"Operation: Throat Punch" - TU Dominion of Apatros

Arceneau Merchant Fleet
Outside of the Apatros System

“The mines are doing well.” Danger would relay to her Techno Union counterpart, [member="Marek Starchaser"], standing right beside her.

They were both situated at the Apatros Cortosis Merchant Fleet HQ’s for The Techno Union and Arceneau Trade division within the system.

“However, seems a little upstart has decided to move in without an invitation.” she would slide her finger across the holographic display. In it she would show what her security division and what was transferred was the information on someone who was taking a proverbial squat on the mines owned by the Techno Union.

“The Outer Rim Oreworks company completely controls the world now and has sided with our enemies in the Retail Conglomerate. The Retail Conglomerate is a collection of thousands of retail companies. They are the only corporate opposition in this sector that could be considered a threat. In order to secure the planet fully, the Conglomerate's hold on the world needs to be loosened.

And that will be done by undermining ORO.” ( shout out to Adekos)

There was a ferocity in her green eyes. No one messed with her interests.

“I believe it is time the Techno Union came to show what happens with squatters in our property..”

Thank you [member="Adekos"] for the objectives!

A: Red Sector A

ORO has divided the planet into into sectors. Each sector has a maximum of twenty-four divisions. Red Sectors are the designated penal colonies for ORO. It's here that anyone who violates any of ORO's ridiculous "employee conduct policies" ends up. Red Sectors are mining areas just like the Purple Sectors. The only difference is that their living standards are much more sub-par and the place is usually flooded with ORO enforcers.

Red Sector A is the largest and most highly fortified of the Red Sectors. All of ORO's corrupt administrators and bureaucrats get sent here, in addition to miners who have led revolts and the more violent sort of scumbags. We're going to need the help of the former administrators if we want to run this system without it costing us much. Seize control of the penal colony by any means, find the prisoner records, and start screening out those who have the skills needed to run this planet once we've taken control.

Oh, and if you find anyone with a history of leading insurrections against ORO (or just have a selectivist lean), kill them immediately.

B: Green Sector H

Green Sectors are the smallest and less frequent. These are ORO's administration centers. The majority shareholder of ORO has his office in the sector's central command structure. He goes by the name of Wilmont, because his native Quarren name is not pronounceable by our inefficient human mouth-flaps. Our SpyNet operatives have informed us that we could potentially blackmail Wilmont into breaking ties with the Retail Conglomerate and turning over all of Apatros' mining operations to the Techno Union. All you need to do is infiltrate the central command structure (quietly), break into his office, slice into his computer, and find something blackmail worthy.

We're a bit iffy on the details, but I'm told that whatever he's got going on involves spice trading and Mon Calamari hookers. Male Mon Calamari hookers. Which is especially exciting given Wilmont's marital status (to his wife for thirty years) and his anti-spice philanthropy.

C: Purple Sector Q

Purple Sectors are the most frequently occurring. This is where all the mining takes place. Frankly, Outer RIm Oreworks does not have a legal right to most of these mines. As a result, they hardly have a legal right to most of the cortosis they pump out. It's high time they recognized this. Purple Sector Q isn't the most productive mine, but it is the most heavily fortified. That's why we're going to sack the place and steal all of their cortosis shipments. It's less about the cortosis and more about the message we send by reducing their most fortified plant to rubble.

Of course, since this isn't their most productive plant, it raises questions over why they would fortify it. We have tenuous reports that the Yuuzhan-Vong may be collaborating with ORO, perhaps in a bid to engineer something to keep the Techno Union off of the planet. Makes sense, as we're told some upper-level bureaucrats might have connections with the Peace Brigade. Yeah, those pleasant folks.

Anyway, sack the facility. Steal the cortosis crates. Use it for your knick-knacks.

When a soldier is ordered into battle, the interests of the politicians are of little concern. The warrior could care less why he is sent into the fray, but rather prioritizes two things: survival and success. Such was the mindset of Veriks-Kel, a man who was born in the image of a notable alchemist. As a creation...As a tool...it was his duty to fulfill the whims of his creator to the letter. Today, those whims saw a departure from the Unknown Regions in order to face something Dark that stirred on Apatros.

It was a shame, really, when cousins of the Darkness had to fight. Alas, orders were orders.

