of terrain without deviating so far from her path as to inconvenience herself. Alyona figured she had another six hours of travel ahead before sundown, and that she would be able to make her camp for the night in one of the many crags of the mountain's feet.
As she returned to her travels, Alyona melted her presence in the Force with the surrounding wilds, experiencing their lively existence and relishing in nature. Her trek continued through the lowlands for several hours before she began her climb up rocky steeps, sticking to game trails when she could. As the sun began to descend toward the horizon, Alyona began planning to make camp, picking out possible spots in the distance and traveling toward them one after another before deciding upon one in particular. She made her camp on a grassy ledge that jutted out from a sheer cliff. The slope leveled out Eastward and turned back to climb above her. Alyona decided she would head that way in the morning, after a night's rest.

With the Republic fleet overhead, slavers wouldn't be trying to get off the planet.

They'd make camp. Power down most of their equipment, hide from orbital sensors, and then wait for either the Republic Navy to jump out of the system or try for the planetary rotation to give them an exit vector they could use to get out of orbit and jump to hyperspace before the Republic could lock them down.

Nobody expected the Republic inquisition though, so the slavers wouldn't have planned for this.

It was conjecture, but when the young Pantoran came up on an encampment ten clicks upstream it seemed that all the pieces were coming together. Macrobinoculars zoomed in on the group he'd spotted along the shores of the swampland. They'd parked the transport at an angle facing the direction of the current, ready to use it as a bunker in case anyone approached from that side. They'd pushed the Mimbanites and the Coway against the brush line, binding their shackles and chains to the more substantial of the trees and foliage. They'd made a circular pit in the center of the camp, with a handful of Weequay gathered around the edges cheering as a Mimbanite and Coway were pitted against one another for their amusement.

There were three Nikto away from the group. Point guards and sentries. One looking down stream, the other upstream, and the third on the slaves and the brushline.

So, there were eight bad guys and just one eleven year old Pantoran.

Boo felt sorry for the slavers that the odds weren't more in their favor.

Willa could hear the firebreathers all around them, there was some republic chatter as she moved up a little and crouched there overlooking the valley with the remains of the old base across on the mountain top. She could see some of it while working on the different pieces of equipment with the firebreathers walking below. One hand firing off a shop with a hook to lock into the stone, she mashed it into the stone of her perch for a nice connection going at an angle and tightened it up until the line was taut. She secured the rifle on her back and was moving quickly to meet the others who might find their way up there but... fun times ahead grabbing the smg from her hip as with the other she got a small clip. Something to hold onto securing it to the cable and kicking off. Arm extended while she was going across the zipline and taking aim just in case it was needed to defend.

One thing about the Nikto guarding the approach from upstream.

He periodically walked around the transport craft they'd parked in a defensive position. It put him out of the sight of the others, most of whom were watching the fight anyway. It wasn't much. Eighteen seconds on average. Thirty at the outside. But it was an opportunity. But, as Boo got in position to do something, it seemed that fortune favored the bold.

The Nikto paused to piss off into the swamp. It rooted him in place, out of the sight and cut off from the others.

By the time he caught the shadow moving in his peripheral vision, it was already too late.

Leaping from out of the marsh grass, the blue-skinned ninja bounded from off the side of the transport craft and threw his hand over the Nikto's nose and mouth. As the man started to cry in alarm, the breath froze in his throat. The warmth stolen away, as a patch of ice suddenly formed over the lower part his face.

It was thin, and would break in a moment. But a moment was a moment more than he needed. For, at the same time, the amphistaff that was coiled around the boy's arm whipped out to strike the man in the neck.

The entire exchange lasted little more than two or three seconds. And then the lithe assassin had vaulted back off into nowhere. The Nikto, struck speechless, brought his hands up to grasp at the ice covering his mouth. Then the man seemed to experience a seizure, and fumbled instead to grab at his neck -- where his fingers probed to reveal the two puncture wounds left by the amphistaff's bite.

Yuuzhan Vong venom was extremely toxic. Injected into the carotid artery, the neurotoxins quickly arrived at the blood-brain barrier, where they spread to induce a rapid paralysis. Eventually, that paralysis would extend to the heart and lungs, and death would follow shortly after.

Collapsing to his knees, the Nikto went headfirst down into the brackish swamp, as the young Pantoran's shadow passed over the still convulsing body. Dropping into a roll, the boy slipped underneath the transport. A quick scrape of the amphistaff along the undercarriage exposed wires and components. Reaching up into the internals, the young assassin went to work re-wiring the ignition systems. If he could direct an energy burst back at the power core, they'd have some fireworks.

Enough fireworks to attract the Republic even.

