Republic Hill- Main Complex for Republic Government Administration
Fable rolled her shoulders as she walked out of the Senate building. The sunlight was refreshing after the long day spent staring at datapads and displays. All those holograms made her eyes and head ache. But the sun was warm and she felt some of the tension in her neck easing. It was time for a break. It was nice that they'd finished the main green between the Senate and Assembly. It stretched before her, a few kilometers long, with a variety of wild grasses and trees edging a variety of walking paths. At the center, she could just make out sunlight glittering on water droplets from the Republic Fountain. A group of artists had gotten together to make it and donated it to the park.
It had become quite the center for the Republic staff and local neighborhoods. With most of the Republic office and admin buildings ringing the park, plenty of food and drink vendors had taken to lining the walkways. It filled the air with the rich scent of sizzling food. It wafted towards her and she picked up the pace.
She was starving. Hadn't eaten since breakfast almost twelve hours ago at this point. Her stomach rumbled and she picked her way through the growing crowd of government officials meeting their families for an evening stroll, others coming in for the night shift, and the never-ending surge of tourists eager to see the new capital center of the fledgling democracy. She ran a hand through the creds in her pocket as she considered. She recognized a group of people she knew from the Assembly headed towards the bundle of vendors around the fountain.
Fable adjusted the course and headed towards it, seeing who else might be ambling around the grounds. The sunset was just beginning to set behind the main Senate building and the sky was turning a crisp pink-orange in the distance. It was a perfect evening. Maybe there'd even be some street musicians showing up. That would be even better.
