STRENGTHS
- Hive: The Zarai Class Star Destroyer makes use of six different hangars spread across its superstructure. This allows the warship to deploy large numbers of attack craft in a rapid manner, allowing it to swarm and overwhelm enemy vessels.
- Sight Lines: The sloped nature of the Zarai Class, like most contemporary Star Destroyers, allows for weaponry to be angled to fire in concentrated directions all at once without worry of hitting segments of the ship ahead of it. This focus is particularly present on the Zarai Class, and the warship is capable of delivering its limited arsenal of firepower in a precise, concentrated volume to maximize its effect.
- Battlecruiser: For a ship of its size, the Zarai Class is relatively lightly armed, with firepower more akin to a cruiser than a Star Destroyer. In a straight forward naval engagement, the Zarai Class cannot go toe to toe with other Star Destroyers, and must rely on its superior starfighter potential.
- Speed: Given its role as a tactical carrier, the Zarai Class is generally designed to play a support role in One Sith fleets. As such, its speed is rather limited, preventing the ship from chasing down enemy vessels, and risks the chance of escape if it is itself pursued by enemy warships.
The Zarai Class Star Destroyer is the first, large warship designed and built by the One Sith for the purposes of extending their presence across the galaxy. The warship takes many design details from the ancient Venator Class Star Destroyer in its focus as a fleet carrier, though focuses on having a more well rounded support than that vessel. The Zarai Class is intended to serve as a primary warship to make up One Sith battle squadrons, providing the One Sith with a strong starfighter presence anywhere in the galaxy.
Like most early One Sith warships, the Zarai Class was originally constructed above the world of Copero by Chiss refugees. The massive shipyards of Copero, having fallen silent with the collapse of the Chiss Ascendancy, were eager to receive work orders from the One Sith, and the first Zarai Class warships were completed in quick order. Construction continues on more Zarai Class ships in the Copero shipyards, though in smaller quantities than the original number first ordered.