...and who didn't like fireworks?

The Grand Marshell paced back and forth the command bridge of the military transport ship. He wanted intel, news of what the Kark was going down at the base. After the initial contact and Commander CC-01 re-directing to the engagement, the comms had gone silent. This karking ship also worried him, it was only able to be spotted by reading its' wake in the planet's atmosphere, not by normal means. If it were to engage his small fleet would they be able to defend themselves. This questions and more worried the Cody and he waited, for some news from the front....

“Makari, Koba, Raido, Jackson. Ashir. Formation time, let’s go.”

For the first time in a few days, Makari didn’t have to report for guard duty. He let out a yawn as he filed out of the tent with a host of others. Today, was formation time. It was finally time to start organizing into teams and parties for the third’s group trek into the ancient city. They would travel together of course, but when they got to the city, everyone would have different tasks. Makari was part of a team whose job would be to research the disappearance of the Maz-Ka-Tou and bring back clues to piece together the mystery. He was no detective, but he knew a little about finding the clues that were hidden beneath the rubble.

As he started to pack up his gear, Heavy came into his tent and let out a boisterous laugh. “Look like were on the same team again, kiddo.” He gave Makari a crushing pat on the back. “Let’s take home some good souvenirs like last time, eh?” It was an inside joke that only Makari and Heavy knew, but Makari frowned to let the man the know the joke was in poor taste.

The following morning, the third group assembled to hear Johanna Ralla deliver her usual speech. Normally she did them through a hologram because she was never present for the expeditions, but today they could see her clearly. As she told them about the importance of this expedition, and how well compensated they would be if they did their jobs well, Makari’s eyes wandered to the mountain that lie in the distance.

It would be an arduous journey but Makari’s spirit was ready. And not just his spirit, his body would be ready too. Training in the gravity room had given him a strength and stamina that he had never known, and a little “hike” like this would be nothing compared to the things he had experienced on Voss.

He felt a hand on his shoulder as they started to file out of the camp. “You ready, kiddo? We’re on point for this thing.”

Heavy walked up beside him as they moved to the front of the formation. Jackson, Koba and Raido were walking behind them.

“Slow and easy, right?”

“Slow and easy,” Heavy nodded.

Makari looked over his shoulders at the nobles in the rear of the formation.

Slow and easy probably wouldn’t be enough to keep some of them from falling behind…..

It was whatever though.

He only had to find the right path

How they kept up was their own business.

"A group of armoured soldiers would be great if you could provide. We only need on alive, so leave that to me. Send them in after I've made initial contact." Arlos replied, before heading back towards the base, flanked by his men. Making it to the front of the base, he saw the pirates. They were in a frenzy, trying to understand what was going on. Some were positioned defensively, either behind crates or on walkways. Others were loading the ship that had landed, attempting to get as much stuff on board as possible. "Sir, we're ready on your mark." One of his men said. "Engage targets, but keep one alive." He ordered, before firing his weapon at the nearest pirate.

Headshot. The body dropped to the floor, and his friends noticed it to late. The base erupted with gun and blaster fire as the 228th moved through the base, killing some pirates whilst leaving some for the housecarls. They split into two groups, one going up the walkway whilst the other went into the ship. Arlos was with the latter, and they began their sweep of the ship. Some pirates put up a fight, one getting a shot into Arlos's left thigh. The others were either dead by their own hands or had surrendered. "By order of the Galactic Republic, you are under arrest!" Arlos shouted to the remaining pirates, before turning to his squadmate. "Keep them detained." He ordered, which was responded with a salute. Arlos then left the ship, heading up the walkway. He found that his men had done similar to him, and now there were just some stragglers hiding throughout the base. "Leave them for the housecarls."

They rotated in groups of twenty giving short burst of, as they moved forward doing this, the pirates began to run and get cut down anyway. The other pilots seemed to head off for something else abandoning their post as the small atrisian princess stood at the ready. Full attention on how lightweight it was before she climbed inside grabbing the headpiece that registered mental input for the reaction times. She could see the droids head built in to give her well some advice and help with targeting at the high speeds they were supposed to be able to pull off. As she sank into the seat it was a very nice fit with the canopy coming down and sealing. As his Typhoon arced towards his wing partner's craft, Gir's eyes briefly swept across the mock battlefield. The initial mass formations of starfighters had given way to close-quarter duels between single craft or flight pairs. The trio of Shield-class Orbital Bases sporadically fired their own blasters and laser cannons into the mix, taking great pains to avoid hitting their own craft. Gir snapped his neck back to focus on the glowing engine nacelles of the R-45. He had barely managed to get the brackets on the interceptor before it abruptly broke off its pursuit of Angel One with an abrupt dive before banking into an arc that used one of the space stations as a shield.

