OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Ouroboros Krayt Dragon
  • Designation: Semi-Sentient
  • Homeworld: Tatooine
  • Language: Galactic Standard Basic~ Vaguely Understands, but incapable of speech.
  • Average Lifespan: 50 Galactic Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Rare
  • Description: Ouroboros Krayt Dragons are fearsome beasts, leagues more terrorizing than their larger cousins. Bio-engineered to be fear inspiring beasts of war they come in a range of colors. Although most of the dragons are pale shades of grey or brown it is not uncommon for their genetic tampering to lead to more uncommon colors. The younger the dragon is the more off or pale they are, as age livens their skin and deepens their color considerably. Some of the colors often seen in mutation are green, red, orange, purple, and even light shades of gold. These mutations have been loosely categorized by likelihood of appearance- brown, grey, orange, red, green, purple, black, gold, white, and blue, with blue being the least likely to occur. In their prepubescent years the dragons are squat and short, most never growing larger than twenty meters. Around eight years of age they begin to go through rapid growth rates which end in their mid-teens. Through these growths their tails grow considerably longer, often making up a third of their total body length. This tail will grow to have a series of flail-like spikes, each one almost a meter long. Once the dragons reach their teenage years their bones begin to expand and they become far more lithe. Their skin, which was once a thick leather hide, will thin against their frame and almost seem flush to their body as opposed to the thick from they hold as children. Each dragon grows into a rather long neck leading into a vicious maw. Extremely intimidating with razor sharp talons and teeth, their eyes are usually a matching tone to their skin due to a continuation in birth defects. Serpent-like, they can grow to be well over 100 meters and are considered the most fearsome of the Krayt Dragons. All cases of the Ouroboros Krayt Dragon have shown they have eight legs, four on each side to support their massive bodies. Each Dragon's wing span is rather tricky, as they range from 90 to 120 meters in length.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I & II
  • Average height of adults: 25 Meters
  • Average length of adults: 90 Meters
  • Skin color: Pale shades of brown & grey
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Each dragon has vibrant eyes which are naturally reflective as well as massive wings that are comparative to a feral Mynocks. These dragons also have a unified birth mark from where genetic template implantation's often take place, these are found on their left shoulder and are a shade lighter than the rest of their skin.
  • Races: N/A
  • Strengths:
- The Vicious and Deadly: No Ouroboros Dragon is known for being mild or timid. These ferocious beasts are often the most deadly creature on the planet they inhabit. Although they are tamable if imprinted on as a youngling, they have a hostile disposition to most beings. If this temper is unleashed they can easily cause the destruction of entire cities. They are capable of eating many creatures whole with their razor sharp teeth and claws.

- The Obedient and Loyal: These dragons are proud and intelligent creatures who know their place in the galaxy is the top. They are Alpha predators by nature and do not shy from a challenge. However if you are able to earn the respect and loyalty of an Ouroboros Krayt it is yours forever. They will die before betraying their master of letting them come to harm, but if they feel betrayed it is extremely difficult to earn their respect and can even affect their health.

- The Wise and Intelligent: A common saying among these dragons was, "A dragon never forgets." They have exceptional long-term memory though their temperament can often make it appear otherwise. They are exceptional at problem solving and self-preservation and have a loose understanding of Commands and phrases taught to them in Galactic Standard Basic. It is believed they can learn other languages if taught, however they naturally understand basic.

- The Swift and Skybound: Though a dragon's wings are undeveloped most of it's life they are capable of flight. It is a difficult subject to understand and varies from dragon to dragon, however most dragons are able to begin flying in their early teens. These flights are in short increments for the first three to five years after they begin. No more than thirty minutes of sustained flight, even less if they are carrying more than their body weight. Once a Dragon is in it's mid teens they become proficient with flying for several hours at a time. However they are still unable to handle excess weight well. It is not until a dragon reaches maturity at the age of 35, that it is able to sustain flight with excess weight.
  • Weaknesses:
- The Lumbering and Conspicuous: Dragons grow to be extremely large creatures that are graceful in the skies and powerful on land. However, it is nearly impossible to transport or move them around covertly. Dragons are loud, lumbering, and think nothing of crashing into the nearest tree or building. Because of this they are not ideal for quiet environments or covert battles.

- The Fearsome and Demanding: If dragons are not closely tended to by their master's they become beasts of quick temper. Food, water, and grooming must be provided to them or they grow fowl tempers and will not hesitate to "warn" their master's through scratches, bites, and even smacks with their large tails. This often can effect their obedience as well. Dragons may not abandon their master in a time of need, but if they believe it is time to go, they will and will only return when they are ready to.

