Affiliation: Mandalorians, select customers. Mandalorians can feel free to assume they already have it.
Manufacturer: Clan Rekali, Incorporated
Model: Ori'beskaryc-class escape pod
Modularity: Modular braces, fittings, or sabots make the Ori'beskaryc escape pod compatible with virtually all Mandalorian-built escape pod housings/tubes, as well as many other commercially available craft. For larger escape pods, braces, fittings, or sabots allow two or three Ori'beskaryc pods to fit into each pod housing/tube.
Production: Mass-produced
Material: Red havod hull, glasteel viewports
Classification: Escape pod
Length: 7.5m
Height: 3.5m
Width: 3.5m

Armament: Rating 0. Arming your escape pods is a really good way to make sure the enemy has a motive to wipe out all your escape pods.
Squadron Count: Not applicable.

Special Features:
  • Retractable atmospheric maneuvering fins.
  • With modular braces/housings/sabots, compatible with many kinds of ships.
  • Adjustable docking collar (ventral).
  • Force cylinder for emergency boarding/unboarding, especially when docking collar will not fit due to incompatibility or damage.
  • Can be loaded with up to five pre-calculated hyperjump options by its mothership; has no navicomputer.
  • Redundant inertial dampeners and repulsors, and other countermeasures for rough landings.
  • Single-use shield disruptor, comparable to a less powerful and less advanced version of a Bev-class drop pod or a Peregrine Field Disruptor, allows the Ori'beskaryc to pass through ship, installation, theatre or planetary shielding once, with proportionate turbulence.
  • Black box.
  • Full-spectra (EM/subspace/hypercomm) distress beacon with manual override for when getting found isn't your best move.
  • Iron Crown Enterprises 'Wild Space Kit' survival pack, containing: medpack, microlab, antidote synthesizer, hypoinjector wristband, 6x fire paste tube, 2x portable beacon, personal translator wristband, plastent (sleeps six), 6x subsonic field emitter, sonar mapper.
  • Starfighter-grade sensor/comm suite.
  • Three engines for redundant reliability.
  • Water and air recyclers can theoretically last for years.
Maneuverability Rating: 6
Speed Rating: 4
Hyperdrive Class: 15

Strengths:
  • A hypercapable escape pod
  • Good shields
  • Capable of surviving rough landings and often taking off again afterward
  • Capable of passing through shields once
  • Capable of sustaining six humanoids for one week, albeit in very close quarters
  • Compatible with most ships over 100m, especially Mandalorian-built ships
  • Red hull easily spotted by rescue crews
Weaknesses:
  • No weapons
  • Maneuvers like some of the ships that might launch it
  • Extremely slow hyperdrive with a range of only 1,000 light-years
  • 2.5x as expensive as most escape pods of comparable size; extra cost isn't much, but does add up quickly

Description: The Ori'beskaryc ('hard case' or 'no nonsense') is a high-end escape pod, designed to ensure that survivors are never stranded. Also known as the 'Little Red' due to its redness and littleness, it is disproportionately durable. Hypercapable in the most limited sense, the Ori'beskaryc can run with five present jumps across a short but functional 1,000-light-year range (less than half of a planetary defense starfighter's drive range). Various braces, sabots, and/or supports make it compatible with most escape pod housings on vessels over 100m, though there may be exceptions in both directions. In a pinch, the versatile little craft can serve as a drop pod (leaving its mother ship without escape pods) or even as a very small starship, though its engines and repulsors tend to degrade after a few trips out of a planet's gravity well. They are, after all, meant to control and mitigate reentry rather than let the pod reach escape velocity the hard way more than a few times.

There are no gimmicks to the Ori'beskaryc. It's just far more likely than any other escape pod to get you home in one piece.
