Each capsule holds a small and insignificant Force-attuned object which causes a small thaissen crystal to glow almost imperceptibly. The glow is not visible outside the capsule, but a sensitive lightmeter sends a constant signal to the central command unit. When a Force-null field overlaps with one of the capsules, the object can no longer cause the crystal to glow. The central command unit tracks the lost signal as a suspected ysalamir contact. Since conglomerate ysalamir fields tend to be round, the Unrepentant can quickly estimate the approximate location of the sphere's centre. If that proves empty, perhaps multiple points of emanation are involved. The Unrepentant then provides its operator with possibilities and probabilities based on the fairly simple geometry of Force-null fields.
