Orik Dakari
Imperial Military Police
Born and raised through the dying years of the Sith Empire, Orik learnt to hate them and all they stood for. Born to a middle-class family, Orik soon learnt that all that awaited him in life under the Sith was, at best, to be part of its brutal machine of oppression. As the war worsened for the Sith, harsh crackdowns ensued on the civilian population, including plans to set off the volcanic islands of that world to leave nothing of value for the Imperials, including the military complexes scattered around its archipelagos. Though that plan was forestalled by New Imperial invasion, much of the civilian infrastructure of that planet was destroyed, and thus it was that when the Empire liberated that world, Orik willingly joined up, where he was assigned to the growing Military Police Corps under the Imperial Security Force due to the increasing need to garrison rear areas, monitor PoWs and guard increasingly complex supply routes in the Empire's shift from lightning-quick assaults to taking and holding territory and processing interned Sith.
As the war with the Sith wound down, however, Orik was reassigned, this time as part of a high-security garrison at a large military complex seized from the Sith. Expectations of a peaceful deployment were dashed when Mawite raiders launched a large-scale assault on the planet, aiming to capture key intel and technologies stored inside the complexes. While the first defences were overrun, Orik took command of the Shoretroopers in his base after the first bombardments gutted the chain of command. Holding out inside the bases, Imperial army units held out for weeks until a relief force swept away the raiders. Orik's performance was noticed and he was soon transferred off-world to Raithal to be trained as an NCO, as well as specialised Shoretrooper training, in one of the first batches of such specifically trained for tropical combat.
When Orik graduated from Raithal, he was deployed to a Forward Security Battalions of a frontline Legion, performing the same MP duties as before but much closer to the front, protecting frontline command posts, escorting convoys under threat of commando attack and rapid PoW transport from the front to off-world. He joined in time to see most of the Second Great Hyperspace War, his legion deployed to secondary but nonetheless brutal battles. Just before Tython, his unit suffered heavy losses weathering a powerful Mawite counter-attack, and while he survived, much of that Legion was rendered combat ineffective. Sent to the rear to recuperate, Orik was transferred to the 908th Legion just in time for the Chiss-Imperial War.