- The Flightless and Heavy: Until a dragon reaches his prime, and even then, they are extremely delicate flyers. Most cannot even fly before their teens and attempts before that could end in long-term damage to their wings. Most dragons are born and will remain too heavy for their own wings to lift them for sustained periods of time. Often, the longest a dragon can fly, is four hours of sustained flight. Their wings are also extremely delicate and the slightest damage done can ground them for months.

- The Challenged and Cursed: An Ouroboros Dragon's greatest weakness is it's own genetic structure. They were hastily created beings based off of the Greater Krayt Dragons, pulling genetic material from Mynocks to allow them to grow wings, however several things have gone wrong in their development. Their bones are heavier than they are supposed to be, causing them significant pain when flying for sustained time. All dragons are born with a natural allergy to Bacta and Kolto, which makes even the smallest doses fatal for them. This requires them to naturally heal all injuries.

-The Aged and Degraded: For Krayt Dragon's, Ouroboros dragons have rather low life spans. The average lifespan is fifty years old, however few make it past their fiftieth year. After reaching 47 years of age they immediately begin to rapidly degrade. By the end of their 47th year, most dragons are no longer capable of flight or combat and are experiencing the beginning of total organ shutdown.

CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivorous- Bantha's, Humanoids, Sarlacc's, other Krayt Dragons, and various other meats.
  • Communication: Verbal- Various growls and hisses to gauge different instinctual/emotional responses.
  • Technology level: None
  • Religion/Beliefs: None
  • General behavior: Aggressive and dominant animals, The Ouroboros Krayt Dragon's are rather simple beasts who enjoy the freedom of life. They do not take well to domestication yet it can be done. In the wilds of Tatooine they are vicious hunters who hunt everything composed of meat. Though most Ouroboros will not harm one of their kind they are known to hunt Greater Krayt Dragons in hopes of showing their superiority and gaining a large meal. Most Ouroboros Krayt's like to keep to themselves, preferring a solitary lifestyle to company. Once they reach their prime they begin the hunt to take a mate. Often they challenge a potential mate to a duel, if the male is the victor then they will mate, if the female is the victor she will kill the male and consume him. Capable of taking commands and understanding GSB, they tend to be formidable pets, but come with a large work load.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

A new species to be unleashed into the galaxy, the Ouroboros Krayt Dragon was theorized in the labs of Kamino and created in the sands of Tatooine. Confederate scientists theorized of creating a superior to the Greater Krayt Dragon, a beast that was already considered the apex predator of Tatooine. What began in theory and hypothetical soon turned to trials in the labs of Kamino. Using genetic material found from both deceased and living dragons as well as taking genetic samples from other winged species, they were intending on making a creature of unique beauty and ferocity. They quickly realized what they had intended would be far from what they created. The first iteration of the Ouroboros Krayt Dragon was born on Kamino and accelerated into a fully mature dragon. Upon awakening it slaughtered over half of the research team and leveled a small part of Tipoca city to the waters below.

It quickly became evident that it was best to have the dragons created on their homeworld, devoid of life and expense. Though the cost of creating the dragons expanded considerably, the research team did not yield to their initial failure.

After a few months of climate adjustments in Tatooine the dragons were born once again. This time they were host to a laundry list of genetic defects, however none of them seemed to be detrimental to the overall goal. The dragons were able to adapt to the ecosystems well and their genetic defects were slowly bred away with only a few remaining in their latest inception. Although it is extremely difficult, they are even able to mate and conceive more Ouroboros Krayt's.

After the finalization of their genetic makeup, most of the Dragons are transported off-world to a similar barren planet, Enos. On Enos the dragons are committed to a strict training school where they will meet their master's. Each dragon is bred for a specific master and will only obey his command, if his at all. If a dragon is injured they are brought back to Tatooine to heal and usually are kept to breed the next heir of dragons. Although few dragons have been born naturally, it appears they are fully capable of conceiving eggs, incubating, and effectively reproducing. Ouroboros dragon eggs are extremely rare and worth a small fortune in the galactic market. Mostly due to their extremely unique appearance and color. The color of an Ouroboros Krayt Dragon can be anticipated by the shade of it's egg.

So my one main question is how did they develop wings? What process did the bio-engineers go through to develop them that way? Introduced DNA from another species? Cat's cradle with the subject?

Honestly I have not thought on that part too deeply. I can go with them introducing DNA from another species, which could help support their defects with their wings.

However, I'm open to other suggestions.

Confirmed that the undead dragon image doesn't seem to have a solid source. The current pinterest source is fine in that context.

The rest is more than fine. Reasonable dragon species for sure.

Enjoy!
