Private Opening Ties

Bilbringi. The location of the fall of Thrawn, and shipyards that have served galactic government for centuries. The system itself was little more than a glorified asteroid field, but its location and minerals were what was important. Now, it seemed to be home to a new government, one that Constantine had been invited to open contact with on behalf of the Galactic Alliance. He'd briefly met their leader, one Grand Admiral Vel'alari over J't'p'tan. That pirate hunting mission was likely what had had him invited, rather than an actual diplomat.

The Commodore came with only his personal ship, Hawk. This was a diplomatic mission, and bringing an entire battle line, even if they were mostly small ships, was a bit too threatening for the purpose of Constantine's visit. The Warrior-II came out of hyperspace near the edge of the Imperial fleet, dwarfed by the Star Destroyers that loomed before her. Hawk hailed the fleet, requesting permission to move further and to inform the Grand Admiral of his arrival.

"This is Commodore Oliva of the Galactic Alliance. I was invited to meet with the Grand Admiral. Please inform her that I have arrived."

The Grand Admiral had awaited the arrival of her important visitor eagerly. She had developed friendly relations with the Commodore after he provided assistance against the pirates above J't'p'tan who had been a thorn in Vel'alari's side and a hindrance to the consolidation of her territory. She had gathered several of her ranking officers whom she trusted in a meeting room aboard her flagship to await the Commodore's arrival, as she wanted them present to provide their imput and thoughts while negotiations took place.

It was her hope, after all, that friendly relations could be developed with the nearby Galactic Alliance, who were swiftly becoming a new galactic power in the core worlds. They would no doubt reach Bilbringi eventually, and the Grand Admiral thought it prudent to extend a friendly hand earlier on to allow for a better bargaining position for her Remnant when the inevitable event of joining the Alliance took place. As Vel'alari sat at the meeting table with her fellow ranking officers, a lone lieutenant entered the room, walking over to the Grand Admiral to whisper into her ear. "Ma'am, Commodore Oliva has arrived. Shall we allow him to come aboard?", he inquired. Vel'alari nodded. "Indeed. Grant him permission to dock with the ship and come aboard. Use docking tube one. Prepare a diplomatic escort of my Death Troopers and have he and whatever envoys he may bring politely escorted to the meeting room.", she said calmly. The lieutenant nodded, swiftly departing the room to make the necessary arrangements. Vel'alari turned her attention to those already gathered. "It seems our guest has arrived."

The mercenary commodore sat in the seat of the meeting room. He remembers it was only a few weeks ago he joined the grand admiral's forces as a mercenary. The Imperial hold on the core and inner rim was beginning to crumble, Chandrilla had fallen with its legion of clones left to wander aimlessly, skirmishes at Lilaic and the alliance had begun to set its sights on Xa Fel. The Imperials at Bilbringi remained a bastion and reminder of order and security and Kenth was committed to defending it.

He turned to the Grand Admiral and spoke. "Do we really require the help of the Alliance? They have only ever seeked to curb the influence of Imperials in the core." He said, a clear expression of disgust on his face. "Surely we can handle the threats we face on our own, we remain far enough from other major powers to begin to flourish." he continued. Kenth grew up learning the strict Imperial code and regardless of clear benefits he viewed Commodore Oliva and alliance personnel with distrust.

"Commodore Oliva, you are clear to dock with docking tube one."

Constantine had not waited long. The message from Admiral Vel'alari's fleet had eased the tension among his crew. They hid it well, but their commander knew they were anxious. A Warrior-II like Hawk would be torn apart by a single star destroyer, if the imperials wanted to fire. Their commanding officer was leaving them alone, and he was doing it without an alliance escort.

Hawk docked soon. Constantine stood at the docking bay doors, waiting for the connection to be complete before he crossed. His compliment of ten marines waited with him, ready for a betrayal. The marine lieutenant was pacing, clearly uneasy.

"Sir, is it really necessary for us to leave you? Couldn't we come with you for some extra escort?"

"Lieutenant, This mission is one of trust. We need to demonstrate to the Bilbringi remnant that the Alliance trusts them enough to bring them into the federation peacefully. I know you're worried."

"But the Alliance doesn't trust them!"

"Not yet, lieutenant. Look ready, the docking's complete."

Moments later, the doors opened on both sides of the docking tube. Across from him, an escort of Death Troopers waited. Constantine crossed quickly, wanting to avoid one of his marines causing an incident. As the Death Troopers escorted him to the meeting room, the young Commodore carried himself with the air of an admiral. Even though his men were not confident in the Imperials, Constantine had to show that he was confident in the meeting's outcome. Even if a deal was not struck today, and Constantine doubted one would be, It was a start.

The door opened to the meeting room and Constantine entered. Within there were several Imperial officers, as was expected. They were likely the high command of the Remnant, fleeing here when the Alliance forced them away from their previous holdings in the Core. Constantine felt their suspicious gazes, even briefly meeting the stare of Kenth Berik Kenth Berik . Unmistakable among her followers was Grand Admiral Vel'alari. Constantine looked her in the eyes as he greeted her.

"Grand Admiral, I am Commodore Oliva. Shall we get started?"