"Looks like you're clear now."

"Nope, he's coming around now for a head-to-head..."

Gir glanced down to view his HUD and its targeting telemetry to confirm Stadler's observations. The interceptor was indeed swinging around the station in an arc that would take it back to them. So that's how he's going to play it...Gir tapped one of his modular compartment's triggers. But no weapon came forth. Instead, the action brought his sensor jammer into play. Since he wasn't planning on causing a huge amount of chaos in something that was only a simulation, he had dialed down its power output considerably. It now only projected a bubble of sensor noise around both of the Typhoons.

"Really sir? You're going to make me do manual targeting..."

"Take my word, it's a lot harder for him with his big gun-"

The interceptor leapt out from the side of the station and barreled down on the two fighters. Twin streams of ruby red laser cannon fire burst out of the ship's fuselage to randomly splatter across the two fighter's shields. Gir held down his own triggers, sending forth a burst of precise emerald darts at the aggressor starship as Stadler indiscriminately held down her own trigger. The light of the weapon's criss-crossed across space for a few brief seconds before the starships passed each other. The blonde man abruptly yanked his pilot yoke hard to the left. As he did so, Gir glanced at his shield output. Meh..that's not too bad...but not great either...he must have been firing his heavier cannon as well and have gotten a few good hits...He looped around to see that Stadler was chasing the craft's flight path with bursts of laser fire. Gir stopped his jammer, selected the craft with his targeting computer, and began to steadily launch his secondary weapons.

"Good man General, make sure you collect as much intel as possible. We got a new hostile and I want to get to know our new fiends closer if you get my meaning. Looking for forward to your next report, Bantam out."

It news as reassuring, capture of the base was objective number one and from the sounds of it the operation was well in hand. Eltan sighed. "I hope this droid is as good as you say. He'l be compensating for a lot." He sighed, realizing the poor choice of words. "Not that." He stood, attaching the helmet to the armor, and scanned the hanger. One of the technicians pointed him to his designated starfighter. "Okay. I don't think I can do this." he muttered to himself. "Hey, Mr. Astromech, anything you'd like me to call you?" A series of beeps and whistles came through the ship. "Okay, R8. Get us to the caverns." Another series ob beeps. "Fine. R8, please get us to the caverns alive." As the ship took off, he heard another series on noises from the droid. "Yes. I did have to add that in."

As the ship plunged into the water, Etlan made the mistake of looking out the window. "If there's always a bigger fish, I don't want to see what's bigger than those." He gave a little smile. The droid whistled something behind him as they headed into the caverns. "Yeah, I know."

As they entered the caverns, lights blaring, there was something in front of them. Before he knew what was going on, he was flying through the air, and a fiery explosion ripped through the air. "R8? You alright?" A confirming beep came from nearby. "You got a light?" There was a beam now, which illuminated a large enough area to show just how many firebreathers there were. "Gorramit, why are there so many? He sighed, firing the bolter. He saw one the explosion and ensuing fireball. He pulled the trigger again, and watched another blow up. "Cheers, Acaleus. A he pressed the triggero singular 3t3 missiles surged out of his craft towards the interceptor. While much smaller and less powerful than most starfighter warheads, the 3t3s were able to make up for their deficiencies in pure numbers. By the time Gir had stopped firing, he had already launched six warheads and still had half of his missile magazine full. One by one, the practice warheads overtook and then detonated against the beleagured interceptor's shields. His targeting computer flashed "target destroyed" over the live feed of the R45. The starship abruptly wiggled its wings before peeling off from the engagement to return to base.

He could have probably taken on either Stadler or myself, but not the two of us combined...He gently guided his yoke so that Angel Two came up to form behind his wingmate's craft and to the his right. Stadler lead the pair of Typhoons in a straight pass through engagement, letting t hem take opportunistic potshots at the other craft near by as they engaged in their duels. Gir selected a lone Cyclone spewing out its full payload of missiles against a pair of R46s of Griffin squadron. Before he had managed to get a full target lock, he held down his trigger. The nose-mounted repeating cannons began to sputter, filling the space that the Cyclone approximately occupied with emerald bolts. Few of the shower of sporadic bolts managed to hit their target, but it did cause the Cyclone to break off its attack as it tried to evade the new source of incoming fire. As it did so, the R46s regrouped to pounce on the starbomber. The Typhoon's flashed by that dogfight as their course took them onwards to the last space station. His com crackled.

"Did you have fun over there with your driveby shooting?"

Gir snorted, "Fun enough. And you?"
