Old Bonds [SJO ft. New Alliance]

To say that Setter wanted to live was an understatement.

He had no plans, rather than to seek absolute, harrowing revenge on those who had wronged him. It's why he was crawling, away from his would-be grave. They tried to bury him with an orbital blast from orbit- and all they'd find is that it made Setter incredibly mad.

His wounds would heal. He had confidence in that. All it was gonna take was someone to find him.

He continued to crawl, before reaching a fallen tree. The flare was lingering in the air with the parachute- and it'd burn for a minute or two. For now, Setter breathed deeply, that sweet air. It smelled better than it ever had before, the air of- life.

Being alive never felt better.

But Setter had felt better a lot more often than broken, burnt, and bleeding next to a tree.

Still, the man laughed.

"Well, they will." Kahne chuckled lightly in response to Joza's mention of the enemy not know when to quit. The Jedi raised his other hand towards the sky in aid of the force barrier, luckily the barrage was ended by aid from the fleet from above. Kahne lowered his hands to the ground and took a deep breath for a moment as he centered himself with the force and glancing around for a brief moment checking to see if everyone was okay. He glanced to Alexandra he knew that was a good first test for her force abilities and it looked like she had came out of it okay.

The Jedi Master smiled and gave her a small nod of his head. "You good?"

Kahne then turned to [member="Joza Perl"] when she mentioned that someone needed help. And that was when he looked up to see the green flare in the distance reach its peak and then just started to come back down.

"I'm with you Joza." Kahne said as he made haste to join her side. He wasn't sure if Alexandra was going to follow or stay and help secure the area.

The threat was gone in a fiery supernova high and far into the sky. A familiar sight to the young Vizsla. They were saved from impending doom and in the midst of it all surrounded by Jedi holding a magical dome up and with Alliance and Silvers men and women tending to each other stood Captain Stazi and Private Vizsla.

The shadow of death tangled and danced with the hope to live until the latter devoured it. Cursed dark tendrils of demise burned away by the will to live and fight another day. It was a dazzling feeling, a rejuvenating one. It reminded him of the spring sun's grace on the cold and buried white floor of winter.

Stazi revoked the sensation when he named him a soldier in the Army of the kriffing Light. It made him look back from his surroundings and at the Captain. He growled orders to the remaining Antarian Rangers completely uninterested what chain of command protocols dictated. Strength dictated that, according to Mandalorian tradition, and as far as he saw during his station on Rathis - he was the strongest.

Amon offered his arm to Twilight Company's captain in the traditional way for Mandalorians to clasp their forearms.

No words were needed.

Hope is the elixir of life. (semi-retired)
The task had been fulfilled. The Jedi in a unified stand had been able to sustain the Force Shield long enough to save the men and women of Twilight Company and the Antarian Rangers. And now the threat was no longer as well.

Alexandra wipe her moist brow upon the sleeve of her robe and let out a heavy sigh. It was both of relief and fatigue, but it was the good type of triumph and being tired. The brunette looked over to [member="Kahne Porte"] and flashed him a smile. "Yep. You?" she asked in return, but before the man could respond a green flare was seen coming from the combat zone. Someone was in need of help.

Kahne called to [member="Joza Perl"] as he ran after the Zeltron to help render aid too. It was not a far stretch that her husband would do such a thing... He saw hope in everything.

If the two Jedi Masters needed assistance, they would call for back up. In the mean time, Alex stayed in the vicinity of [member="Coren Starchaser"] and the other Jedi to help in securing the area.

People all grow up to die.

Death is inevitable.

It was either here- or somewhere else.

Curtain call, bud.

He watched the flare burn out and laughed a disappointed, sad laugh, slumping against the dirt he was leaning against. The overturned piece of earth, by all accounts- wasn't that bad of a place to die. Could've picked a worse spot, he mused. At least he got to go out killing Sith, like he always wanted. Too bad he didn't take any with him. That would've been the final justice.

His eyes scanned the horizon, briefly picking up movement beyond. But he knew it was all for naught. He'd bleed out in a few minutes. What he saw was a hopeful illusion. Maybe that was life's way of throwing him a bone after all the crap it put him through.

Or-

Maybe there was someone coming for him.

He owed it to all those that came before to keep going. He pressed his hand to the floor of the forest, and pushed upwards. He raised himself to a stand, bleeding, fractured- but not broken. He survived an orbital bombardment, and he was standing up to meet his rescuers. Said enough about Setter's determination to continue his mission, his commitment to the cause. The cause, of course, being the absolute unending murder of anyone remotely related to the Sith (or their affiliates).

Setter screamed at them, trying to grab their attention.

He was bleeding from head to toe, his armor in pieces, burns on most of his body- but he was standing, and screaming at them. Pissed off, just a little.

Lynette stood in the wreckage of the science facility. Wondering.

"R2? Any friendlies out there?"

~ Dweet donk ~

"Okay." She sighed and overturned another broken piece of concrete, "Let me know if the situation changes. Over and out."

The blue-haired woman pushed a pillar aside and tried to open a broken doorway. Nothing. Whatever was behind it had collapsed.

"Damn." She brushed off her dirty hands, "Why Sith? Why here? Why now? What was this place to you? Just an easy target?"

She turned around and squinted hard against the smoking rubble. No. It didn't add up. This place was isolated. There would be no news, no traders to give away the secret. The beacon wouldn't log enough ships to make this place a target. Even if the Sith hacked the network weeks ago. It didn't make sense. Why this place?

Lynette stalked the ruins for another twenty minutes. Looking for hidden entrances or stairwells underground. Still. She didn't find anything. Whatever was being hidden here? It looked like it was staying that way for awhile.

"R2? I've hit a dead end here. I'm leaving this for the clean-up crew. Let the karking Shadows have at it. I'm done."

~ Donk donk ~

"Alright. I'll return to the river and see if I can't slap a salvage beacon on the fighter. Then I guess we'll wait until the cavalry arrives. Sheesh. Over and out."

The Jedi Knight released her com and looked over the ruined space. You couldn't even see the bodies anymore. so complete was the annihilation.

"Welp. That's the last time I try to save some dinky research base on the far side of no-where. Pfft. The Sith can have it. ...What a waste."

She kicked the ground and moved to leave the area. Confident that whatever importance this place once had? It had died in the bombardment with the rest of the teams posted here. A bitter, bitter end.