According to the information provided by the infamous SpyNet, a Cult of sorts had cropped up on Apatros. Centered in one of the many mines, this cell devoted themselves to the worship of Darth Bane...and busied themselves with undermining Union interests on the planet. In truth, between the efforts of the Cult and ORO, Apatros fell in no time. So, the Union needed to strike back...and the Father dispatched the Son to handle the Cult.

For this momentous crusade, Veriks had been granted temporary leadership of the Acolytes that had been assembled thus far. He was to lead them into the mines. He was to Herald the coming slaughter. He was to succeed in the name of his creator. As such, a simple corvette bearing the Acolyte and his comrades slid out of hyperspace before passing by the merchant fleet amassed in orbit. It promptly descended through the thin atmosphere, intent upon making a quick landing on the surface. In the meantime, Veriks, garbed in his sire's Cater Coat, stood ready in the hangar.

He looked upon his fellow Acolytes and readied his saber. "Our orders are simple. Kill them all."

“Ten minutes until we enter the atmosphere, Boss,” said Dak, checking their auto-pilot trajectory to the planet of Apatros. She and Malvern were here to befriend some criminals. A conglomerate of Neomodians would probably be on their meeting list as those backstabbing aliens always seemed to have their slimy, green hands in anything opportunistic. But they would also be targeting whoever ran the biggest and most widespread rackets in the capital city as well.

But why couldn’t they ever go to some fun planets, thought the party-loving Zeltron? What happened to just staying close to their headquarters in Nar Shaddaa? She also seemed to recall some wild and crazy times on the moon of Syvris. Or even her homeplanet of Zeltros? They never went anywhere she wanted to go, but Dakita kept these thoughts to herself. It wasn’t that she didn’t like traveling – she was quite nomadic actually. But the destination left a lot to desired.

Dak went into the back of the ship and pulled out a suit of armorweave tailored to fit her petite, pink frame. This time she wouldn’t forget to wear it, unlike the last time with Khal when they broke into a Titan facility.

Laguz had always been drawn to the groups with looser morals, because the tighter ones usually weren't all to happy with xir approach to things. Be it a simple or a complicated job, Laguz would inevitably end up slighting someone or other when xe employed a technique or method that didn't sit right with those of the more stuck- up persuasion.

The Techno Union were xir kind of people, however. With money being the biggest motivation, everything else turned into mere obstacles on the way; obstacles that often required someone like Laguz Vald to remove them. Now that they were on the rise once more, the freelancer saw it fit to establish the first tenuous connection with their membership, just to get a feel for how they operated and if they'd make for a good fit in the future. Their PR sales pitch — something something Cyberpunk — didn't really do anything for the sniper, but the amount of credits flowing into their bank accounts; oh, yes, that was something the shi'ido could definitely get behind.

A thought for the future, maybe. Right now, the shifter was tapping xir foot on the cracked duracrete beneath xir boots, waiting on the contact to arrive. Xir mind flickered to the safely capped and secured vials xe was carrying inside xir belly — almost like a drug mule — and xir lips quirked a bit.

Laguz didn't know exactly what xe was carrying, it was obviously all on a need to know basis with these people. The Sith had their secrets, and as a creature that mostly worked through shadowplay and subterfuge, the shifter was completely okay with that. Xe'd learned long ago not to ask questions xe didn't want to know the answer to, and xe had a strong gut feeling that this was definitely one of those.

The time had come once again to make a large amount of money, god Lucien loved capitalism. Below Him in some cushy office sat the majority shareholder of the ORO and today was the day Lucien would break him into a few million pieces.

Lucien had been steadily buying small blocks of shares on route to Apartros, he bought slowly and in small quantities so he wouldn't get caught. He needed to take some of the other shareholders out of the way. When it went tits up he wanted to be in a position to outvote the majority holder, that meant he also needed to turn some other holders over to the union side. That would require some less savoury practises, it was time to contract a slicer.

"Hire me a slicer" He clicked in the general direction of an assistant. No doubt this upsets his assistants but the capitalist system would cut the throats of anyone who took their eye of the ball. The assistant returned a short time later with the contact details of one [member="Jennifer Blanchard"]

"Madam Blanchard, I need your help with something. I want you to get me some information, I want to know the 5 weakest shareholders within ORO and I need dirt on the five strongest non-majority shareholders. Then I need you to plant some false documents in a few shareholder message accounts ... how much will you require to do this?"

