GENERAL INFORMATION

Name: Or’zet
Designation: Sentient
Homeworld: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Lannik/Legends
Language: Or’zeti, Basic
Average Lifespan: 60 standard years
Estimated Population: Scattered
Description: Bulkier, humanoids with pronounced lower canines and thicker skin. They were once used as soldiers for a long dead empire and have scattered populations around the galaxy but call Lannik their “Homeworld” despite their actual origin being lost to unrecorded history.

PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Breathes: Type-1
Average height of adults: 1.7 to 1.9 meters
Average length of adults: N/A
Skin color: Mottled Greys, Blues, Greens and Pinks.
Hair color: Males; None, Females; Black.

Distinctions:
Or’zet are able to interbreed with humans and other human compatible species. Despite this, their offspring will be of the race of only one of their parents. No half-breeds exist.
Characteristics
Their physical frames are similar to bulkier humans. On average they are larger and stronger than humans. Their mental capacities are considered slightly inferior on average to humans, though they are still not as dull as they seem. Distinguishing features include large lower canines that protrude from their mouths. Or’zet also have pointed ears but are less pronounced than those of Eldorai.
Infancy
Or’zet gestation period is 187 days. They are usually 4.2% of their mother's weight. Their suckling time is over 7 months.
They grow 1/3 times faster than humans, reach maturity at the age of 12, and give birth to an average litter of about four children, though six to eight is not uncommon.

Races: Or’zet are not divided by race but rather by clan which is derived from family relations rather than genetic markers.
Force sensitivity among Or'zet is unheard of.
Strengths: Stronger and more durable than base humans due to denser bones and muscle fibers.
Their sense of smell is better than that of humans. Humans have about 10 cm2 of olfactory epithelium (nerves that distinguishes scents), whereas Or’zet have 170 cm2 . An Or’zet olfactory epithelium is also considerably more densely innervated, with a hundred times more receptors per square centimeter.
They are also able to see clearly in low-light

Weaknesses:
Shorter lived than Humans and many other species.
The increased area of the brain dedicated to heightened senses also means decreased area used for other cognitive functions. This means Or’zet tend to be more literal and take longer to reason and speak than humans. It also leads to more impulsive responses to external stimuli as well as a higher reliance on trained responses. Example; If an Or’zet has trained himself to fight when threatened if someone pretends to attack they will default to attacking even if the situation was not ‘real’.

Heightened sense of smell also increases the effect of pheromones on Or'zet. Example: More responsive to Zeltros pheremones.

Or'zet were bred as soldiers and to not be Force Sensitive. Though not force dead they can not use the Force in any known capacity.

CULTURE

Diet: Omnivores, similar to humans but meats are generally able to be eaten, even prefered, uncooked.
Communication: Verbal with the augmentation being able to smell one another's pheremones

Technology level: Their technological level is similar to that of baseline humans and species arpund them.

Religion/Beliefs: Their religious beliefs are similar to that of Dathomiri, in that they believe in a spirit world where ancestors watch over them and can guide them via “signs” and “omen” that are interpreted by shamans. They also believe in animals, plants, and even ideas or feelings having spiritual representation in their spirit world.
In general, the ways the Or’zet observe or practice this belief varies widely from passing interest to deep belief. They have no singular higher power but view ancient ancestors as being among a pantheon of various “gods”.
Most notable is Durag, the ancestor that lead them from “slave soldiers” to “freedom”. The origins of this story seem to be highly based on fiction created to explain their origins at some point in their history. A prophesy exist that says “Durga, will be reborn among the stars and lead his people to greatness.” interpretations vary.

General behavior: Or’zet are a highly communal species, tending to form extended families called clans. The raising of children is considered a clan responsibility and it is not unusual to feed and care for the children of other clan members though special affection is normal to be shown to one's own offspring.
Due to heightened sense of smell members tend to be less practiced liars as the smell of a person changes based on their emotions. This leads to a generally blunt straightforward people that rarely say something they don't feel is true.
Mates are usually chosen from within the clan but marrying outside of the clan is acceptable. When inter clan marriage takes place the male gives up his clan and goes to live with his mate in their clan.
Though maturity occurs at around 12 years of age there is an alternate form of status among Or’zet kind referred to as becoming “blooded”. This is left over from a time when they were a warrior people and became blooded by killing an enemy in combat. In current times an Or’zet of any age or gender becomes blooded by showing extreme courage, honor and resilience in the face of opposition. Being blooded is considered a higher social status and requires no ceremony other than acknowledgement by adult witnesses, preferably if they are already blooded. This sometimes leads to reckless behavior in the young that is quickly reproved by most adults.
Due to their scattered nature there are some far flung Or’zet that have no knowledge of their culture and have adopted whatever local customs they may have grown up with.
They have become a generally peaceful people in regards to other species, but practice regular sparring and wrestling among their own kind. Competitions based on shows of strength and skill at physical activities are extremely common but generally good natured.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
In the distant past the Or’zet were bred for war and used as shock troops for a long dead society, potentially Rakatan. They eventually gained freedom, though whether it was due to an uprising, as they claim, or simple abandonment is unclear.
The largest colony is on Lannik and that is largely considered their homeworld though they have scattered populations across the galaxy. They developed a highly spiritualistic society which is irregular for a widely literal people, but all clan members have a basic knowledge of if not belief in their brand of spiritualism.
