Saga of Iron and Ash
Hunt

On the lush world of Cularin, a shadow moves through the thick canopy. It is not merely a predator of nature, but a creation of bioengineering. The Oggmiri lizards are living weapons, combining the thick, lightsaber-resistant hides of the Oggdo with the Force-nullifying traits of the Ysalamiri. Engineered by the Trade Federation for purposes that do not concern the Covenant, these beasts have established a sizable and aggressive population within the Cularin system. Their existence represents a unique tactical opportunity that the Covenant of Iron cannot ignore.

In the coming struggle against the Sith, the ability to dampen the Force might be the difference between victory and defeat. The Covenant does not seek to destroy these creatures, but to harness them. By securing the Oggmiri, we secure a tool that can strip a Sith of their greatest weapon, leaving them as vulnerable as anyone else.

Objective

The Rekav’dral has authorized a discreet operation to secure these specimens for the Mythos Fleet and for further experimentation. You are part of a specialised strike force to infiltrate the jungle by stealth and survive hostile wildlife to extract the target. At least two breeding pairs, and if possible, a clutch of young to be raised in captivity, are to be extracted from the jungle. We have no intelligence on where these creatures may be, so you must track them down. Be wary, for the Oggmiri are as ferocious as they are rare.

Steel is our skin, and Iron is our will. Let the hunt begin.

Sig stalked through the jungle slowly and carefully, the trackers in her HUD told her that this was a spot that the lizards frequented, cool running water, plenty of prey, and lots of trees to climb and be camouflaged in.

She carried in herb hands an Enrico rifle, one of the Bralor crew had liberated it on Epica during the invasion of the Galactic empire a few years back and Signy had taken a shine to it. Technically it was a loaner, but she had had it in her closet since she was thirteen and she hadnt been asked to return it yet so she guessed she might never be.

She also had her custom pistols, but hunting wildlife with advance mandalorian pistols just didnt seem sporting, and she was doing this for the love of the game. She checked her rifle again, as if it might have somehow unloaded itself since the last time she checked. The simple act of stalking was making her cautious and making sure she took her time to do it right, she was a good mandalorian.

She stepped across a small stream, gabbing a branch for support when she heard the snap of a twig in the overgrowth, instinctively the but of her rifle was in her shoulder and her fingers were ready to work the trigger as soon as she turned and identified the target.

(This is where you come in)

THE JUNGLE

Brent's HUD sped through different spectrums as he stalked through the lush forest. Different things stood out to him as his HUD scrolled in front of his eyes. Broken branches in one light spectrum stood out, soft footprints in another.

Brent's thick purple cloak flowed around him as he suddenly stopped in the shade of a giant tree. The bark had been scraped away by a moving creature, leaving deep divots in the soft wood beneath. Something large had been here, and by the looks of it, rather recently. Soft footprints in the earth led from the tree and further down a nearby slope.

The trail led down to a creek that slowly bubbled through the lush forest. Brent crept to the creek and began following it as the land slowly sloped downward in elevation. Brent walked for some time before the creek spilled out into a large body of water. This area was not as lush and beautiful as the higher elevations had been; it was swampy, full of trees and life. Perfect hunting grounds for the Oggmiri.

Brent continued to skirt around the swamp, coming up onto another nearby creek that fed into the swampy lagoon. As he stepped nearer to it, a branch that had been concealed in the overgrowth snapped. Brent's HUD lit up at the same time as he heard the quick shuffle of armor nearby.

Brent's head snapped around to the location the noise had come from, spying another Mandalorian who had been hidden from his view until this point. He immediately noticed the blaster leveled at him by the other. Still, his alarm quickly subsided as his HUD alerted him that they were a member of the Covenant, just one he had not interacted with yet.

"Seems we may found their hunting grounds," Brent said by way of greeting.

Thyr rarely left Kestri. The frozen world was her home, and her responsibility was to forge. Yet Tyr had been selected for this mission precisely because of her forging expertise -- though why that was needed, that was beyond her. Maybe the naur'alors at Kayatr'ade Forgeworks wanted to experiment with these lizards to their own end.

An opportunity to stretch her legs, at least. She was quiet on the ride to Cularin. She wasn't very social, especially with some of these vode who she considered.. not loyal to Kestri. But she kept her thoughts to herself.

The jungle world wasn't as hot as she had thought it would be. Her heat-insulated armor, made for working in high-temperature forges, shielded her somewhat, but the humid suffocating atmosphere of Cularin was not the dry cold of Kestri. She wanted to strip herself of her armor but kept herself under composure.

"Seems we may found their hunting grounds," Brent said by way of greeting.

The words caught her by surprise. She hadn't noticed the other Mandalorian, though she'd been keeping close with the younger warrior. She held her own blaster loosely, a pace back, comfortable to keep behind and watch.