Clad in her heavy gear, Dak returned to the bridge, holding the helmet which she would put on later, not wanting to sit around in a smothering suit of armor as they waited to land. She pulled her long blonde hair up into a ponytail to better fit the helmet. Dakita checked the information on Apatros again, and it appeared it had no capital city but only a mining colony. Otherwise the planet was a barren, wasteland of nothing. ORO was the main corporation on the planet, and she knew from the chatter on their ship commlink that other individuals from the Techno Union were going to sabotage and takeover the immense mining company.

“That sounds exciting,” Dak said to Malvern as she listened into the Techno Union plans. “Why aren’t we doing that, Khal?” she asked. Unless their activity today involved the male Mon Calamari hookers that appeared to be prevalent for some inexplicable reason on Apatros, whatever Malvern had in mind was most certainly going to be boring. She could tell by his distracted, nonchalant answer. He was already deep into investigating whatever little pebbles he would be able to obtain or even steal today.

Marek enjoyed working with [member="Danger Arceneau"]. She knew what she was doing and had helped pull him out of jams and get him on the right path many a time before. He was having a bit of a fit, trying to not drink in front of the Trade Queen, but still… He was Marek, he’d find another way to entertain himself for the day. And probably not by taking in her assets.

“Of course they are, you were directly involved.” Her assets always worked well, which was why he’d always support the woman.

As for the Retail Corp? Marek shrugged. “They really don’t know what they’re starting with. We’re the Techno Union. What we can’t buy out from them, and turn into profit, well, we can send in our agents and they’ll handle it.” Hell, even the criminal underworld in his faction was going to pull their punches in the right direction.

“Just need the fleet to arrive, our Obsidians will work their way in, they’ll fall.” He did love a good battle.

Even if it wasn’t in a board room, which was where his Union had their trump cards.

A long-suffering sigh escaped xir chest at the transmission Laguz received after a few minutes, and xir eyes — an undefinable color at the moment — rolled rather extremely in their sockets. Were there any passersby to scar for life, they surely would have been, but the sniper was all alone, sitting on an upturned mining munitions crate someone had left in the blind alley xe was currently occupying.

Xe leaned back against the crumbling façade, half-tempted to remove xir nose just to tune out the unpleasant smells of week-old urine. Does it have to be here?

Groaning internally, Laguz reached into one of the pockets of xir coat — smooth, shiny new leather; just another reason why xe didn't want to be in this Godsforsaken town — and pulled out a small wrapper of expensive cigarettes directly from Nal Hutta. Xe stuck one in the corner of xir mouth, grinning as the familiar taste of tobacco tainted xir tongue.

With xir eyes falling closed, the shifter tucked xir legs in on the crate, humming contently as the smoke filled xir lungs with a deep inhale.

All xe had was time.

“But I thought… oh never mind,” she said, securing a seat belt across her chest as they were about to enter the atmosphere. She knew cortosis was uber-valuable so this only meant her employer had his eye on a shinier pebble. Still cortosis could be sold for hella good amounts of credits, and it happened to be a sought-after ore for Force users. But the Zeltron not being blessed with this power could only guess what it was used for. Suddenly Malvern’s raspy voice broke into her thoughts:

“Dak have you ever considered school?”

She looked over at Malvern and then began to laugh uncontrollably for five minutes. Finally, wiping a couple of tears away from her eyes from all the giggling, she said. “School? Now that’s a good one, Chief. I don’t need to go to school. I have street smarts.” She tapped her ditzy blonde head as she spoke.

The Zeltron examined Malvern’s face for signs of humor, but he appeared to be quite sincere with his question about her education.

“You’re serious, aren’t you?” she said bemused.

Jenn was being dispatched in her favorite fashion, cyberspace. She wasn’t having to get her hands dirty, and that was important. She could help navigate the galaxy for people, and the battlefield, send Bha’lirs where they need to go, or extract Taozin. Battlefield controller, that was what she was.

But today? She was being let loose on cyberspace as Gambit, her slicer moniker and hunting down some Outer Rim Orework bigwigs. As usual, she was in her Challenger, flying escort to Marek’s flag. It was standard, he didn’t like to go do things, and she was his agent, Hegemonically and Unionized.

She got the message from Cordel and nodded. “I can whip something up. What level of dirt? Destroy their lives dirty or make it so they need a new job?” Simple.

Apatros was a planet only worth the time of day because to the precious, rare, and valuable mineral in its crust. Cortosis had been a thing of note for millennia and had been the go to substance for Force Hunters since its discover. ArmaTech made a Cortosis Lacquer from similar exploits on Gallos. While Apatros wasn't considered valuable to ArmaTech currently, having a powerful friend in control of its premiere mining operation could be beneficial, and could forge a new alliance for the time being. And alliances were what I needed most right now. Things were in motion, people were being targeted, and money was transferring hands. This would not be the last time these things happened.

The small stealth ship pulled alongside the ship owned by our comrades in this, and the influential Lucien Cordel was no doubt aboard. I locked my own mind down, pulling on the Force to shore it up against assault, against being read. There were things in there that needed to be kept safe, needed to be kept secret. Then I boarded the ship orbiting the planet to see what all was needed. Today I didn't represent ArmaTech. Today I represented the Techno Union and myself.

Perhaps not for very long, but Laguz smoked and napped nonetheless, between the wallS and the heap of crates like some sort of cat. Xe could actually make xemself into a cat, come to think of it, but xe had imporant business to conduct today, none of which involved nuzzling someone's leg and looking cute while hiding xir claws.

But xe could, and that was the important part.

Besides, cats don't really smoke, do they? It simply wouldn't look plausible at this point, and part of a good disguise was making it look realistic; a cat smelling of cigarettes was bound to rise some eyebrows as well as suspicions.

Another sigh rolled forth from xir throat, and it took xem a few seconds to realize that the rumble wasn't xir vocal cords — whatever they looked like at the moment — but the sound of a shuttle approaching. Finally.

The shifter got up from xir hiding spot, dusting off xir trenchcoat and pulling up the collar before stalking out of the narrow alley to welcome xir would-be partners. An odd bunch, for sure, but xe'd worked with worse in the past. One of xir many qualities — or skills, if you will — was being able to fit in nearly anywhere. One merely needed to… adapt.

"You take your sweet time, don't you?" Laguz called out as the figures would emerge from the belly of the ship, narrowing xir off-colored eyes at them as they approached.

Apatros was an interesting little world,
a place full of mining and ore.
Curious little curio this Talith would be,
at the situation of the Mining companies.

He wasn’t one to be keen on profit,
but it was interesting to see what makes Techo Union tick.
As it was he stood in the shadows of the spaceport,
wandering and eyeballing the travelers walk from the transport.

Little will he know that come his way,
an altercation confusing him as ORO and make him pay.
Sigh, what will he do now?
Other than defend himself with some flash and pow!

As they bumped along to the surface of Apatros, Dak listened to Khal’s offer. Her first emotion was abject fear. A university! Where all of the smartie-pants of the galaxy were?!? I’m not cut out for that she thought, distractedly pulling on the end of her blonde ponytail. I’m nothing like them. Then there was the fact that Malvern thought she was stupid. And that was nothing new to her as he constantly joked with her about pulling herself together and reading a book for once. Truthfully, the Zeltron wasn’t offended in the slightest. She was well aware of her shortcomings, which she tried to make up for in other ways where it concerned Malvern. He was a man after all. Appealing to his baser instinct was never off the table.

But honestly, she was more touched by the generosity than she would ever admit to him.

Dak was a tough little cookie, having grown up on the streets of Zeltros and being exposed to all sorts of crude and practically abusive situations due to her gypsy parents and their hedonistic lifestyle. She didn’t really break down much, and when she did, her feelings ran more towards anger or self-destruction. Suddenly, the slicer felt a wave of emotion over Malvern’s offer, one she didn’t know what to do with. She slammed the helmet on her head so he wouldn’t see her face.

They suddenly landed and made their way to an alley to meet another of her employer’s associates. As they approached the figure in a trench coat, she turned to Malvern and said:

“Dammit, Khal. Next time can you not make my cry before an assignment? It’s already ruined my mascara,” she complained.
